So men taking time off to be with the newborns and their families is still treated as a negative by business. It's like you're almost being treated as badly as men treat women in business.

Men are at both the supply and demand side of sex work since most prostitutes are trafficked by men. By your logic, men should be punished from both sides. Feminists have long argued for legalized venues as you suggested which have long been opposed by conservative, mostly male anti feminists.

I think we can all agree here, regardless of stance on toxic masculinity, that young people are not to be blamed for what they are taught by supposedly responsible people. I could agree with that much. The author interestingly points out that, "Portraying toxic masculinity as a problem that can be solved through early intervention by parents, caregivers and teachers sublimates a series of institutional and political contests into the ‘private’ realm of choice and childrearing. Ironically, this t…

It's not exactly dismissing toxic masculinity as a "feminist narrative" "It is probably true that some men act out in harmful ways in part because they are isolated, alone, insecure and fearful. But these psychological states offer little help explaining system-level inequalities such as the gender wage gap, the undervaluation of feminised domestic and care labour, or access to reproductive health services." The author is saying that we shouldn't look exclusively at gender but race, class and so…

There's no evidence against him but he said she guessed. Not even he said she said. In his testimony, Cosby admitted to casual sex involving recreational use of the sedative-hypnotic methaqualone (Quaaludes) with a series of young women, and he acknowledged that his dispensing the prescription drug was illegal.

So what? Child support isn't just for poor people. If the custodial parent earns enough money to donate to charity that in no way means that non custodial parents aren't responsible for providing for their children. Just because I have enough money to provide for my child and donate to charity doesn't mean I should be covering the other parent's child support payments. Two people make a baby.

There's never been a civil rights movement where conservatives haven't argued that the group in question sought power to the detriment of straight white men. Similar arguments were used to justify slavery.

You're beef with feminism amounts to, they just don't do enough for men. When they're probably the last people you should be asking to do stuff for you.

Feminism is a supremacy movement with the goals of benefiting women to the detriment of men. Conservatives make this argument about every civil rights movement. There's not one group who's sought equality that hasn't been accused of benefitting themselves to the detriment of straight white men. Similar arguments were used to justify slavery.

It's an anti feminist message that women are not adequate candidates for selective service It's not actually an anti male message that men are disposable as this was largely decided by men for men in the first place. So gratz, you're all feminists now.

Did you know that women ordered to pay support are far less likely to pay it than men? And despite that women are far less likely to actually be punished for it. There'd certainly be less support as well if there was more shared custody (not to mention children do better when they have time with both parents). Unfortunately feminists fight hard against this and have successfully gotten quite a few equal custody bills veto'd despite public support. Nowhere in there is a compelling reason as to wh…

As to the "suffering" of children, that would be the mothers choice once the father has said he doesn't want to suffer as a wage slave to support her choice. Unless the mother chooses to kill the fetus or adopt, there's suffering either way. There's less suffering if you pay your child support instead of being a deadbeat
/r/MensRights04/06/21 09:34 PM

Oh well, feelings. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Others feel that children of unwanted pregnancy suffer enough. Only 44 percent of custodial parents actually receive their full child support. Though they don't quite suffer as much as the MRA "feels" is fair to them I suppose. Is it both male and female children that should suffer?

/r/MensRights25/05/21 01:39 AM

Plenty of children are being raised by single parents. Why aren't they entitled to someone else's income to help support them? They are entitled, that's why you have to pay child support. get it?
/r/MensRights25/05/21 01:34 AM
1

Stating the fact that the father's role is biologically unique only evidences my point that men and women are not similarly situated on this issue, therefore they're not actually entitled to the exact same treatment under the law. Apart from that there's the welfare of the child to consider (which no one here has).
/r/MensRights24/05/21 11:18 PM
1

The point she's trying to make (and is largely being ignored here) is that paying for illegal sex work supports sex trafficking and abuse of women (and by pimps and other dangerous criminals). While thousands of males are victimized as well women represent a clear majority of these victims.
/r/MensRights24/05/21 07:10 PM
1

That's not correct, most feminists support sex workers and would prefer legalized prostitution so it can be regulated and women can be kept safer from pimps or potentially violent customers and receive health care benefits. Slut shaming is anti feminist, not feminist.
/r/MensRights24/05/21 07:00 PM

likewise a woman is responsible for providing for her child even if she herself is a victim of rape or another violent act. Again your perceived double standard is bogus.
/r/MensRights24/05/21 04:19 AM

It's not your inalienable right to leave fatherless children behind for women to look after for you. sorry. It also shouldn't be your privilege to ignore laws you don't like.
/r/MensRights23/05/21 08:17 PM
-19

Men and women are not similarly situated on this issue (men don't get pregnant) therefore your ill conceived double standard is bogus on it's face. If you're going to make this argument, you can't completely ignore the unique state of pregnancy which can only be experienced by the pregnant individual. It's also worth mentioning that only 44 percent of custodial parents actually receive their full child support.

Certainly many men have many admirable traits. Masculinity means the characteristics we attribute to them. First we'd have to figure out what characteristics are exclusively make or female. Hence why "Toxic Masculinity" doesn't mean "all men are Toxic", that's why it's an adjective. Many men are unfairly and sometimes abusively conditioned to inherit psychologically harmful tr…

I agree, certainly not everyone who bottles their emotions become a domestic terrorist or a violent abuser. Toxic masculinity is produced by a set of patriarchal norms that perpetuate the notion that being a “man” means to be dominant, aggressive, violent, and very often misogynist, homophobic, and an array of other -isms. It’s a combination of “locker room talk,” “boys will be boys,” and all of the other phrases we bandy about to excuse behaviors that are unacceptable and harmful — not just to …

To suggest that "self reliance" is what feminists mean when they speak of toxic masculinity is dishonest. Ok you've made a claim, now evidence it. How is this not natural even if unique to the human species? Humans have three distinct types of tears: basal tears, reflex tears and emotional tears. The "crying" tears even contain a natural painkiller, called leucine enkephalin When your body makes emotional tears, your limbic system (the part of your brain associated with emotional arousal) signals your Pons (the brain’s “message station”), which then relays a signal to your lacrimal system to produce…

Yes, the rate of single motherhood is a problem and for the most part it is the woman's fault. Poor choice in 'men' and lower, loose standards and opinion of self and not being chaste. So not being chaste is an exclusive male privilege? A U.S. Census report estimates that just 43.5 percent of custodial parents get the full amount of support they're entitled to. And more than 30 percent don't receive anything at all. Blaming women for men not fathering or parenting their children is ludicrous.

Males do not need nurturing in male-specific ways because men have it all in our society anyway I don't think either side makes the claim that Males do not need nurturing. The author bases his opinion on his idea of masculinity which includes compassion, love, service to the disadvantaged, but that isn't really what we mean when we tell our sons to "Man up". This group isn't about service to the disadvantaged at all, the message is more like "no one is really disadvantaged except for us"

"Mens rights doesn't exclude any other identifiers outright. " Ok then maybe we should call it "Some Men's rights" or "Rights for Men I like" Why would a Men's rights group ignore issues like hate crimes committed against Men for any reason?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
