Why? We wouldnt put up with this in any other scenario. Many DV shelters dont even allow any boys over 12. Because physiologically male adults can trigger PTSD symptoms in victims of male violence (which most female DV shelters are dealing with on a regular basis), and I have no doubt that the same is possible (from physiologically adult females) with the victims of female violence. Fair enough. I still wouldn't want any child raised by a woman who was that selfcentered; such an environment would be damaging to the child, possibly even perpetuating that blatant lack of empathy in the world. Perhaps a suitable compromise would be the father being able to choose the adoptive parents for the child, as often happens when women decide to carry a child to term but cannot/do not want to care for them.

I will both agree and disagree, here. On one hand, yes, anyone who has done wrong should face the consequences of their actions. On the other hand, however, to hold on to poisonous emotions until something beyond your control happens (be it them apologizing, them being punished, whatever) only results in you being further poisoned. Plus, letting go of the anger/hate/resentment doesn't necessarily mean that you trust them nor let down your guard.

To be fair, that's pretty much valid for psychological purposes, too. It seems to me that the damaging part of rape is not the actual intercourse (normally) but the loss of autonomy. As such, if someone is held at knifepoint, but before anything sexual happens, their attacker is tackled off of them and arrested, the damage may be done. They knew what was going to happen, and they knew they could do nothing to prevent it. That's psychologically scarring.
