Thank you for your input! Your words spoke to me in a powerful way. My divorce will be finalized Thursday after 30 years of marriage. I have so many emotions. I feel as lost as last years Easter egg

I so appreciate you posting this. It sounds all too familiar. As I wipe the tears from eyes I think to myself why was I so eager to please her and allow her to continue social media unchecked. I created a monster and it has finally caught up. When I thought I was helping our relationship I was only adding gasoline to a fire that I didn’t know existed. Thank you again

Gonna tell you this from experience that this is a huge red flag! Usually before it gets to this stage the woman is unsatisfied for whatever reason and then along comes someone who just listens to her and tells her what she wants to hear. This is where it’s usually ends up. I would predict that it will continue and progress. I only say these things because they are true and I’ve experienced them myself. It breaks my heart just reading your post because it stirs up so much emotion. To answer your…

Oh and then there’s that. We haven’t told our children yet either. They are 26 and 21 years old

Brother! I’m so glad you decided to let that pain and struggle out. I, too, recently dealt with a very similar situation, and I’ve felt relieved since posting and receiving encouraging words from others. I’ve been married for 30 years and both of our children are out of the house. I filed for divorce two months ago, and we have mediation next week. I’ve still been living at home, but in separate bedrooms—of course that’s nothing new. As you described, just being “roommates” felt very real to me.…

You are most definitely not going crazy!!!! The situation you’ve described sounds all too familiar to me. As I read your post it’s as if I was reading my own writing. I’m currently going through a divorce myself. We have been married for almost 30 years.

So you’re saying the cycle would probably continue if we stayed together?

Thank you so much for your response! You’re right, we must decide if we are willing to put in the work. I just feel like she’s moved on emotionally and I’m not sure I can get her back. As far as my feelings I’m just kind of numb and have accepted the divorce but haven’t ruled out something working out in the future. I have also entertained the open marriage idea but just don’t see that working out in our favor

Man, when I read your post, it felt like I could’ve written it myself. I relate to everything you said. The part that really hit me was when you mentioned, “She said she wasn’t going to go meet other people because she wanted to grow and be independent, not worry about another man.” My wife said the exact same thing — and it turned out to be a complete lie. It’s tough to accept the reality of it all, especially when this was supposed to be “’til death do us part.” I’m in the middle of my separat…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
