Most people here, myself included, are not a big fan of the term 'ally' we feel that implies one can't truly be a part of an advocacy group (and only can be allies from outside) unless they from the demographic that they advocate for. If you want to support male advocacy you can call yourself it without needing to use the word ally. Any help and participation in good faith is appreciated, whatever is in your power or in your expertise.

I'd suggest that listening some here, reading up on previous posts, and commenting with your perspectives are all good things to do. Take what you can from the group, and apply it in other groups that you might be a part of, as you see fit.

just for instance, I regularly comment against sexist comments made by folks against women in groups that I am likely more accepted and comfortable doing so that a woman would be. Or in my case, having been a more irl kind of activist for a long time, it has meant advocating for women within spaces that are more generally and strongly masculinely oriented; giving them space within those spaces when they are there, and pushing back against folks being asshats. I don't necessarily parrot something that I heard a woman say once upon a time, but I do my best to push in favor of, oh, idk, egalitarian principles.

I'm sure you're able to do so in spaces where if a dude said something they would be dismissed out of hand. Bring the heat where its needed.

the posts and comments here, while not perfect, are at least reflective of dudes and chicks making good faithed efforts at pointing out problems, so its a good starting point.
