I was just reading an article about Jackie Kennedy and she reportedly advised Carly Simon to not marry someone who was broke because “you’ll never respect a man who doesn’t take care of you.” Jackie wasn’t wrong.

I think McDreamy made a lot of women think that it’s an attractive career. I dated a guy who was doing his fellowship in base scull neurosurgery a few years ago. He was actually very nice and down to earth. He just worked insane hours. I think he was probably an outlier personality wise.

I’m contemplating med school. I’d definitely be the grandma of my class, but I work with so many usually guy doctors whom I wouldn’t say are overly bright. If they could do it, I think I could too.

I think certain kinds of surgeons are worse than others. I used to have to interact with several surgical specialties regularly at work and I’m happy to break it down for y’all. Just in case you decide to date one. Ortho: either super nice family guy whose idea of a good time is an afternoon fishing OR a jacked womanizer. I don’t think they skew psychopath. Agreed. It isn’t hard to get a woman off. All a guy has to do is to say “tell me what you like” (probably one of the sexiest things a man can say in bed) and then follow the instructions. No woman wants hoola hooping or jackhammering or weird bottom humping.

I wish I could have forced this in my early 20’s brain. You really shouldn’t have to convince someone to love you and/ or marry you. I spent my 20’s in two long term relationships trying to convince some very average at best men that I’d be a great wife. 🤡🤡

When I was trying to nicely break up with my horrible ex of several years, he literally ran away to a different room of the house, started crying (of course), then got his ex wife’s engagement ring out of his safe and tried to propose to me with it while still crying with snot coming out of his nose. I told him no, but was completely freaked out. Because I was a doormat, I agreed to have dinner with him later that week for “closure” where he proposed to me again with a new ring in a very full, v…

I had something crazy similar happen! After the first time I had sex with a guy in my early 20’s, he asked me if I had ever considered a boob job and then said with my frame I wouldn’t want to go any bigger than a large C. Like he was a plastic surgeon or something! (He wasn’t. He was a CPA.)

I think it if you meet them in real life, this isn’t an issue. I’ve dated a few doctors and attorneys and they haven’t been cheap at all. I also met a few on OLD and honestly, they’re giant losers. They are the guys who can’t approach a woman in real life.

The best $10 that I pay per month is for an app called Been Verified. It gives you very detailed background info without needing much information about the person. It also pulls address records, so you can see if someone has a live in girlfriend or wife.

5’10”. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve met a guy who says he is 6’ on his profile and he’s shorter than me. Now I set my height minimum at 6’2”, so even if they are lying, they’ll still be taller than me. I met this guy for dinner only to find out that he was the Notre Dame leprechaun in college. This man was claiming to be 6’ on bumble and he was an actual leprechaun!

There are so many gaps in this argument, but I’ll go with the easiest. What about single mothers by choice? These “Men’s Rights Activists” always seem to forget with this argument is that there is a big trend with middle class to upper middle class women to do it on their own as they really don’t need a man and their children perform just as well and are just as happy as children from a two parent household. Per the WSJ: Her research has found most single mothers by choice are college educated a…

Martha is my idol. If I won the lottery, I’d live like her. Out in there country in a big gorgeous house with designer chickens, stables, greenhouses, gardens. She is living her best life. That video that went viral of her last year on her tractor is the end goal here.

If watching 20 seasons of Law and Order SVU has taught me anything, it’s that you could live in a bunker and if a man wanted to rape you, he would find a way. That being said, it does offer a little comfort to take some precautions. I live alone and have both a gun and a giant dog. It helps me to sleep a little better, but I still know that of someone wanted to get me, they would. What precautions do you all take?

People thought it was funny and were asking where they could buy one. She wrote in the comments that she can sense a Christmas engagement on the horizon, but she’s been wrong before. She has also posted “white dress try ons” where she tries on engagement party dresses and then has to clarify that she isn’t engaged. Once she posted a video where she was a bit tipsy on vacation just begging him to go to a jewelry store and buy any ring.

Charlize Theron is a good example of a single mother by choice. Outside of her fling with Sean Penn, she has always seemed very level headed. She knew she wanted a kid in 2012, there was no man on the horizon, so she adopted.

I have the same plan in mind. If I don’t have someone fantastic by a certain age, I’m going the sperm donor route. I can financially and emotionally support a child on my own, there’s really no need to add a man into the picture unless he’s great.

From the genius Nora Ephron - When Harry Met Sally Harry: What are you saying, that they fake orgasm? Sally: It's possible. Harry: Get outta here! Sally: Why? Most women at one time or another have faked it. Harry: Well they haven't faked it with me. Sally: How do you know? Harry: Because I know. Sally: Oh, right, that's right, I forgot, you're a man. I’ll bet y’all $20 that this man is a neurosurgeon. I’ve gone on a few dates with neurosurgeons. They do not know how to interact like actual human beings. I’m sure that part of it is that they have to disassociate a lot as they are usually wrist deep in someone’s brain, but somewhere along the way in their training they lose the ability to be a human. Most of my clients at work are medical practices and I’ve dated a doctor or two. Even the not so great looking guys have no issue finding dates. Also, a ton of business travel. Pre-Covid, I traveled at least once a week for work. You should see how those sales reps act once they get a drink or two in them at a hotel bar. They are propositioning EVERYONE.

I think this is bullshit. There are of course successful men who are looking for a nice trophy wife that bends to his every whim, but there are also successful men who like to be challenged intellectually and are just fine with women making their own money. A SVP at my company makes buckets of money. His wife would never have to work. She is a chair of a department at a medical school and is very successful in her field. Every time I’ve been to a work dinner that he’s at, he always brings up wha…

I made a bet with my obese ex that he couldn’t lose 80 pounds and if he did, I would pay for a vacation. He did lose 80 pounds with some sketchy medically supervised program including crazy amounts of B12 shots. I paid for the vacation and within three months, he had gained most of it back. However, I have to say that this is the closest I’ve ever gotten to fixing someone.

When I was younger and much more naive, I went on a second date on a boat. For a good half an hour it was just the two of us out in open water and he wasn’t that great at driving the thing. I had to pretend that I was having a good time until he docked at a bar and then called an Uber to get out of there. I lied and said I had stomach issues. No one wants to hear about stomach issues, so it worked.

I said this in another post, but I’ll say it again. It’s okay to have preferences. It’s not okay to be an asshole. I’m not sure when people made the collective decision that it was okay to express every thought that popped into their heads, but it’s really unnecessary. Learn to censor yourselves.

I also feel like I wasted my twenties on a bunch of losers. I don’t want to sound cliche, but I’m kind of okay with it as I learned a lot about myself from the experience. Would I relive my twenties? Hell no! They did make me a better person for my thirties.

It’s okay to have preferences, but it’s not okay to be an asshole. I am not attracted to man buns or neck beards. If my significant other grew either, I would say something. I wouldn’t act like a toddler and throw a tantrum. This couple has been together long enough to have a high school aged child. If the only thing holding the relationship is his love for her long hair, the relationship has been dead for a long time.

I disagree with this. Typically asking for more in your current job results in a tiny pay bump to placate you and then HR will do sketchy things like not giving you your annual cost of living increase because you’ve already had an increase that year. The easiest way to make more money is to switch companies. This generally results in a 15%+ increase which you wouldn’t see with your current company. With everything in life whether it is a company or a man, the way that they treat you (or compensa…

I’ve been there. I know it’s not what you are going to want to hear, but you won’t attract anyone worth attracting until you get your depression and anxiety under control. I work in HR for a giant company and have access to comp info. I can tell you that the wage gap is still very real. Even companies that tout their diversity and empowerment of women do it, it’s just more subtle. That means that they are missing out on commissions, president’s clubs, and bonuses while men who generally take a week or so…

I don’t understand half of the words in this post. I guess I’m very lucky to have never dated a gamer. In my opinion, buying a woman a nice engagement ring is putting some skin in the game. I guess she can take him out back and hose him down like a dog. She’s married to a literal shit stain 😂

Exactly. You can always subtract 2-3 inches on OLD.

Did she not know about his nasty skid marks before she married him? Wash your ass, people. A screaming, shitty man child. What a prize.

I listened to his audio book. I made it about half way through and then just decided that I’d rather be single than spend anymore time listening to him.

There’s a scene in When Harry Met Sally when Sally finds out that her ex was marrying his rebound and she says something like, “It’s not that he didn’t want to get married, he didn’t want to marry me”. That’s always stuck with me.

Have y’all ever seen one in person? I dated a man for 6 months, we took things very slow, we finally got around to doing it and it was not good. This was a 6’5” former college football player, huge hands, huge feet, not so huge below the belt. I tried to make it work for a while, but if they aren’t gifted in other ways, it makes for an awkward time.

The key is to not treat them like they are any different from anyone else. They are so used to women flocking to them that you will stand out as different for not caring. Not a great example, but when I was in college I was in the same friend group as the quarterback of the football team at a very big football school. He was very good looking and in phenomenal shape. Women were always all over him trying to buy him shots at bars, passing their phone numbers to him on napkins. I always treated hi…

I’m 5’10”, so not super super tall, but I’ve dated a few tall men who enjoyed the fact that I’m tall. I wouldn’t let it hold you back.

I’m 5’10” and I won’t date anyone under 6’2”. I’ve found that 6’3” to 6’5” is the sweet spot. I went on a few dates with someone who was 6’8” and that was too tall. Moral of this long winded story: I’m picky as hell.

I haven’t dated in NYC, but I have dated in Chicago and it was terrible. Men seem to think that Ivy League educated models grow on trees. They know if they are decent looking with a good career, they can get on OLD and have 50 messages in half an hour. I would stay off of OLD at least initially. Also, just about every married man that I worked with in Chicago had a “work wife” and most of them weren’t just getting lunch together. I get that a lot of couples meet at work, but “work wives” and off…

I’m late to this party! I thought I was meeting a man for dinner for a first date. When I got there another woman was waiting in the lobby for the same guy. Apparently he was holding open auditions or something. I promptly left.

Why are these women obsessed with sucking dick? You could suck a LVM’s dick 23 hours a day and on the 24th hour he’d be sexting with someone else. Sucking dick will not keep a man. Maybe only do it if you want to do it?

Yes! I’m not sure if they are trying to be self deprecating or if they really are just massive losers, but why put yourself out there like that? There was a profile that said something like, “I’ll probably die alone and my dogs will get hungry and eat my carcass. Please swipe right so this doesn’t happen”. WTF? Go see a therapist! You obviously have some issues to work through.

I was talking to my Mom today on the phone and somehow my ex fiancé came up. We spent like 10 minutes laughing hysterically about all the stupid things he did. It’s good when you get to the point where you can laugh and wonder how in the world you ever wasted your time on a loser like that.

If at all possible, don’t give up your financial independence. It’s nearly impossible to come back to the same level job you were at if you’ve taken 5+ years off to take care of babies. I’ve had so many friends who were at director and VP levels who took a few years off to have kids and ended up having to go back to work, usually because they were getting divorced, and ending up either finding nothing because of the gap in work history or having to take a major step down. If you are in a job mak…

Okay y’all, I need some advice. I got out of a four year relationship last fall and decided to get myself back to feeling like myself before dating. I’ve recently been dating two guys. They’re both very lovely and have so far have done everything right. They’re both successful, smart, very kind people. I’m physically attracted to both of them. The issue is that I am now having crippling anxiety about intimacy, really even kissing, with either of them. I’m having this weird mental block about pot…
