I didn’t grow up with many male friends, or friends in general, but I’ve had pretty solid male friends since college. They definitely make me want to be a better man.

spending more time with men This. The best way IMO to become a better man is to spend time with men who know how to be men.

Yes. Those are things men like, but they don’t make someone a man.

Gardening is hard work. It isn’t feminine at all.

This bothers me a lot too. I’m a guy who wants a relationship with a human being. I don’t care about sex. What I want is to feel valued, and it’s extremely frustrating that I can’t find that, not only due to my own shortcomings, but also because women can’t tell guys like me apart from the shallow assholes, and so we get treated like shallow assholes.

Every girl that was ever interested in me seems to have developed that interest because I was myself. Same goes for all the girls I have ever been friends with. That doesn’t at all mean I didn’t have to put in work developing some basic social skills and self confidence. You want to be who you are, but you want to be a good version of who you are. There’s a difference between faking and self improvement.

I had the exact same problem but as a man texting a woman. It definitely sucks. I want to have an interesting conversation but that requires both people to put effort into it. She answered my questions but never asked any of her own.

And honestly this is not the community to go to for that. You need a circle of guys who actually know each other and support each other, not a bunch of anonymous strangers throwing contradictory advice of varying levels of quality into the void

Trying to trick myself into thinking I’m not looking for a girlfriend never works, because I’m always aware that I really do want a gf, and trying to think otherwise is just denying reality

I think the point OP is getting at is not to put so much pressure on yourself, so that you can think about improving rather than how much you are lacking currently.

From what little experience I have, I think this is the way. Of course, confidence and how you carry yourself in dress, hygiene, and mannerisms are also important. It also doesn’t hurt to be physically attractive. Even then, different women have different preferences, and if the number of women you encounter is few to none, you’re still going to have problems even if you ace everything else

This is great. It puts into words a lot of what I have been trying to express about what it means to be masculine without being a misogynist

I’m in a similar situation. Used to do a lot of swing in college and was halfway decent. Then I graduated and forgot almost everything. I recently got back into it but my skills are nowhere near where they used to be. I definitely don’t feel like I would be showing much off to a girl, especially since some of the guys who are regulars at the place I go to are really really good

The sense that I get is that it’s totally fine to go on dates with as many girls as you want, right up to the point when you become exclusive with one of them. But yeah, I get it. It feels a lot easier and more natural to focus on one girl at a time. But if you’re not exclusive, why act like you are? There’s no guarantee that any one girl will work out, and people often find that one person that does work out in unexpected places. I always tell myself, “Of course I need one more girl in my life …

It is true that you are either attracted to someone or you’re not, but the 1-10 scale is a different thing. It’s an attempt at categorizing objective beauty, but ends up being applied based on the subjective preferences of the observer

Yeah no idea. I guess just talk to them and hope for the best. Kinda sucks though. I was talking to a girl who seemed around my age. She took her mask off and looked much younger.

I don’t do cold approach since it doesn’t seem like the best way to get the kind of relationship I’m looking for, but for me, there’s a big difference between “practicing” and “I’m actually interested in this woman.” I talk to many women I meet randomly as I go about my life, but since the chances of anything happening with a random stranger are so low, the only goal is to talk and to build social skills and confidence. I’m much more selective about the women I explore at least the faintest pote…

It’s easy to see interest in a girl that you’re interested in. I would go with what she said to other people versus what she did in your presence. If anyone, man or woman, can’t be honest with you, they’re not worth your time.

“Why are you so loud?” I usually get it from extroverted men who think I need to be enticed out of my shell and then I’ll magically become an extrovert

I can only go off of my personal experiences and preferences, but in terms of if a girl is long term relationship material, personality matters way more than appearance as long as she’s not grossly over or underweight. In terms of the physical attraction that might make a guy initially want to get to know a girl as a potential relationship, I find both curvy and skinny girls attractive, and I would be a little surprised if I was the only guy like that. So I really don’t think having a particular…

Not a woman, but the only conclusion I can reach is that women are human beings with just as varied personalities and preferences as men. There is no rule or technique that works for all women. Some things might be well received by some women but are an immediate turn off for others. The closest to a universal solution I can offer is don’t be afraid to talk to women, be genuine in all your interactions, and look for the women you get along well with

This is a little bit different than what happens for me. I’m generally most socially anxious when I view an interaction as having some kind of stakes, which is more likely to happen for me if I go out for the specific reason of talking to someone, especially if it’s an attractive woman. Errands and such are not socially anxious for me since I’m going out not to talk to people but to get food or something like that. The strategy that has worked best for me is to go about my normal life, going to …

Are you going out just to talk to people or are you going out for a normal reason but are open to talk to people if the opportunity presents itself? It’s likely that the first one could make you look a little desperate, while the second one is does not. It’s also quite possible that you’re only repelling people because you think you are repellent, which is causing you to act in a way that might turn people off. All this is complete speculation, though, since I don’t know anything about your situ…

Some people you just vibe with and other people you don’t. There’s no rhyme or reason to it. I had a good if short conversation with an extremely attractive woman yesterday that I realized later that maybe I could have gotten to go somewhere. About an hour or so later, I talked to a more averagely attractive woman and it went nowhere. I wasn’t cold approaching either. This was at work where I have to talk to a lot of people

/r/seduction13/09/21 05:44 AM

I wonder if it’s at least partially because people tend to come off as much more natural around people of the opposite sex they’re not attracted to than around people who they are attracted to, where anxiety gets in the way. I have noticed in my own experience that I don’t have much of a problem talking to women that I am not attracted to or who I think nothing can happen with, but as soon as I believe there’s some kind of stakes involved, I get much more nervous and shut off
/r/seduction11/09/21 02:19 PM

I agree with this. While “If you’re not sure if she’s interested, she’s not interested” probably saves a lot of guys from a lot of rejections, people take it way too seriously and treat it like an absolute exceptionless rule. Some guys are bad at reading signs. Some girls are bad at signaling interest. The last girl I dated, it took me a month to figure out she liked me back. She later told me that she had had feelings for me from the first time we met

Every time I try to get a girl to like me, it hasn’t worked. Every girl I’ve ever attracted has been the result of an accident, either I just went up and talked to her with no intention other than simply to talk to her, or I’ve done something nice/helpful to her with no motive other than that. I think the point is don’t go out and specifically try to get a girlfriend. Just maximize the chances of an accident happening. At least that’s the strategy in currently pursuing since the more direct one …

You can indirectly gauge a girl’s age by asking if she’s in college. It’s not rude to ask, and if she’s in high school, she’ll tell you

It sounds like she’s still getting over her previous boyfriend and may not want a relationship yet. Experience tells me it will probably take her months to get to a point where she’s ready to get back into dating

The mask allows you to imagine the lower half of their face anyway you want, and sometimes their face ends up looking pretty different

I can second this. I am pretty introverted and have always dealt with social anxiety, but getting a job as a cashier has done wonders for my social skills and my confidence in them even over the two months I’ve been there. It matters far more that your conversation is natural than you say the exact right thing to begin

I guess I use it as a filter. I’m not looking for any woman, I’m looking for the type of woman who is right for me. If she would rather get on Tinder or Insta and get validation from a bunch of dudes there, but no relationship, she is obviously not the kind of girl I’m looking for, so I know to move on and not waste anymore time on her

People on the internet can be a pretty poor mirror of reality sometimes. If you believed this sub, you would think that relationships almost never happen, yet if you go out in most public settings, there are couples everywhere. Some women think all men are creeps. Those same women are wrong and not the kind of person any self-respecting man should date. There are other women, however, who have a clearer view of reality and realize that there are good men out there as well as creeps

A very similar thing happens to me all the time. I know I should go over and talk to her, but the mere existence of that thought triggers anxiety and my mind just goes completely blank. If anything comes into my head, it’s completely weird and awkward things that would never make it past my filter even when I was feeling hyperconfident. I call it the empty quarter
/r/seduction19/08/21 01:15 AM

That’s fair, at least given what I know of your situation. No one can force you to do it anyway. You’re not just trying to meet a girl, you’re also trying to meet one that you would actually want to date, and if you’re a more laid back, introverted type of guy, you might not be as likely to find someone you would want to date at club than someone who is more extroverted might. I don’t look for girls at clubs since I know I want a more traditional long term relationship, and it seems like there a…

It sounds like your problem is not being unproductive. It sounds like you probably either need to broaden your demographic even if it means going outside of your comfort zone, or you need to find a way to more easily meet more girls within your niche. It might even be preferable to do both
/r/seduction17/08/21 07:14 PM

It really varies. Usually, it seems, since I don’t keep super accurate track, that I either get no eye contact or eye contact and a smile. I have no idea why I would get a smile and you wouldn’t. I’m pretty average looking and while I would never dream of hurting a woman, you can’t tell that just from appearances
/r/seduction17/08/21 12:30 AM

It’s also very easy for me to congratulate myself when I am able to pull one of the steps off for the first or second time, but after the novelty of the thing wears off, I end up treating it as a lack of progress when I make it there, even though the mere fact of repetition is progress. Each time I learn and gain a little more experience. I’m very much at the beginning stages. I’m focusing on approaching and talking to girls, not really trying anything romantic at the moment

As a guy, I have pretty much no experience in rejecting being hit on as openly as that, but I can give advice as to hot guy. At least in my experience, all but the most traditional-minded guys, who are not particularly common, would love to be approached by a woman. This is especially true in public settings like coffee shops where they feel like any woman they try to approach and talk to is going to think they’re a creep. Being approached as a guy is incredibly validating and suggests that he i…

I’m of the opinion that the only league you’re in is the one you put yourself in. Don’t let a girl’s attractiveness keep you from trying. I’ve seen lots of couples consisting of a beautiful girl and a guy who was average at best.

It’s really hard to tell, and probably depends on the specific girl’s personality. Some might be more social with someone they like and others might be less social. The best way to detect the presence or absence of interest I have found is to watch how she interacts with other men. If she interacts with you differently than how she interacts with them, she might be interested in you. This might work better for introverted girls than extroverted girls, though, since at least some introverts are l…
