I have Fitzpatrick Type II skin. I burn and don't really tan. Any advice? It's really easy to be good looking and just tell everyone else that they can be good looking too. I find those same people often can't advise those in my situation. Genetics is king.

I also like how the main character, Siri asserts to his gf that everything romantic has to do with strategy and competition. Mr. Watts, being a biologist, clearly knows how reproductive strategy works.

Exactly right. A theory has to be falsifiable and have explanatory/predictive power (but not too much, or its head sticks out so far that Occam's razor slices it off). Patriarchy Theory isn't falsifiable, and it explains too much...so much that it explains itself right out of existence.

I disagree. "The Man" is definitely a couch anarchist creation, and the Patriarchy is identical except for an additional gender element.

Yeah, and I'm not sure about the implicit homophobia...seems like if he WERE gay, he'd have avoided a lot of the bullshit that we're subject to.

This really hit home for me. Especially this line: a nebulous corporation, or an exploitative boss, or a fucked-in-the-head woman who was happy to use you as her meal ticket. Yep, all three.

I'm very sorry that you got the short end of the double standard. I'm 5' 6" and lost my cheating whore of a gf to a 6' 2" guy. AWALT...you'll only succeed if you find women who have been conditioned to think short guys are cute.

I'm the same way. I found out that the nice domestic dream I was fed when I was younger is false. I hate AWALT, but I know it's true now. I can't refuse to believe reality just because I don't like it.

Well, that and the helicopter parenting of the 80s and 90s made the issue that much worse.

I had a female friend who one week was talking about her future/possibly marriage with her current LTR. The next week she was talking about how annoying he was. The week after that she's swooning over her new boyfriend. Shocking. This was my ex too. I find her viscerally disgusting now.

Listen to this guy. I made this mistake and paid for it.

Thanks to your post, I bought that famous Carnegie book. It's simple, but effective. Like taking a no shit, sherlock to the face.

Not until they're 30+ and looking for a provider, at least.

Wheel of Time is another good one. The world starts out as a matriarchy, but the main character, a reincarnated hero from the past, is alpha as fuck, and ends up taking charge.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
