Rightfully so. I hope you got a prenup and she makes as much or more money than you

You remarried? Oh God, I don't know if I ever could man.

I worry I'm going to fall for someone like an idiot and be on the hook for more child support. I want more kids but I can't trust anyone after this.

60/40 (I have 40) because of my job

Yeah I love my kids but I fucked up big time. I don't want the rest of my life ruined because I get legally bound to women that are statistically going to divorce me anyways.

Haha of course. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?

No, I don't think it is. My ex and I were together for 3 years and had kids in that time before getting married. The only reason we got married was because I joined the military and they don't recognize your spouse unless you're legally married.

Yeah me too haha. Never getting the government in my relationships ever again.

For me it was a coworker who is married and never divorced of course she doesn't get it. My mom actually thinks I shouldn't remarry or try to find something serious lol.

Lmao it sounds ridiculous doesn't it? I got hit with the "just go outside, you might meet the right one" as I was grieving the destruction of my family. Like yeah, I'm going to just meet a magical angel of a woman at a coffee shop or while I'm walking my dog and my life is going to have a fairytale ending all of a sudden.

Her blaming you saying how you walked out and if you would've stayed this wouldn't have happened is just her taking the accountability off herself. There's nothing you could've done by that point. Just accept that she's gone and be glad you don't have kids and that the divorce is finalized. Save yourself the humiliation from her and stop trying to fix something that doesn't exist anymore.

I think the context of where you meet someone matters a lot. I like this idea, not sure how it would work in practice. A woman that is willing to meet you for a healthy activity or at church is probably a lot different than bars, clubs, or "dating" apps.

Most don't understand, can't understand, or don't care to try and understand. They don't owe me anything though. Just the way the world works. Better to accept reality than to ignore it.

I wouldn't count on it. It's rare and when it happens ir's even rarer that the couples stay together I believe.

Good luck man. I've wasted several months and things have not gotten better. I'm considering filing too since she's not.

It still doesn't mean you should have to pay her, she's a grown adult. The laws are completely outdated on this stuff.

There's no reason for it. Women wanted equality so bad, they can get a damn job and support themselves.
/r/Divorce_Men19/06/26 09:35 PM

No it's not. It's an excuse for women to siphon money out of men. You actually think every penny of it goes to the child? Must be nice living in a fantasy world.

They get real mad when divorce isn't a massive payday for them. The entitlement is strong in our society.

No which is another reason I have zero interest in dating. I don't even think sex is worth all the energy of dealing with somebody right now.

This may sound selfish but I would feel so much relief if she just gave me full custody of the kids and then vanished out of our lives. I'm just sick and tired of being tied to this miserable, bitter person. If she wasn't the mother of my kids I would've never spoken a single word to her ever again after she left.

The only thing she's releasing is herself from any sort of accountability in her own head.

Marriage is supposed to be a life time contract, so why should we reward women for violating it?

This should not be a thing, the spouses did not sign on the dotted line. The government needs to look after its servicemembers much better than this. I'm also in and have nothing but contempt for this.

Because our culture sees women being promiscuous as "empowering."

Thankfully it won't be too bad and I have a stable career. I'll only be paying child support and it's a manageable amount.

Might not be a bad idea. I don't like the idea of getting a vasectomy but I also really don't want to accidentally have more kids, especially if I become an idiot again in the future and start trusting someone again.

The problem is that our society and government have incentivized breaking up a family and a marriage. Not only is there no shame nor financial repercussions for it, there's actually encouragement and monetary rewards. Without the checks and balances of the past, it's no wonder modern marriage is about as stable as a house of cards.

I'm grateful she waived the right to half of my TSP (military/federal 401k) and that we weren't together long enough for her to get half my pension. It's fucked that even happens to people like you. What's the point of freezing sperm if I shouldn't have anymore kids out of curiousity?

Same here man. I'm just here for my kids at this point. It's all so tiresome.

In my case we were young and dumb, had kids way too quickly. I genuinely thought we wanted the same things in life just for her to mentally abuse me over the years before up and leaving. Sometimes you really want to believe as much as possible in something because the truth is horrifying. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say. What you do with this information is the more important part. You can either go on in ignorance and rack up multiple divorces and baby mamas or choose yourself (and your kids if …

I would compare it more to touching a hot burner on a stove. Hurts like hell so it doesn't make logically sense to touch it again.

Keep the focus on your kids, don't go to jail over this pos it's not worth it.

Pretty much. What's even the point when you could invest so much just for it to end at any time and you get stuck with a massive bill for it? I already have kids so I don't have any pressure to start a family anymore and I'm not getting with single moms to raise another man's kids. At this point I just focus on my relationship with God, raising and loving my kids, my career, and my hobbies as well as taking care of myself.

That's how I feel too. I know I'm not really any better though, even if I didn't choose to have my marriage and family wrecked. I don't want to deal with a new woman's baggage on top my own while trying to be a parent and work on my own life.

It's pretty simple, you're a man with the kids and your ex is a woman. If it were the other way around they would be all over your ass.

My attraction goes away when I think about her behavior or whenever I have to interact with her.

In my 20s most women around my age don't have kids so they have very different priorities and aren't interested in a man with kids already. I'm also just not interested in women with children because I'm going to raise another man's kids or play stepdad. My options are slim to none most likely.

She said that she loved you but was not in love with you? I swear all these women follow the same playbook, it's embarrassing how they never have any real reasoning behind their actions.

I love who I thought she was or who she was at first in our relationship. I fucking hate who she is now. In my head they're two different people.

Yeah I'm military. I've got an appointment with chaps in a few days thankfully, I've had to go see him a few times during all this. Military legal doesn't get involved with civil matters. We did a separation agreement together and didn't have to pay for lawyers because we got through that without too much fighting. I'm only going to pay some child support and we have no shared assets. Still though I can't get over the betrayal and the way she takes zero responsibility for anything. She frames ab…
