looking for supportIt really depends on how much you are going through, but I understand. I was very busy too but I hit a bottom I couldn't ignore... There are plenty of options for telehealth appointments if that would make it more convenient. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/10/22 05:40 PM
looking for supportHi friend. I would highly suggest seeking a therapist. I did so myself. While it's not an instant fix, it's certainly helping me a lot. I'm not sure of your situation, but whatever the case, you are struggling and need someone to speak with. It can be difficult saying and accepting you need help. It was for me. I wish you the best. Stay strong. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/10/22 05:26 PM
If you were the one who was left, and the one who is heartbroken, how long did it take you to get over your ex?Sorry to hear these struggles. That is a very difficult situation. I'm scared that my own separation is hopeless so I understand why some professionals say that. There was no physical abuse in my relationship either, but I believe there was some emotionally abusive behavior on my part. It's very hard for me to say this... At the time I didn't realize this, in part because of the very positive feedback I regularly received from her. It wasn't until the end that she told me how bad it was for her.… | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/09/22 12:57 PM
If you were the one who was left, and the one who is heartbroken, how long did it take you to get over your ex?Have you started individual counseling yet? Separating for a year is something she is suggesting but you don't know how long it would turn out to be. A year is a really long time. Are you two still living together or communicating with each other? Or has it completely broken down? | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/09/22 10:23 AM
If you were the one who was left, and the one who is heartbroken, how long did it take you to get over your ex?Hi. Well, it seemed there was never a chance of reconciliation to begin with. I initiated the conversation about divorce at the end of June. Within weeks we were separating assets and looking at apartments for me. By the time I had serious doubts and wanted to go to marriage counseling, she said it was off the table. That "this was the best thing for us." This was in the middle of August. Now, it's been one month since we spoke. She retained an attorney, I think primarily to get me to sign a sep… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/09/22 10:09 AM
If you were the one who was left, and the one who is heartbroken, how long did it take you to get over your ex?No, there was no cheating. The ideal reconciliation would involve therapy and marriage counseling. We could use a 3rd party to communicate our issues without it becoming argumentative. I would get a chance to show I am willing and able to alter my behaviors... | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/22 02:03 PM
If you were the one who was left, and the one who is heartbroken, how long did it take you to get over your ex?Hello friend. I am really sorry you are going through this. I initiated a divorce a few months ago, changed my mind 5 weeks later, and lost my chance at reconciliation. I am only a month into finding out she will be divorcing me now. I am curious too how long it will take to come to terms with what I have done and the loss I have created through my own actions. There was no cheating in our relationship, but I was mean spirited and emotionally abusive at times throughout our marriage. I did not k… | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/09/22 10:14 PM
New here, strugglingThank you for your response. I'm just not there yet and it feels like I'll never get there. It's only been a month since I found out how truly unhappy I made her... so I am still full of guilt. I don't know how I will stop thinking about the pain I caused her... But yes yes, one day at a time. Thanks | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/09/22 06:25 PM
New here, strugglingThank you for your response. Trust is certainly lost in buckets! Yes, part of me feels like it's over, but I can't accept it right now. I can't apologize right now because her attorney requested I do not contact her at all. I believe she blocked my number too. So I feel a have a lot to say that will not be able to be said. And each day that goes by, there is less hope. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/09/22 02:40 PM
New here, strugglingI can relate to some of this. Thank you. But isn't it ok. sometimes to feel and act weak?. In the end, it doesn't make me a weak man. I do want to tell her sorry, but I have yet to forgive myself. Your right. Lose the championship no one cares about the score. It's a terrible feeling. I was an a--hole, plenty. But I guess not a true one, because I am hurt and filled with self pity. Thank you for your thoughts | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/09/22 12:11 AM
New here, strugglingThank you! I'll look into that. Honestly I might qualify as a codependent due to some aspects of our marriage. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/09/22 12:05 AM
New here, strugglingVery sorry to hear this, friend. I said similar things when we were having arguments. I would throw back positive things she said to me in the past and question her honesty. These behaviors must be common when a whole paradigm feels threatened and breaking apart. I find I say ridiculous things when I feel hopeless. I can also relate to one step forward, two steps back. I have a few good hours and then many many bad hours. Unfortunately right now it's not even day by day, its hour by hour, minute… | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/09/22 07:31 PM
New here, strugglingThank you for your thoughtful response. Yes, my eyes have been opened, involuntarily, to my own behavior. It is quite disorienting, but I agree that this could truly be a Gift. I suppose it's what I make of it and whether or not I take this opportunity to learn about myself and work on what needs work. I started therapy for the first time in my life and it is helping. 5 sessions so far. Yes, I think it's important while everything is still fresh. Especially if I feel in the midst of a crisis... … | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/09/22 06:06 PM
New here, strugglingThank you. Yes, the guilt and remorse are eating me up. Taking responsibility is beginning to happen, but accepting that it cost me my marriage is so so difficult. I'm just not there yet. Thanks for reminding me life is indeed long. I have been walking everyday and praying and therapy once a week. It helps, but not an instant fix. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/09/22 04:06 PM
New here, strugglingThank you for your reply. I am struggling with how much was my blame, but I feel 80/20 is a fair estimate so I can relate to that. Yes, I can't go back in time. Its such a terrible terrible feeling, knowing and remembering everything I did. And feeling her pain. How long have you been in your situation? | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/09/22 03:33 PM
