Eh, I don't think he was pushing the religious angle that hard. Given the timeframe he lived in, I'd argue that 'God made men to sing the praises of women' is just a different way of saying 'men are meant to sing the praises of women'. If your environment is composed entirely of Christians, referring to God doesn't have the connotations it seems to have here. Besides, the bible has its share of misogyny too. It's just a very oppressive book to all genders.

Take a look at positions of power, and across the board you will see men (especially white men) in the overwhelming majority of positions. The interesting thing about this argument is that I've never seen it followed by a woman claiming that she was up for an executive position but a man got the job instead.
