Yep. I know the feeling, been there. Can't ruminate on that, it's their insecurity that made them do it.

It's scary for a narcissist to have to face themselves and their failures/faults. We're all human and have them, just don't you go and set yourself on fire to keep others warm. Welcome home devil dawg, you'll have your deployment shredded body back in no time. Good luck!

I think of that scene in Fight Club when Edward Norton bashes the ever living fuck out of Jared Leto's character just because he wanted to 'destroy something.' I hold back because beating the son of a 2-timing mongrel scabby bitch isn't worth me going to jail.

It's a terrible feeling that many of us here can relate to, sorry OP. Definitely need to 'grey rock/180' this soulless creature. This is classic Schadenfreude, she enjoys watching you in pain. Keep doing you and moving forward, that's the most important piece to the puzzle.

I can relate OP, thanks for sharing this perspective. Fully agree. As far as the expectation goes, you're absolutely right. Anybody who thinks you need to be all these things is out of their fuckin mind. It's supposed to be a 2-way street that sometimes becomes a 1-way alley. There are some out there that won't complicate things and understand it's unrealistic, you'll have to sort out those ladies, but they do exist. Take things slow, work on yourself, maybe one day you'll bump into someone resp…

Amen to that brother, had a long pause from the sauce that lasted a year, it helps. I do so now cautiously and socially, but focus on health, exercise & diet, family (kids), and career. Had a major identity crisis so the hobbies thing so hasn't stuck but therapy helps and I live near a huge lake that Ib sometimes visit to be alone and stare off into the water and nature to clear my thoughts.

Keep up the good work OP. I know it's hard but a lot of progress has been made. Focus on that and yourself first and foremost, you don't need somebody else to make you happy right now as you still have some fixing to do for yourself, counseling Definitely helps with that. Stay away from self medicating, and the exercise is a good distraction along with the health benefits from it. Hobbies too. Sounds like you're making all the right moves, just keep at it. Negative emotions and rumination happen…

Hey OP, she's living in your head rent free still. Need to evict her and do your thing with your kids, that ship has sailed already and she is making her own plans in life without your approval. Time to reciprocate and live your best life my friend!

Going to agree with Pro here. Having eyes on their choices in new partners is another downside to this part time parenting thing. Not all exes have sound judgement and there are a lot of creeps out there in the world. You hope for the best but always prepare for the worst with the OM. ESPECIALLY if any of you have daughters.

Sorry but had to laugh with you at the Hyundai, taller, fitter part... that's me to a T if you exclude the younger & dumber part. Also not dating or banging any divorced/ separated women. Good on you for separating your son from the mess and keep up the good work. I'm focusing on the kids, career, and workouts to pass the time until my mess is sorted out.

Had to drop mine as well (mine is a dude), wouldn't follow simple instructions on purpose so I would end up calling or meeting, would bill the time, fuck up next steps from there, and so on and so on. This brought me right back to the limbo stage, took a bunch of savings, and now too busy right now with a business endeavor to take on vetting new lawyers. I'm obviously in the wrong line of work! Should go back to school and get my Law degree! Kids need their Dad in their life, so keep up the good…

Sorry to bear the bad news, she has carefully inspected this scenario only to come up with complex math solutions that lean in her favor - point blank, there is a side to her that's after money. I've been on here very sparse lately, but if you need to talk I'm around. I have my good moments and bad ones through this. We take our freedom for granted until one day it's gone. Glad you found both peace & freedom simultaneously, I wish you well.

Sorry you had to go through this, but don't let 'them' shut you up. If you have something to say, say it loud & proud. Some women will rally the whole village against you and count on your silence so they can accomplish this feat. 'They' can cancel me and ridicule me all they want for speaking up, I'd rather die facing my opponent(s) eye-to-eye than on my knees submitting. I know this dynamic all too well, and when a female starts down this path it can grow into something worse and they'll justi…

Hi Roshi, sorry about your pain. All the crying is the emotion flushing itself out, looks like you have a backlog. There's no shame in it, some bottle up their stuff and it evolves into something uglier down the road. Let me help you - start calling her your STBXW (soon-to-be-x-wife). I know the sound will sting a bit, but as you normalize a rational and safe path forward it will become muscle memory. There are plenty of folks here who have moved on to greener pastures after divorce. Train your …

Nice! I take back what I said completely. I don't journal for the sake of not reminding myself; I do a damned good job of ruminating without the journal. I'm actually considering this approach. My struggle would be keeping this private and away from her prying eyes so I can avoid more BS to argue over or a whole new topic to have to take on. Mine has been very apologetic still for a bit now, and hasn't flipped back to the entitled rug-sweeping behavior. Not holding my breath though, just giving …

Sorry you're going through it brother. Not knocking the list, but maybe try to focus on things that bring you joy. That list might be an example of both pain shopping and dwelling on negativity. I know it's easier said than done, and we need closure when we're hurt by people we care about. I'm doing a little better so far this week, but have distracted myself by playing catch up on a lot of different things that passed me by the last few weeks.

Acceptance is a hard thing in life, I learned during a separation I had. It was an awful moment, and the clarity of it was blinding. There's no pill, pain reliever, morphine, or drug that will numb out that life lesson. As harsh as it sounds, it will also set you free. Feels like salt in a wound, but once healed, you'll be a new stronger man. Find that acceptance through creating your new life (hobbies, adventures, new friends, etc.). Don't avoid the experience or go around it, go through it and…

Hi BC, sorry this is happening to you. My story has some similarity to yours, especially the family dynamic. This is a great place to vent, just like the subreddit is named, we're all men in some stage of divorce and a lot of great folks here. You're not alone, even though you'll convince yourself that some days. It will be a rollercoaster of emotions, but take good care of your health with exercise and diet. she would never get a divorce cause it messed her up so much when her parents divorced when she was young I heard that line too, makes me wonder if they all have the same playbook. Reinforcing everybody else's view on the "You Don't Wanna Know" bit. It's a shitty spot to be in once you find out, and you can't put that bullet back in the gun. Speaking from experience here. Don't confront her and get yourself a lawyer, you'll pat yourself on the back later. Someone else pointed out that she'll seek out more cheat buds, believe this as if it's one of the 10 Cheater's Commandments. Wishing you better days and good fortune ahead brother.

Thanks Worm, didn't mention I ran out of options. Dealing with this is too much for one person to handle. Sorry that happened to you, but again, if you knew me in real life, you'd know I don't give in to stupid people's behaviors. That's why I hired the lawyer, to put some smoke under the keister.

Sorry about your situation brother. Mine may be that type too. She's unhinged and completely unpredictable right now. Somebody somewhere else mentioned a lot of 40 something women are going through epiphanies right now, I think it's more of a symptom of a failing society, just my two cents.

Very wise words, I know it's an obvious thing to hear yet so simple to forget, I've been told this a lot in life. I definitely suffer from 'take-things-too-personally-itis' since being a young lad. I do have the aches and pains in the legs, neck, and lower back from all this stress. Even accidentally bite my tongue on occasion from all the daytime teeth grinding. I'll look into frequent massages for me!! Thanks again.

Thanks Broakie, appreciate the kind words. She's actually actively trying to stay, yet she recently explored options and hid it well for a while, and also not being forthright about that detail. She wants to 'fight for our marriage' and has done a little work for once... and claims she'll do anything for us to stay together. Not buying it. Problem is I don't and can't trust her right now, but I still care about her and it devastates me the kids know and are really hurt, too. To anybody out there…

It just means you're resilient and tend to persevere. I wouldn't beat yourself up about it, you have kids too. Those of us who do tough things out for a bit and try to assist changes for the better. As for the in-laws, you don't owe them a damned thing. If they pull that crap kick 'em to the curb and if she defends their entitled behavior let her know she is violating a major boundary. Sounds like they're miserable and won't help your situation out at all, focus your energy elsewhere.

Thank you LowMain! (man that makes me want Chinese food now lol) Funny how a few words from a contentious spouse can really get folks who were once nice to you (maybe they were fake about it and hated you the whole time) to just wanting to hunt you down pitchfork and torch style.

Modern anything in and of itself is pretty flawed. We're the apex species on the planet yet live the most unfulfilled lives. I think we need to step back from all this so-called new-age thinking and technological advancement, just to look at the big picture for a moment. Then we can sort out the misinformation and become better people. Sorry for the rant, hope you're getting through this ok.

I agree with most here on the narcissist topic, everyone cares about themselves to some degree. It's when the self-preservation involves abnormal behaviors and also comes at the expense of others, especially vulnerable folks who can't fight or won't fight back, that's a true narcissist.

Hey OP, nothing wrong with you. You have been repeatedly under a boatload of stress, over & over & over again... This, like all the other negativity leading up to the end of your marriage, will pass. It might behoove you to 'shock' your worn-out, jaded system with some spontaneous trips or exciting new thrills in your life. I would move on OP, but hold off on finding someone new. Talking from experience, mine is pulling the same BS. She is apologetic after both getting caught having affairs and a failed reconciliation (lied her way through it and didn't put in effort with IC/MC, kept up with AP etc etc). My STBXW has mainly one mood now, super apologetic but gets upset when she has to face any of the facts behind her affairs and lies, which she avoids like the plague. She minimizes also, which is only causing more …

Lack of accountability is the common theme here fellas. For some reason, not just women, I see many folks with this notion that they have to have a 'perfect image' at all times, social media and public. Hey OP, Signal is 100% right here. You have to stop communicating with words, it's not working. Time to take action, move all your stuff individually, let her fend for herself for now. Don't make any payments for her credit cards, bills in her name, etc etc. Get that lawyer yesterday, see if she's willing to sign an agreement for that 50/50 split with the bells and whistles, it'll make your divorce happen more expediently and with less headache. Shame along with self-preservation is a powerful thing ES, in a way I feel awful for them. They're drowning in a glass of water when they hold that negativity in. Something I learned recently, when we stop talking, we pause the progress/healing/moving forward in any relationship. I know she brings it up a lot, but there is a safe way to process it and talk about it, and a better way for her to engage that convo as well. I've been on both sides of that, saying from experience here. If she has skeletons in her closet, maybe you both bring this to MC to hash it out, or at least to get along for the kids until D is finalized. The flip side is, if you have a c…
