Amen to this! Already doing this, not to be prideful but my dad game is pretty epic, my kids absolutely adore me. The situation you described actually just happened with her other kid from a previous marriage (he wanted out). People keep their distance from her because she is toxic, even her own family can only take small doses. Thanks for this reminder. I need to be careful not to get exhausted and stay on my game.

You are right I’m focused on the residential / physical part, not legal. Sounds like I need to take what I get and if she slips up down the road I can file for a revision.

Wowwee I’m so sorry man. I feared this was the other side of the coin. Super bummer. Thank you for the reminder

I don’t trust her ability to single mom the kids when stress occurs she snaps and checks out. When mom mode is on she’s decent, but you never know when that turns off. One time she threw our daughter on the ground the day of her surgery. She can verbally badger them. She doesn’t know how to do 4th grade homework. My kids need extra support. I can keep the kids in the marital home to minimize disruption and have my mom live in as a full time nanny. They can visit her when mom mode is on. Unfortun…

How’s your heart? I see a boat load of head knowledge and rules. Dig deep and really worship the Lord your God. Get connected to a church. Find other men. Go into a dark room and meditate. “God, who do you say I am?” Less tricks. More heart.

Stuff stuff stuff (Complain about sex) Stuff stuff (Complain about sex) More stuff (Complain about sex) Cool, so, we’re complaining about sex. Surprise surprise, all women know men want a bunch of hot sex. If this is how you communicate with her, no wonder she doesn’t want to do it. What are you fighting about at 52, having been married 30 years and baptized since 25?? By now everything should be a well oiled machine. The problem is your neediness. Put it to death.

This is kind of a weird question. The way I’ve heard it explained is the concept of headship, where God is the Father yet equal to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. You are head over your wife but she is equal heir to the throne. The rest seems to delve into guidance on how to live this out well. Maybe start with the gospels and emulate Jesus in your regular behaviors. Strive to reach greater maturity. And finally love God with your whole heart, mind, and soul.

Oh weird, I’m actually reading this book right now and saw a post of this cover. Lots of great books out there, this one ain’t bad so far, not my favorite but plenty of truth. The writing style is kind of like catering to blue collar I don’t read book types. I’m more sophisticated than that. Anchorman is another good dad book. Doorkeeper is a really brief version of these. I need to go back and finish Grace based parenting that’s actually quite clever. Wild at heart is my all time favorite, more…

Yikes so many comments my head is spinning. By and large what you described is the typical differences in male and female. Stop wasting your time labeling it, this is God’s creation, you are his son, she is his daughter. Take your supplication to God and leave it there. Learn to deny self. Listen and wait. What is He telling you to do? Then do it. The other stuff will work itself out.

There is this funny graphic in the book Man in the Mirror. It plots women on an axis that is rebellious / submissive and men on hate / love. How does your marriage score? Your entire post is all about works, not faith. You wield the law over your wife like a Pharisee. You failed to lead your wife well and now she is carried away by some strange teaching. Reverse course and pursue a relationship with Jesus. Let the Holy Spirit guide your ways. Once you fix yourself your wife will follow.

Do you have any biblical reference to all this banter? Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. You are setting yourself up for trouble. If Jesus was married would he “pin his wife up against the wall and give her a hard tongue kiss”? Seriously… this is childish.

What does "being Christian" mean to you? Can you elaborate? Are there any groups for this sort of thing, like AA for porn? This level of addiction is a little out of my wheelhouse. The terrible thing about porn is that it sticks in your mind. If this were drugs or AA you could get locked in a room until you detox, but how do you detox from images ingrained in your brain?! A lot of people say they are christian, but its just words. We are called to act. If you don't act, then you aren't. That doe…

4-6 hours on porn? Holy crap dude. An eye opener for me was a site called your brain on porn. Once I viewed it as poison, it was easier to go cold turkey. Conviction of the Holy Spirit was certainly a big help as well. This is doing a lot of damage. Flee from it. Repent and be baptized. Your soul depends on it.

Sorry bro, this sucks, but it is a pretty common playbook in life. You called it out - your attachment disorder, her emotional affairs (probably physical at this point too). Now that you have found the truth, you can move towards your purpose. First, I see some lies in this story, and all of us have fell for them. This is why we commune so we can speak truth to one another. The comment about feminism - drop the labels. This world is fallen, don’t waste your energy on blame and focus on being the…

Probably overthinking it. Virgin, not a virgin, how do these labels accomplish God’s purpose? Being self-sufficient is definitely an asset, I am sure the plan will be revealed in the best timing. As for your target mate, her fruit will tell what you need to know. Her past should not be anyone’s concern for we all fall short but have been saved by His grace.

Sorry to hear that brother, this treachery is very hurtful. Paul talks about the spouse left behind being called to peace. However in Hosea we see a message about taking someone back *if they repent. We easily get sucked into legalism when we start debating these trying areas and trying to find the one verse that answers the question. This is an opportunity to get closer to God and live life led by the spirit. In this manner, the answer (go left or right) becomes much more clear. Scripture is yo…

Knowing God is relational. Instead of repeating the Lord’s Prayer over and over, ask God to show up, and reveal Himself to you. Keep seeking and you will find. Your situation will ultimately be a testimony to others. 5 years from now when you run into a younger brother and he says “I just don’t get it”, you can witness to him. Also try doing His work. Gathering head knowledge for equipping is great but if we don’t ‘do’ we become a swamp and we stop feeling anything. Be more like a river. Go serv…

Maybe try doing some mission work, join men’s groups, stop any habitual sin that you’re doing, and stop giving your wife a report card. If you stop idolizing her and blaze you’re own path she’ll drop her junk and follow you.

This is way off the rails and I don’t know where you got sexual pleasure from hell, nothing I wrote comes close to that, I said it was a blessing from God (when part of marriage between a man and a woman) I think we’re done here.

Intimacy is important. OP can certainly share his desires and should, transparency is paramount. But the entitled aspect must be set aside. We are entitled to nothing but the lake of fire, by His grace we get any of these things that are good. OP should also look to God first when struggling with fulfillment (is the cross not enough?). For instance he may meditate, “God search me, is there anything impure in my heart, help me understand why there is this current limitation in my marriage, help m…

“Every man should be getting BJs”, “BJs are required”, “be cautious about having kids” None of this is biblical advice. What is the point of this forum? How is any of this glorifying to God? Let God bless the marriage and do not idolize foolish things of this world.

John Eldredge, Wild at Heart. This book will show you what a real man looks like and clearly points out all the traps us older men have fell for, before we were saved. You are young and have a blank slate. Choose wisely.

Hello friend, the most important thing above all is to know the good news. You speak of religion and philosophy. Life is not about religion and philosophy, it is about relationship. I will share this with you in bullet form: Jesus is God and came to earth to be born as a baby and grow into a man, fully man, fully God. Then he allowed the Jews and Romans to torture Him as he walked up a mountain and was nailed to a cross. This was a very physcially and emotionally excruciating process. Then He ga…

Thank you Jesus for better days! God is so good. I have had a tendency to oscillate up and down too but the more I give into His will and live for His mission the more sunny days I have and the cloudy days are weaker and fewer in number. Sometimes we have to know what we’re up against and fight back. My stubbornness can be an asset at times. “Not today Satan!” Check out a book called Conquer on spiritual warfare or the podcast the place we find ourselves (I think it’s in season 3). Get the weapo…

Hey sorry for the long hiatus, I've been really busy with more pressing things, I did read what you spent a long time typing out, just wasn't able to respond. I don't think we're fully connecting on sanctification. I guess what I'm getting at is that it should be spirit-led. So yes /u/Deep_Strength is correct that a husband (or anything really) can be a vehicle. There are also right and wrong ways to rebuke. We can't beat our wives over the head with Ephesians, 1 Peter, and Corinthians. Regardin…

So dread is really just a consequence of the wife not following her calling where the husband is. I think in that sense it is a reasonable description of putting it in worldly terms. Where I had got concerned is if a man revels in her dread, recognizing that she is in distress, and taking joy in it. I guess it can be a thin line the way I’m thinking of it, we are one flesh after all. Original red pill says to create dread by making her jealous if I’m remembering that right and that is not Jesus …

How do you reconcile “dread” with: ““So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:12‬ ‭ESV‬‬ “Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:7‬ ‭ESV‬‬ “Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you…

Take also means to hold. When you follow Jesus you hold a banner over your head. Those that claim to follow Jesus but then don’t back it up with action are “holding His name in vein”. It’s like the guy that goes to church every Sunday but when he is with his college buddies they gawk at women walking down the street, consumed by sexual sin. His friends see this behavior and dismiss his walk with Christ. I don’t think it’s as much about the curse words we typically think of.

Hey OP, you are getting a lot of advice here from a single mindset. Here are a few new things to chew on. Try looking up first. If you are close with God then you should be able to hear His direction through the Holy Spirit. Maybe He is trying to teach you something by being in this trial. Maybe it’s the way you tithe, or a heart posture issue, or making this a little ‘g’. Lead your wife by example in your walk with Jesus. It is unlikely she will submit to you until she first submits to Him. She…

Anyone care to share a testimonial of a wife that has joyfully submitted after being “spanked by the Bible”? Anyone feel intoxicated by the fruit of joy by the Holy Spirit after the spanking? It’d be interesting to see some stats.

God created anger so we could lose control when we don't get what we're owed? That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I'm not going to argue with you, so this is my last post on the matter. I leave the group with 3 final questions: If Jesus was sitting at your desk and read your post, what do you think he would say? If you got in a time machine back to before you and your wife got married, and she read this post, what do you think she would say? If your wife read this post now, what d…

Yea see it’s getting flipped around there again. This isn’t about me and what I owe people. This is about you. For example, if I “owe” or “ought” to love my spouse, that does not mean she is owed me loving her. And if my spouse “ought” or “must” submit to me that does not mean I deserve a submissive wife. The law is between you and God. Not you and your wife. In practicality when your wife sins against you, let her answer to the conviction of the Holy Spirit rather than beating her over the head…

"Owed", "Deserve". I think these are dangerous words in any context, man or woman, in the context of marriage or not. Are we not saved by His grace, which was only His to give, that we did not earn, therefore one may conclude that what we are owed is to be thrown in the lake of fire.

My story may help but based on the downvotes I already received, I don’t think this group is going to be open to any type of rebuke should something ungraceful or unglorifying become exposed. Groupthink may be at play. Also I fear this may be a cult. Taking the pieces of the Bible that support RP and casting aside the things that would not be in support of RP. When I participate here, something doesn’t feel right in my spirit. Like this is centered around getting more sex and viewing men and wom…

I'm following most of this except the part about initiating with your wife a bunch of times, and continuing to do it after she says no, and then following that up with deliberately avoiding time to emotionally connect over coffee, and then setting a plan to keep the initiating going every other day (wow). Can you describe your reasoning around this? Does it create anxiety for your wife, knowing she has to weigh saying no vs. doing something she doesn't want to do? To the person who dropped all t…

"We're up-front and honest with the fact that we're sinners and failures." You are not a sinner if you have been saved. Often pastors state this wrongly. You were a sinner, but now you have been wiped clean. Yes you still sin, because you make mistakes, but you are not a sinner. Romans 6 and Romans 7:14-25. You are also not a failure. We have all fallen short of grace Romans 3:23, but this does not make the saved, failures. This would be a put down, done by one of satan's minions, to try to sap …
