When is the right time to introduce my teen to new GF?My ex cheated and lied and ran up credit card debt and was a force of chaos in my life. And yes brutally left son at graduation time. Glad she's gone given what happened. I could only mourn so much, TBH. And the relationship evolved slowly to the point I feel trust. Right, that's good point though re: is this new relationship the "real deal", might be too soon. It a long distance, we met here, she lives a plane trip away, so I do have physical/mental space to work through post divorce logistics.… | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/12/23 08:47 PM
The forgive your ex crap really pisses me offI agree. Why forgive? It's a shallow expression, I suppose so that anger doesn't linger. My ex cheated and lied and ran up credit card debt and was a force of chaos in my life. Glad she's gone. I'm not going to forgive her. Any anger is assuaged by relief she left. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/12/23 08:35 PM
I just can't believe I'm hereI know people think "if only I did x and I'd only I didn't do Y....it's pointless. Marriage is also a meaningless institution because it's supposed make a couple resilient unless you totally do the sins like cheating or financial betrayal, which to me are the only grounds for divorce. What did she need that you're guilty of not providing? People make wrong choices all the time and marriage is supposed to be resilient to that. You can't beat yourself up over small shit. Unless you physically chea… | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/12/23 11:47 PM
To sleep with your eXThese forums are great for feedback and also it makes me aware that people are just sex starved animals. No. For the love of god No. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/11/23 10:28 PM
Stay for the KidI stayed for my kid. I didn't want him, with some special vision needs, growing up in separate homes. That was important to me. I made it work for him. We functioned ok. I did most of the parenting. She just wasn't there emotionally for anyone. She got addicted to video games and found a partner through that. She left our home 2 months before graduation to live with him in another state. In the end, that really made a mess for our child and made me think I should have divorced much earlier and c… | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/11/23 09:46 PM
My stbx starting dating someone and it's pissing me off so muchIt probably helped with 75% of my anger TBH. It meant I was moving on and I could transform my anger into caring and attention for someone else,. which is a more productive energy. And I really like this new person in my life, has gone beyond dating (whether she feels the same, ytbd, but I think so). Whether I'm just transferring my pain onto another relationship also ytbd, but I don't feel the same intensity of anger towards my ex since. I think the remaining anger will always be there, fluctua… | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/11/23 02:29 AM
My stbx starting dating someone and it's pissing me off so muchGotta let it go. People change. Modern marriage is full of pitfalls and lies. Sounds like you're dating too. Good for you. That's the best medicine, to feel someone else. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/11/23 10:42 PM
What is your biggest regret?Right. And I did hang in there after she financially cheated on me $30k in CC debt. She then cheated on me physically 5 years later and left me and our teen 2 months before graduation...when you're one yard away from a touchdown, totally fucking it up. I should have left at the financial cheating and would have saved our son a ton of pain of abandonment. Just a shitshow of a woman. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/11/23 10:33 PM
What is your biggest regret?I regret not getting a divorce first and hanging in there for my child. In the end she didn't care about me being a good father. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/11/23 11:42 AM
Am I overthinking the consequences of getting married? If you don't want kids don't get married. True forever love is either a myth or very rare. Marriage is a vestige of religious and societal norms of the past. You're doing it right in modern society. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/11/23 11:22 AM
