Is rape so widespread, in the western countries at least, to justify that immense fear? I'm genuinely asking. I seem to remember that it is statistically on par with other violent crimes.

The person that wrote the article knows absolutely nothing about genetics, and about immunology. The correct answer is in the 3rd line: in China, men smoke more, thus rendering themselves more vulnerable to infections of the respiratory tract.

A lot of (unemployed) people think that "a career" is the best thing in the world. What they fail to understand is that, while earning money is obviously good, a very large number of people either despise their job, or simply have grown tired of it after years.

You either didn't read the definition of hypocrisy, or didn't understand it. I have nothing to add from my previous post. And I am not circumcised, btw. Fortunately, in my country there isn't the habit to perform useless surgery on infants.
/r/FeminismStopsWhen17/02/20 12:20 PM
11

Merriam-Webster dictionary 's definition of hypocrisy: "a feigning to be what one is not or to believe what one does not : behavior that contradicts what one claims to believe or feel". Since the entire argument pro-abortion (with which I agree, btw) is entirely based on bodily autonomy, the hypocrisy lies in proposing a (fake) law that directly opposes that principle. The next time you want to asuume that someone is in bad faith, I suggest you take the time to understand what is being discussed…

Optimism is a good thing, I wish I could be more of an optimist myself. Just remember that a movement is defined by the actions of its loudest part, more than by its theoretical tenants. Unfortunately, nowadays people like the person of the screenshot here, are the loudest.
/r/FeminismStopsWhen17/02/20 06:49 AM
3

My second option was clearly a way to point out the fallacy. I agree that feminism's theoretical principles are about equality. But that's just theory. In practice, very prominent people and organizations inside the movement have, over the years, promoted very sexist positions. You can find various examples in Karen Straughn's reply. So, do you think that is safer to trust theory, or empirical evidence? If you really are about equality, and I have no reason to doubt it, you should consider defin…

Yes, it's your point of view. Unfortunately, your point of view is a clear example of the No True Scotsman fallacy, as Karen Straughn so eloquently explained in the reply I quoted. Pointing it out is not "vitriol", nor it is against a civil exchange.

The following is a very informed and highly reusable comment by Karen Straughan in response to a feminist who thinks the many blatant sexists among feminists aren't real feminists: So what you're saying is that you, a commenter using a username on an internet forum are the true feminist, and the feminists actually responsible for changing the laws, writing the academic theory, teaching the courses, influencing the public policies, and the massive, well-funded feminist organizations with thousand…

One thing is talking about factors that lead to poverty, which I never denied. Another thing is talking about what you should (or shouldn't) do to try and get away from it. That is the point of the article, that talks about factors that will help someone better their economic status. And it's also the point of my comment.
/r/PussyPassDenied16/02/20 08:31 PM

Ugliness, race, height, etc are all factors that you cannot control. You can instead control your mentality. Or your choices, as article n. 5 that you linked clearly demonstrates.

You are still convinced that I said "if you're poor, it's only your fault". I never said that. I'm perfectly aware that many people are born in poverty. What I did say is that concentrating on the causes of your poverty that you cannot change, will reduce your chances to improve your situation, in my opinion. The article n. 5 that you linked also reinforces my point: getting a degree, finding/keeping a job, learning how to save money, are all factors that contribute to getting out of poverty.

"Even men and women in the same profession get paid differently. According to Salary.com, a janitor can make up to $41,000 per year whereas a maid can make up to $35,000 per year." Do they even know what "same profession" means? It's this kind of intellectual dishonesty that really angers me.

One of the definitions of Merrian Webster for racism is: racial prejudice, discrimination. Regarding your point, I think it really depends on where you live. I think that a white person living in a predominantly non-white country could very well experience racism.

Of course it's my opinion, because the effects of mentality on life is not quantifiable, so data is impossible to obtain. This is not global warming, where we can collect objective measures. My original post was not meant to be factual, because that is impossible.

My original entry: "Attributing your own poverty to external factors is the best way to remain in said poverty". It's intended meaning: you'll have a better chance to get away from poverty if you adopt a mindset that doesn't attribute said poverty only on external factors. Otherwise, you being poor will become a self fulfilling profecy. Do I have data on this? No, because it's my opinion on factors that are not quantifiable. Do you have a right to disagree? Of course, yes. Do I think that you co…

What I find frightening is that he seems uncapable of thinking about people in terms of individuals. He only refers to them as groups: men are bad, women are angry, etc. He even says that there's nothing wrong with him personally, but then goes back generalizing groups of people.
/r/MensRights11/02/20 04:32 AM

In the tweet posted, the woman says that a "white man" is wealthy because of his privilege. This means she thinks she's disadvantaged, not being a white man. Apart from the obvious racism and sexism, and the inaccuracy (plenty of poor white men in the world), my point is that this is a dangerous mindset for yourself. It could lead to believing that your condition of poverty is impossible to defeat.
/r/PussyPassDenied11/02/20 04:13 AM
2

Dude, the part you quoted literally has the word "only" in it. Are we arguing semantics here? Because I think that what I said is pretty much the same as my original post. Again, not a native English speaker, so maybe some nuance is lost on me.
/r/PussyPassDenied11/02/20 04:00 AM
3

Ok. You seem unable to carry a conversation without insulting others. You also conveniently failed to understand that I said you shouldn't blame your condition ONLY on external factors. Furthermore, you keep asking for data, but you haven't produced any either. Please link some of those books I should use to educate myself. Listen, we all know that some people are born in poverty, or a disadvantaged position. I could also say I was one of them. But having the "I'm poor because I'm disadvantaged"…
/r/PussyPassDenied10/02/20 09:07 PM
3

You are making exactly my point. If you want to upgrade from poverty, you must work and not simply attribute it to something you can't control. It's the mentality "I'm disadvantage, therefore I'll always be poor" that I don't agree with.
/r/PussyPassDenied10/02/20 08:58 PM
4

I don't have the data because I'm not saying what you think I'm saying. Did you even read my reply?
/r/PussyPassDenied10/02/20 07:58 PM
5

I like how you resort to insults, while completely missing the point of my post. Obviously external factors can contribute in someone's poverty, but attributing said poverty only to factors beyond your control will only result in failure to improve. Now, you'll excuse if this idiot is not eloquent enough, English is not my first language.

Arndt's own response about her "supporting a pedophile" is linked in the article. She clearly states that she condemns his actions. So MRAs are wrong even if evidence suggests otherwise. I cannot respect such people.

Correct. As I said, I'm a bit rusty on the subject. For women, it could also depend of higher sensitivity of those receptors (I believe they are dose-sensitive). Anyway, it looks clear that higher testosterone doses cause basically no mood swing in adult males.
/r/MensRights02/01/20 02:17 PM

/r/MensRights02/01/20 08:35 AM

The idea of equality of outcomes is so stupid on many levels. Equality of opportunities is what we, as in the human race, should strive for.
/r/MensRights02/01/20 07:38 AM

Testosterone production increases during puberty, and that is a period of "unrest", before the young man's body adjusts. That being said, I think that, while sudden exposure to higher levels of testosterone can create some effect (see boys during puberty or transitioning women), it's probably only one of the many factors that contribute to an aggressive behavior
/r/MensRights01/01/20 05:43 PM
3

Actually, a logarithmic progression would indicate a larger effect of the first doses, with weaker and weaker effects the more the dose increases. It could also be possible that biological males have less sensitivity of the androgen receptors (that bond with testosterone), due to being exposed to higher levels of it for most of their lives. Basically, men could be less affected by higher doses of testosterone than, for example, women transitioning. Forgive me if I m not clear, English is not my …

If we are talking about separate sport categories, I think that's a no brainer. Everyone (that is sane) understands that female athletes cannot compete with male ones. To tell the truth, I understand feeling like the kid is yours no matter what, if you raised him / her. If your son or daughter is proven not biologically yours after 6, 8, 10 years, you don't stop loving them, and they don't deserve suffering. That being said, what they DO deserve to know, is which parent is a lying piece of sh. And it's not the loving father.

It's a sad state of things right now in Italy. We had a right wing government that wanted to stop illegal immigration, and it was given a hard time both internally and by the EU. Now the left wingers opened the doors again, and my taxes pay everything for people that came here illegally.

Italian here. 42 is probably the size, we have our own sizes. 60 should be sleeve length in cm, but I'm not sure. L I think is for Lana, which is wool in Italian. 7 I really don't know.

My apologies, because English is not my first language, my understanding is that pay is intended as pay per hour, while earnings means the total. Also, obviously I intended same job as in all things being equal, which obviously is very difficult. That's a very dangerous frame of mind. Women are weaker? They are, in terms of physical strength. But should we also consider women weaker regarding the mind, and the decision making process? Do you see how that is dangerous? You are basically saying that half of the adult population is not, or less, capable of taking logical decisions. I'm absolutely opposed to that, for obvious reasons. Crimes should be judged equally regardless of the sex of the offender.

I think you misunderstood mgtow. I, for one, totally agree on equality (of opportunities, not of outcomes ; but that's another topic). Women are not evil, they are dangerous. Female nature, just like male nature, is the product of evolution, so it isn't good or bad, it's just efficient. The problem is society : laws nowadays (both legal laws and social laws) heavily favor women, so it makes sense for the red pilled man to consider cutting any contact, to preserve his own wellbeing. Every time I read "toxic masculinity", I immediately lose interest in the article. Let's see how many of those women go for the difficult and lucrative careers (stem, medicine, pharma), because getting a degree in political science just means that you took years to flush money down the toilet.

Of course it's not, after all, consent is a tool of the patriarchy. Everybody knows that women never desire sex, and every time it happens, it's because they were forced to do it by some troglodyte that has internalized rape culture. (/s, but sadly there's people that say this with a straight face)

I never resort to name-calling, that's usually the sign that you have lost an argument. The fact is, statistics say that men are more likely to be the victims of violent crimes. I suspect that's because they are, wrongfully, confident in their ability to fend off aggressors. So they put themselves in dangerous situations. The reality is different. The aggressor (be it a rapist, mugger, whatever) can easily take you by surprise, or attack with a weapon.

That's the narrative pushed by the people believing in "rape culture". But they're the same people that think that touching someone on the elbow is rape. Logically speaking, rape (actual rape) is an horrible crime, and usually such crimes are committed by a very, very small percentage of the population. So, while we should consider a 50/50 situation, there's also the possibility of a 20/80 split or so (20 being the true accusations), especially because the punishment for liars is often just a sl…

That's what I'm saying, we agree here. The parent should try to give the best education possible, but after that, when children become adults, they make their own decisions. Maybe JP is just naive. But the daughter is the one responsible of her train wreck.
/r/MGTOW20/10/19 08:41 AM
11

I believe that, even if you raise a child in a way that you think is "right", at some point they will make their own decisions. That's where traditionalists fail to see the big picture, imho. But that's also why I think the daughter is the only one responsible for herself.
/r/MGTOW20/10/19 07:40 AM
14

As I said, I'm well aware of awalt. Regarding JP, I know what he said about mgtow (he also said he was wrong); I don't need to agree 100% with a person to find some of his concepts valid. I just think that the daughter is the only one who should be discussed here.

The "making a decision" is exactly the point I'm making here. Are you so drunk that you cannot stand and speak? You obviously cannot consent. (And maybe you should work on your drinking problem). Are you drunk, but can "hook up" (intended as having active sex with someone)? Then you could, and you did, consent.
/r/MensRights18/10/19 07:44 AM
2

Correct me if I am wrong, because English is not my first language : isn't the term "hook up" used to describe an active action, meaning actively have a sexual encounter with someone?
/r/MensRights18/10/19 07:38 AM
1

The point is: if you are able to perform an action while drunk, you should be held responsible for it. You get drunk and commit a crime? You end up in prison all the same.

15

/r/MGTOW18/10/19 05:10 AM

I think that if you are able to commit an action (again, this is my interpretation of "hooking up"), you are to be considered responsible for the consequences. I frankly don't see where your sex comes into play.
/r/MensRights18/10/19 05:07 AM
28

There is obviously a point at which alcohol intoxication would make a human lose consciousness. At that point, obviously, both a male and a female cannot consent to sex. But the poster here says that they "hooked up", so my interpretation is that they were both conscious. And being drunk does not exempt them from the consequences of what they did while intoxicated.
/r/MensRights17/10/19 08:24 PM

Just ignore point 5 for a moment. It's clearly a punchline (even if a lot of women take it seriously). Let's consider points 1-4: they are correct. But the real question is: is your woman willing to do the same for you?
/r/MGTOW01/10/19 07:17 AM

While I agree that's part of the reason, you can find a lot of women studying medicine, which is equally as hard as engineering. They probably are simply less drawn to professions that deal with numbers, like engineering or IT, and more to those that deal with people (med, nursing, teaching). That's why I find silly saying "we need more women in stem". Why? Give everyone the same opportunities, and the cream will come to the top.
/r/MensRights01/10/19 06:07 AM
15

I would have selected families with economic problems instead, but whatever, her money her choice. I just think that equality of opportunities is good, equality of outcomes, if forced, is not. I also find hilarious that a lot of commenters say that women in stem are rare because they are held back by the "patriarchy" (or some variation of it). But the op managed anyway to become an engineer as a woman so maybe, just maybe, she put in the good work instead of playing the victim.

/r/MensRights26/09/19 03:53 PM

Please, do quote where I said that women suck. My beef is with journalists, that very often fail to call these events with their name: rape. And don't come to me with your holier than thou attitude, when you are the first to resort to the tired incel insult.

That's not the headline.
/r/PussyPassDenied26/09/19 05:13 AM

Wait a minute. She's making no point about Turner. She's accusing this sub of defending him, which is easily disproven by the comments in the very thread that was linked. The title here is "why are you defending Turner". We're not.
/r/MensRights26/09/19 05:11 AM
5

Here is the problem : the statement your are making is accusing this sub to defend a proven rapist (I know nothing about him as I'm not American). This is not true; even the linked thread was heavily criticized. You'll understand how people get upset if accused of something they didn't do.
/r/MensRights26/09/19 05:06 AM
19

But devils are so exciting...
/r/MGTOW25/09/19 08:20 PM
10

This looks like a pointless accusation to me. Discussing men's rights =/= condoning rape. If someone is proven a rapist, he or she should rot in jail imho. Keyword: proven.
/r/MensRights25/09/19 08:13 PM
7

So create a thread "why are you defending Amy Schumer"
/r/MensRights25/09/19 08:06 PM

Independent, but very adverse to working.
/r/MGTOW25/09/19 10:35 AM

Correct. This, and the already mentioned fact that men choose higher paying careers, create the difference in earnings. In short, women in general want to work easier jobs, and work less hours. Thus, the gap is justified.
/r/MGTOW25/09/19 09:05 AM
1

It's probably just a facade she puts on. Awalt is VERY close to reality. Edit : thread deleted, probably just wanted to troll for hate answers, and was disappointed that it didn't receive any.

You are correct, but that's an earnings gap.
/r/MGTOW25/09/19 05:57 AM

Imho, the name of the person accused should not be made public unless he or she is proven guilty. Also, disclosing the accused's identity and falsely accusing should have serious legal consequences.

Here's the thing: it is my understanding that various workplaces require all men to take anti-harassment courses in the USA (luckily, not in my country), and this is based on the premise that every man is a potential harasser. Well, every woman is a potential false accuser. Is it fair for the innocent men and women? Of course not.

/r/MGTOW07/09/19 10:47 PM

/r/MGTOW06/09/19 10:35 AM

Let's say I'm a good man. Let's say that I realize my power and inner strength. Let's say that I become the leader and king of the world. At that point, what do I need a woman for?

The majority of men behave perfectly fine in the presence of women, but even for those men, a 1:1 situation with a woman is a potential false accusation. Avoiding those situations is simply logical.

I think that the point is denying the existence of a pay gap caused by sexism, by showing an example of a very successful woman. She is paid very well because her value in the job market is very high.
/r/MensRights05/09/19 12:39 PM

The article is sad, but also hilarious. So, we need more female mechanical engineers, because women use any kind of machinery, and have different needs? What, there is a male and female combustion engine? This kind of nonsense is what breeds incompetent professionals.

/r/MensRights28/08/19 11:13 AM

I think you hit the nail on the head about the overdrinking problem. I think people should always be accountable for their actions when intoxicated, regardless of gender, of course. What if a person drinks too much, drives, and kills someone? Is that person not responsible of those actions?
/r/MensRights28/08/19 11:00 AM

/r/MensRights28/08/19 08:41 AM

The problem is that you can publicly accuse someone, without proof of the crime, and face no repercussions. If you go to the police with an accusation, without proof, and the name of the accused is not given to the public, then no harm. I still think you should get a fine for wasting police time, tho. But if you PUBLICLY accuse someone, you better be able to prove your accusations, because you are heavily damaging that person.
/r/MensRights28/08/19 07:33 AM

Fake accusations are problematic only because they are taken seriously even without any proof. Proof, or it didn't happen. Wait, you don't have it? Here some jail time for you. Do this, and watch false accusations vanish.

You must really like the verb obsess. Anyway, to answer your question : I don't know, and I don't care. Politics should be about ideas, not about the amount of melanin in the skin of people expressing those ideas. Having a more diverse group of people, in terms of ethnicity, does not necessarily mean that the party expresses better concepts.
/r/WhereAreAllTheGoodMen13/08/19 08:24 PM

I need feminism to be renamed egalitarianism, and stop being a mysandrist cult.
/r/MGTOW02/08/19 02:01 PM

This is just idiotic. What even is "rape culture"? There are rapists, which are horrible people, and then there is the rest of the population. I refuse to be associated with a crime that I didn't, and never will, commit, just because I happen to be be born male.
/r/MGTOW02/08/19 01:56 PM
