Jane Eyre is a novel for pick mes - Wide Sargasso Sea is a book from the perspective of the first Mrs. Rochester. I think it kind of shows what life was like without options and is a good mirror for Jayne Eyre. Tess of the D’Urbervilles show the hypocrisy of LVMs and the harm they can do women. Kate Chopin’s The Awakening but I found it boring. AAAAALLLLL of Sylvia Plath and Adrienne Rich for poetry. If you want to read about LVW/M ruining everything Anna Karenina lol.

No, you’re not worth talking to because you keep putting words in my mouth. That’s why I didn’t bother and sarcastically congratulated you. Of course I don’t support porn. I support an individual’s choice to make porn if it’s of their own choosing and I would never shame a person forced into porn and there’s a lot that goes into that. But you’re going to say I support porn because you have the reading comprehension and discernment of a 3rd grader.

Your comment has made me feel like this whole shitshow was worth it. Thank you. If you’re interested a bit more about the capitalism part of femaleness you should read Women, Race, and Class by Angela Davies. It’s a bit dated but really good and I think gives an interesting perspective that all of the problems feminism tries to address are actually caused by capitalism and we could solve them with a more communistic/socialist society. Anyway, thanks again for understanding my position.

None of what you pasted is the exploitation of women.

I have not heard of her but jeez, lol. I don’t know how she got into prostitution or porn, so I can’t really say, but I don’t think women being forced into sex work to survive would be something any feminist would be supportive of. If she chose that over other options I think it deserves deeper examination of possible childhood sex abuse conditioning her. As for the gallery exhibit - conceptually I think it’s interesting. I’m not sure it’s inherently pornographic.

Gloria Steinem and Sylvia Plath are solidly second wave feminists That's what I said. So - there's a disconnect here. Taking away anyone's personal choice is impugning on their personal liberties and that I do believe. I don't think pornography should be banned, or even prostitution. I take responsibility for my own sexuality and wouldn't let anyone tell me what I can or can't do. I believe personal choice is paramount. I don't believe most people in porn are choosing that lifestyle nor are they…

And how do LibFems support that? How did they not dissent against the objectification of women? How did they not point out that porn is harmful in the sexual maturation of boys? They did, they were there. If you were too young to notice or not listening, that's on you. That's literally my only point.

I don't know why you're generalizing to all "LibFems". I personally do think there is some value in media that actually shows how a woman is pleasured and gets off because if porn is here, might as well have representation. On the flip side of that, it's not like men are watching that porn so it won't make a difference anyway. I think the actual issue with porn and "LibFems" that you're having here is capitalism. Any way there is to make money a capitalist will and sex work is the oldest profess…

You’re acting like a reddit martyr and pickme. No, I'm not. If you just dismiss everything you don't agree with on the surface you'll literally never learn anything. I think porn is generally a front for human trafficking. I think that it sets unrealistic standards for men and women. I think it damages self-esteem and relationships. It's not a good thing. My only point is that LibFems don't support porn. No one is willing to have the conversation around that because LibFem automatically makes yo…

I absolutely understand why the sub does not support the commercial porn industry. I don't understand why this sub thinks LibFems do. They don't. Instead of answering the question I posed people jumped to "ur so dumb/missing the point". Just came back with the same energy.

I don't know. Me and most of my friends are "LibFems" and none of us are like "YES, PORN IS GREAT AND EMPOWERING", most of us find it exceptionally gross. There is a subsection of porn that is actually for women and that is not as gross and usually it's female-owned but that's the only conceivable way I could see it being "pushed". I think this is just a strange opinion OP has that isn't based in fact.

Surprise gifts: my bf bought us tickets to a book tour in Nashville we're both interested in and surprised me with them. He also bought my plane ticket for vacation since he asked me to go. Where does this whole LibFems pushing porn narrative come from? At most there's been a push for porn that caters to women instead of men. As far as "traditional" porn, MEN have been pushing that, not women.

Tradwives and their scrotes are just larping some 1950s fantasy This is exactly what I was going to reply. It's not really that they're "traditional" - they just picked a time when women were compliant with being subjugated after WWII and the resulting economic boom.

No I totally agree with you. I have PTSD too and yelling is out. I also feel like he gaslit diamond to get around him not telling her. I wanted to like him but he sucked SO hard. Kenny was a champ. Apparently they talked about it and both he and Kelly agreed to say no but she had the misfortune of going first. Either way he showed himself to be a HVM by the way he talked to the families.

I think I said it that way because both people are black. I think it’s also more of an issue in the Latino culture (being a Latina I think it’s more of an issue to be a “catcher” than a “pitcher”. No don’t sweat it. In my mind it’s like someone saying you not wanting to date a fat person or trans person is fatphobic or transphobic. It’s not - it’s sexual or romantic preference. People might be offended by your choice but you should NEVER feel pressured or obligated to sleep with or date someone you don’t want to. I will say I don’t think any of those things makes someone a bad partner inherently, but ultimately respect people’s choices in their partners! I’ve been struggling a long time w…

Oh I’m not even trying to say you need to be more open. To each their own! As a bi person myself I think it’d make me a hypocrite to not date other bi people but I fully understand wanting a 100% hetero relationship. I guess from my POV it’s less about being bi than it is loving to sleep around. And him saying he could only have a love relationship with a woman. He was ticking a bunch of boxes that really just meant “unstable”! I’ve met bi guys that are extremely monogamous but Carlton did not give me that vibe lol. And the daddy hat. Come onnnnnn.

Carlton was the big one for me. I'm bi so I was rooting for him, but he kept that from Diamond until after proposing. From what I understand about the black community, it's a pretty big deal to sleep with men, and he knew it was going to be a problem. When she needed a second to think it over he immediately tried to put the blame on her for being homophobic which was not the case. He was acting like a total asshole before he told her too. I have noticed the kids thing but I honestly think that for women who don't want kids it's like an expectation for us and it can be relieving to find a space where we can talk about not wanting them. Besides truechildfree (which makes sense) the only other place I've noticed it is trollx.

I fucking LOVE this show. I think Cameron and Lauren was an example of a HVM and HVW finding each other and being like hell yeah. And then you've got Barnett and Amber who are both objectively low value assholes but their love is such scummy purity I can't help but root for them. edit: and just in case anyone tells me Barnett and Amber are not low value - Barnett lets his dog shit inside and Amber is a 100% dick to other women.

If you're apprised of those risks and willing to take them for some potential benefit to you, I don't see the problem with making an informed choice. A lot of men suck in bed. Some of them are really, really good. I was willing to chance it sometimes for the ones that were good and those were the ones I made FWBs. The ones that sucked, I ditched. I might be in the minority, but I really enjoy sex and was willing to go out and get it.

My opinion on this when I was single was: Do I want sex? Yes. Do I care from who? Not really. Do I want to get into a relationship just to have sex? Fucking hell no. It was just a transaction on both sides, so I don't think it's necessarily bad. I think the feminist take is that some women can and do enjoy transactional NSA sex and aren't always into having a relationship. I think that it's up to each woman to decide if she's willing to take those risks to have sex. If she is, there's no point in shaming her. I had a dude once call me a five. He was 5'4", in grad school for like Literature and lived in a studio apartment and got whiny with me because I was still planning on going on dates with other men after we had slept together twice and said I "almost made him cry". Good. CRY ME A RIVER, BISH.

Ok, so like 3+ years ago I made a post on the ENTP subreddit about standards, etc. and I actually made a list about what I valued because I thought it'd be rather therapeutic. Here is my rather humble list. HERE IS THE FUCKING RESPONSE I GOT Apparently I'm MAterIaLIsTIc ANd UGly. :eyeroll: So that's what men think about standards lmao.

Ahhh the benefits of being born to teenaged parents. I’m still depressed and anxious but at least I’m cute lol.

Bet she divorces him in 3 years once she’s maxed out the prenup. I don’t think she’s a pickmeisha. I think she likes money.

Some Kind of Wonderful is a great movie from the 80s where the male protagonist ends up with his tomboy bestie. Eric Stoltz and Mary Stuart Masterson are just too damn cute.

I did. I’m not being degraded and I don’t think I’m better than anyone else.

If anything I’ve been holding him to higher standards since finding this sub and he’s responded positively and with even more validation. I guess I was a little confused by the negativity in some of the comments. The guy’s paying for my entire vacation to Florida but “the bar is on the floor”? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Welp. I like him. He’s currently setting up a kegerator with cold brew coffee and raspberry seltzer on tap for me. Seems good to me!

But he changed his behavior to meet expectations and meet my needs, including talking about his feelings and offering to go to therapy. Isn’t that pretty much the definition of a HVM? That to me shows he values me. Also someone can portray being stoic or masculine and that doesn’t mean that they’re not valuable. And I use FDS principles now. I wasn’t aware of it at the time. But thanks for passing judgment. Edit: I’d like to add that I was not being a pickmeisha when I met him, I told him like t…

Dicknotized? Don’t get me wrong once I knew I wasn’t going to blow him off I enforced boundaries and required him to communicate with me in an appropriate way to meet my needs. Read the bullet point about the breakup. He’s been perfect since then because I won’t tolerate a bad relationship.

If it makes you feel better, I (female) once accidentally watched Aubrey Plaza masturbate from that hacking thing because I was like "what, how would they even get this, it can't be her" without realizing that it was from the "fappening".

I once gave a man a bike. For free. Because I wanted him to like me. My friend was so pissed at me and was like “this is the most outrageous thing you’ve done for d” I’m not proud of that lol.

I'm not most people's definition of attractive (though I'm cute and can be charming). The only time I had a difficult time getting laid is when I had a buzz cut. It's literally the easiest thing in the world. Note that it's not from HVMs, but if I need dick I can get it.

I'm a recovering Bobbi the Builder and I've definitely yelled "Not your mom, not your shrink" at my bf (more for myself than for him, but it did lead to a brief breakup because he was just not doing the things he should have been) and he's definitely had to remind to stop trying to fix him. It's hard when you've been raised that way. I was always trying to fix my mom so she would love me and I never got closure from it. But between a cat, dog, trying to buy a house, and a sane, lovely bf I'm fin…

I might also suggest Codependents Anonymous, which I went to for about a year. Also check out Codependent No More by Melody Beatty. Boundaries (imo) are the first step in becoming a HVW - and having standards and protecting yourself. I like to write them as "if this, then that" statements like in philosophy or coding. Is he on your mortgage? If not you can issue an eviction notice (you'll have to look up the laws about how long you need to give him) and if he fails to vacate you can call the pol…

I've kicked and punched my ex once he hit me first and it usually got things to stop because I was a better fighter than him and he was usually loaded. Every person does what they need to do to survive. She should have just called the cops when he showed up though. I've done that to that ex too. edit: For those downvoting, I'm assuming you've never been in a position where you've had to actually fight to defend yourself. I don't think that was OP's situation, but it was mine and it is a lot of o…

I've found that LVW and pickmeishas only ever want to talk about my relationship and it's potential issues instead of like my actual life. It's fuckin' annoying. Don't they think about anything else?

My mom did try to teach me all this stuff and I didn't listen because I thought it was sexist and frustrating. Nearing 30 now but I'll still never tell her she was right lmao.

that way you weed out guys who don't "accept you for you" and find someone with the same values. I actually have used this strategy. It doesn't bother me if people think I'm a "slut" and it does actually weed out misogynists. I won't disclose my number to "good" men or people I know have low body counts. I guess I really only do it to shock people into not dating me lmao.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy14/01/20 03:25 PM

IMO I actually feel like a HVM won't care. And I actually have used my "number" to weed out shit-heels. But I value someone who isn't misogynistic and won't hold me to a double-standard. I feel like caring about anyone's number is kind of shitty.

My sister has had her period since she was 10 and is turning 18 in a couple months and still looks like a child. She has some womanly attributes (big butts run in the family) but like her face, the quality of her skin, her hair, etc. is still childish and I can't imagine her looking like a woman for at least another 5 years. I look at pictures of me in college and I didn't really look like a woman even though I had large boobs and in my mind was an adult. I look like a teenager. That's a kid.

Yassss! When I subscribed I was really worried this was going to be like Red Pill Women (who internalize all the fucked up shit Red Pill says about women and try to play that game) but this sub is so fucking empowering and truthy. And I also think "high value" can be subjective or "negotiable" in some ways. There are certain ways in which I'm "low value" (I'm overweight and I smoke, etc.). That doesn't mean I have no value as a person and I could change those things if I wanted to and I'm high v…

Thank you - I had no idea it got removed! It's not a big deal to drink while breastfeeding if you "pump & dump" for like 12 hours after. As for weed, I have no idea. But yeah. Don't impregnate a 25 year old and expect her to act like a 35 year old.

Especially when he’s like “right that’s what I’m trying to get her to do” and Dr. Phil is like “oh my god”. He is SO up his own ass he doesn’t realize that it’s insane. As a true blue narcissist he wouldn’t realize that people actually have their own inner lives and thoughts so he wouldn’t realize how they actually perceive him... which is not well.

I fucking looooove that movie. I think the punchline is actually pretty good on this joke and depending on his delivery I think it's actually saying "because they're all fucking pedophiles" but I think it's lost a bit by being presented in text. I actually used to do stand up and trying to submit to stand up shots was the worst. I usually had to rewrite my entire joke and punchline just to have it make sense without delivery.
