Loved the “this isn’t happening to you it’s just happening and you need to deal with it.” Just resonated so much.

I think it’s a little more nuanced. Agree when it comes to “friends,” whatever that is. But guys are really open to meeting new people around a shared community interest. Playing or watching sports. Church or temple groups. Things like that. Give it a try! I hope it helps.

Hated it. Parenting coordinator either (1) decides one parent is the primary and throws all decisions in their favor or (2) plays negotiator no matter how ridiculous the situation.

Lawyers won’t care. Judges won’t care right now. But you have to keep parenting now. Let me be frank with you. When you get in front of a judge for custody, she is a woman, she is “mom,” and she has an advantage. You need everything in your corner to combat that. Right now you have the things you do more. Great. You have to maintain your story that you are the “Mom.” Things aren’t equal, you do more. You have to be “Mom” to combat her “mom” advantage. This isn’t a time to be “fair.” Your kids ar…

Stick it out and make sure that at trial you continue to remind the court at every turn that she is a divorce attorney and planned this out from the beginning. I know the rules, but judges won’t like it and it may carry the day.

Hang in there brother. Take some solace in that you are not alone. Us single dads are in this together.

I know your are hurting. And, if you guys have any real property or kids this is gonna hurt more. But, you have to internalize your own self worth. You are valuable. You are worthy. And you don’t need her to acknowledge that. Unfortunately, once she leaves she is going to need to reinforce her decision by only seeing the bad. And her family and friends will reinforce it too. I have been there. Trying to turn the tide is like trying to swim up a waterfall — it’s never gonna happen. Stay positive.

This doesn’t end well. Get that agreement in writing and get a mediator to get one of you (or both) out of the house. You need to get away from her. The warning signs are there. The false police reports won’t be far off.

I want to join the rest of the commenters and say all is going to work out fine, but I want to give you tales from the other side. My X lied her ass off. But she cried on the stand and the judge immediately became a softie, handing her tissues to comfort her and automatically believing everything she said after that under the theory that since he got her to break down and cry she must have been genuine and truthful. It completely worked. He believed every allegation and I lost everything. You li…

Good luck. Same thing happened to me. Life isn’t fair and neither is family court. Bottom line is that the court expects men to hide or spend their money, so they are looking at you. The courts presume they need to protect women in divorce, so they aren’t looking at her. Don’t waste even more of your money on Attorney’s fees trying to pursue it.

I don’t know what state you are in, but : (1) you should be seriously considering asking for more than 50% custody because it will then look like you aren’t willing to negotiate and you may seriously be in a fog where you can’t see that these kids don’t belong with her (2) you should move immediately for temporary custody since she moved out of the home with the children. You are in the children’s home that they are used to and that is where they should be. (3) document everything with pictures …

I’m so sorry man. I’ve lived through this shit. Get a lawyer and go to court. I’m not gonna lie, life is unfair and it’s an uphill battle, but you have no chance if you don’t get someone to help you fight. You should also focus on getting neutral third parties on your side like a custody evaluator. PM and if you want to talk. This is the hardest most traumatic thing to ever go through. You are not alone.

My advice is to get an aggressive lawyer. My biggest mistake was to think that a nice guy lawyer would help calm things down and look good for me in court. You need someone aggressive who can nip this in the bud immediately. Don’t wait and document. File for a divorce first (it’s important to be the plaintiff no matter what any lawyer tells you) and make an immediate motion to set temporary parenting time. Just do it before it’s too late. PM me if you have questions

I'm reading your post and replies and I don't want to sugar coat it for you - - a restraining order hearing and a divorce hearing are not what you see on TV; you are not innocent until proven guilty and you aren't going to be given a fair chance at your defense or redemption. So don't waste any opportunity. If you have the chance to file something, file it with evidence. The judge is a human being and you can't wait until they have heard all the shit to try and prove your innocence. You have to …

The last part isn’t true. Unfortunately, someone can file “incident reports” with the police and get them on record without contacting you and without the police contacting you. I had to fill out a form to find them all out from the local police department. Be careful. Be very very careful. After your ex mounts up a few of these reports she can use them against you... You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
