Not only is it consumer protection if my card gets stolen but it quickly builds credit. You only become a "wage cuck" if you live vastly outside your means and force yourself into debt. I don't think you understand how credit works. You don't get a good credit score just from borrowing a lot of money. You have to borrow money and pay it back. Saying "spend money you don't have" is the same as good credit is way over simplification. You have to borrow money to build credit because it's how you demonstrate to banks you're trust worthy and solvent.
