I just wanted to contribute something. As a soon-to-be STEM professional, I would like to cooperate and compete with women as well as men. Different people bring different ideas and perspectives and an environment with constant streams of new information is absolutely necessary for innovation and invention.

I'm not. Promoting gender diversity has social and economic incentives as well as ethical ones. Namely people are willing to support businesses that try to hire more women. This creates revenue. It also increases the value of the product because by buying this particular device your helping an equal opportunity employer and by extension a hard working woman. If two people of equal qualifications are interviewed and gender is the only difference. The employer will pick a woman every time.

I went to a school that had a STEM focus. There was a choice between IT, Engineering, and Pre-Medical training. I kid you not an overwhelming majority of ladies at my school went into the Medical academy not because they had an interest in it but because they didn't want to be in the other two and still wanted to go there. I've had a similar experience talking to an average woman. Perhaps you are conveying too much high value and that is intimidating. Imagine if a HB10 just walked over and started talking to you.
