My wife put a pause on the divorce and we are working on things slowly. I still feel like a shell of my former self but so thankful for time with my kids and the opportunity. I’ll pray for you and hope for a happy resolution my man.

This was exactly my same thought process. I really stopped caring about my own mental wellbeing and was only concerned for my kids and how this would affect them. Stay strong brother, they will need a dad who is always there for them. It will get easier eventually.

I see this as a small price to pay for an opportunity to work toward fixing something I imagine you aren’t ready to walk away from.

What I have learned from the past week is that a stbx is one of few people who know your insecurities, your vulnerabilities, and the best ways to leave you hurt and confused. Focus on you king and let her play the games.

You absolutely nailed every portion of this comment all the way down to age. I have a meeting with a divorce attorney and my therapist set up for next week. This is all so hard and I appreciate you being a compassionate ear as I feel so alone.

Man that’s a very different scenario than mine. I have been heading towards lower contact over the last two days and mine is yelling, getting physical, telling me to leave, locking doors, and just being downright nasty.

I needed this response more than you know. I keep trying to do small things for her in hopes to get a thank you or a moment of gratitude but instead it’s met with an “I told you I don’t need you to do that”. I know that starting to work on me is only going to continue to feed her anger.

If you could go back and give your past self some advice, what would it be?

I had already reached out to a few therapists to try and make sense of what I am feeling. I can tell you one thing for sure, I have no interest in dating anyone any time soon. I have no desire to be vulnerable or open my life up to anyone who disturbs my peace. This has absolutely broken my faith in relationships.

It’s really hard to not say anything when she is constantly slamming drawers, walking around pissed off, or occasionally sending a random hurtful text over some minor unintentional transgression. I just apologize and keep my head down because I know if I engage, I will lose my cool too.

Cheating honestly isn’t what I’m worried about. She’s way too busy with the kids and turning off location is more of a punishment tool she’s used in the past because she knows I hate being unaware and in the dark.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
