I think I can explain, from a woman's perspective, why some women tend to think this. Obviously a very small percentage of men that I've actually met have ever attempted or succeeded at raping or sexually assaulting me. I think the word 'victimization' is too broad to be considered accurate. There are nuances here which bear further analysis. That men are more likely to be victims of homicide, women more likely to be victims of homicide by an intimate partner: both of these things can be true. I've only been present once or twice when something truly egregious was said, but there are a many more everyday generalizations made which can be varying degrees of harmful. A lack of research, too, particularly regarding male-on-male sexual violence. I think unwillingness to discuss this particular issue is pervasive in both conservative and liberal arenas. I think there needs to be a more holistic approach towards male perpetrators of violent crimes in general. It's absolutely much more complex than just socialization, or just biology. Thanks for the recommendations. A brief look at Hoff Somers suggests she identifies as an equity feminist, equality feminist, and liberal feminist. Do you have any particular thoughts on those philosophies, taking a more broad view? Personally, I feel the situation has gotten so hostile on both sides of the feminist and anti-feminist that I would support creating a Gender Equality philosophy. Unfortunately, I'm a high school drop out, no academic.

That's okay, I'm perfectly happy to continue talking here. I don't even know those names. As I said, I am a 'feminist' only in the most nominal of terms, not dedicated to any school of thought.
