I feel that were not using the same language here. Alcohol use can create a dependence for the substance, as well as opiates. Cannabis (also a substance), gambling, and porn, do not create a dependence. Alcohol, opiates, and cannabis can all lead to substance use disorders and is defined by the DSM-52 as a chronic, treatable illness. Gambling is also a use disorder.
