Yeah, it seems useful at certain times. Within the last month I made a FB account to find a roommate where I was moving to. Definitely 10x better than trying to find a roommate off of Craigslist. I'll make an Instagram because I'm sure people look you up there to see if you're legit.

How important is social media in the young 20s crowd? I've never used Instagram, FB, Snapchat, etc because big tech can go fuck itself and not collect my data. At the same time though it seems important for social proof. Is it too late to try building it up now? Can I get by without using it?

yeah, you have a score associated with you. Every time you match someone your score goes up (depending on the ELO of the other person). Every time you swipe right and they swipe left (I think?) your score will go down. Every time you swipe left and they swipe left, I don't think your score goes down.
