Online dating is tough, at least for me. I had three matches that stopped responding after I mentioned my son, even thought it was written in the bio... But who reads that... I even had one who said that I am the only one she had a good conversation with and she is glad we are talking, only to stop responding 3 messages after. I had 2 or 3 who matched, only to write "ohh... You are too short"... Yah, what I need to do is stop tieing happiness with the relationship. That is the hard part for me s…

Yah... Same thing. Everything I did was so that I can have a nice, stable family. And now, despite having so many "wins", they feel shallow. And the "dream" feels impossible to obtain.

I am 36 years old, divorced for almost 2 years now. I also have a child with shared custody. In my case, the divorce came abruptly and in the worst way (she cheated on me with no prior warnings). It took me 6 months (with therapy) to be "ok". I found someone else which I truly loved (and so did she), but had to end it three months ago. So, to answer your questiona. Will you find love again? Probably yes. You are very young and have a lot of time. But it won't be in a month or two. It will take s…

I am not saying that I believe in a fairytale. I know that relationships are to an extend transactional. Both ways! What I am saying is that escorts are an extremely temporary fix to just one small problem. The bigger problem is feeling wanted, feeling loved, feeling that someone needs you. And yes, the holydays are even more emotional (for me as well). But I don't think an Escort will solve any of my problems... Maybe even make them worse.

That may be true. Right gardless, you must use protection. That is non-negotiable. But that still does not solve the main problem. Getting sex if you pay is easy. But getting a stable relationship is the problem. I don't want sex and an empty bed one hour later. Yah, you get an escord, and after that the bed is still cold. The apartment is still empty.

True, but the chances grow a lot when doing it with someone who does that for a living.

It is more complicated for me. First of all, I want a relationship, not just sex. I want someone to cuddle on the sofa while we watch a movie. Someone to go on hiking trips with. Someone to sleep next to in bed during the night. Someone to talk too when I am on business trips and alone in the hotel. The chances of finding someone seem slim though... Second, escorts can bring diseases. And the nasty kind.

It is going to get better. Not right away, but it will. You have to be strong until it does. It can take a few months, it may take more than a year, but you will get there stronger and better than before.

While I do hope to find someone with who I will have the connection needed for marriage, I know that it won't happen any time soon. So, at the moment, just a normal relationship would be good. I had one after my divorce, but had to end it.

I am not even casually dating. I work in a male-dominated field and work from home. On dating apps I have no luck and all my friends are married or in a relationship. I know it is a numbers game, but zero luck so far is a bit of a downer.

It was not me who left. By the time I found out about her affair, she had already made long-term plans with her affair partner. Do I regret it? No. I know that things could never have worked between us after that, even if she would have stayed.

I loved her and I hoped until the very last second that we could find a way to manage things, that she would heal or at least learn to keep it under control. But when I saw that not only that did not happen, but there were even a few steps back on the progress we made, I knew I had to end it.

I am also 36. I am also an introvert. I got divorced almost 2 years ago. And I can't tell you how your life will be. There are too many factors. What I can tell you is how my life is. After the divorce I was devastated (it came sudden, without any signs and it involved infidelity from her side). Also, I work in a male-dominated field and work from home... So meeting new people is hard. I've been going to the gym even before the divorce, and I do it to this day on a regular basis. I started to go…

It is not just about that person. The cancelation of the date is a symptom. I wrote something similar in another comment, but it is that I feel like I can't win. I have a good paying and stable job. I own a central, modern apartment in one of the biggest cities in my country, I have some investments, I am smart, I read, I have hobbies, I go to the gym, I go hiking, I am a good driver, I share memes, I knows movies, I read (and even started to work on my own book), I am romantic, I love children …

This is how I feel as well. And I don't think I am ugly, at least that is what the people I know say. Indded, I am not the type of person you instantly find attractive, but I have other qualities: good paying job, moderate investments, own a central apartment in one of the biggest cities in my country, smart, passionate, reader. I am even working on writing my own book. I go to the gym regularly. I go hiking. I am romantic. I love children and everyone sais I am an awesome dad. But none of those…

I don't agree with paying for sex and that is not something I would do. But I agree, tinder and the likes is depressing AF, at least in my case. I know some men that have success with it, but it is not me it seems. There is some "filter" that I fail to pass so I get extremely few likes/matches.

Even if it did not fail because of me, it still failed. And I did invest time and effort into it and hoped until the end it will succeed. Related to reject and getting rejected, this seems to be the only outcome so far, even if the rejection is the chat fading to silence.

I am happy from that perspective. I have friends, career, more than decent money, family and obviously, my child. I just had a down episode because I had a date planned with someone with who I thought there was a connection, but she canceled in the last day. And still not used to this online dating thing.

Yah, i agree with you on the "paying for sex" thing. It is not something I would do. Activity groups are few and far between where I live. I did go hiking and gym groups, but nothing flourished there (and there were mostly men as well). Also, hinge is not in my country (I am from Europe) and match has little traction as well.

Yes, it can happen. For the first two or three months after finding out about my wife's affair and divorce, could not get an errection at all. Not that I needed too, since I wasn't interested in this (not even porn). Eventually it came back. Now, I am back to normal. Still, being with a younger girlfriend (who has a higher sex-drive than me) I do take a pill sometimes, just to be on the safe side. This helps on a psihologica level as well. Also, using it I can do it 2-3 times per night while wit…

This is the reason I was reluctant to write. However, decided to do so because I know how so many from this forum are feeling, how hopeless and out of control. How nothing makes sense and you feel lost, unloved and don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have been through all of these feelings. No only that. If you read the post you will see that there are many things. My relationship with my child, my friends and my family who were of great support, new activities that I am doing. Yes, the other person is also a big part of all this "getting better", but not the only one.

I know how you feel. My ex and I stayed in the same house for a months after discovering the affair. I had to endure many in that month. But things get better. Hang in there, keep your head up, focus on what is important and truly matters and you will be amazed on how far you go in just a few months. I know it is hard to believe it, I did not when others said this to me, but it gets a lot better.

My ex did the same thing. She was saying that she loves me, that I am a great husband, a great father and so on just a couple of weeks before I discovered the affair. Once I did, she requested the divorce immediately, like in less than 5 minutes after I confronted her, and did not want to try anything to save our marriage and family. Not to mention the things she said to me, up to the point as to saying that it is my fault she cheated.

My attraction did not go to zero right away. But it started to degrade more and more each day. As I discovered more things, saw how she treated everything and how she focused on the wrong things to the point where she almost neglected our child for a few months (she snapped out of it and everything is OK from this point of view right now), my attraction reached zero. At one point I could not even recognize the woman she has become. So yes, I do agree. The way things ended for me, the things she …

Good for you man, you should be a Buddhist monk or something to that extent where you were able to just move on with your life and not care about the past in record time! I had help. I had great support here on Reddit and another online community, I went to therapy right away (started the 2nd week after I discovered the affair), I had my family by my side and GREAT friends that were supportive, understanding and so much more. That might be wishful thinking on your part. What if they never face any consequences would you be ok with that? Maybe it is wishful thinking. Either way, I am ok with it. If they are happy, so be it. My happiness is not determined by their happiness or unhappiness. And I am quite happy at the moment. A lot better than I expected to be. Recently divorced here and it was an ugly one. You can read my story here on reddit if interested. Here is how things went for me. After the initial shock has passed I installed tinder. Rather quickly I got a date, but I soon discovered that I was in no mental shape for that yet. So, I took a breather and focused on healing first. She cheated, started a new relationship with her boss before I even knew about the affair (which was less than 2 weeks after it happened) and did not want to try anything to try and fix our marriage. My story is here on reddit, feel free to read it. Was it preventable? Don't know... Maybe if she expressed things 6 months or more before the affair, but once the AP became of interest, nothing else mattered. Still, she acted like we have a good marriage.

At least you are getting dates. I barely get any matches and so far no dates at all. I usually get ghosted a couple of days into conversation and without any indication why. The longest I talked too was almost two weeks, things seemed decent and we had quite a few things in common. Then one evening, while talking she mentioned she is having a smoke. I casually say "leave the smoke and let's just talk. It's not good for you anyway". Next thing she god mad and said to end it there. Yes, dating is …

So far, none of the above. I remained in the apartment we bought together and kept all the furniture. She did took all the books (which left the entire library empty and it does look a bit awkward), but everything else is pretty much the same. I also did not renovate anything yet. Also, did not bring any other woman since so far I could not get a date. But with time, things will change. Both on how the apartment looks and hopefully also my situation with women.

Same thing happened to me. I have been married for almost 10 years as well and together for another 5. We seemed to have a happy marriage, we were both earning above average, had no health issues, no real problems. She cheated with her boss and once I confronted her, she immediately requested a divorce, already had plans with the other man and was the first time everyone heard that she isn't happy. Cheating is sick, awful and to be honest, traumatic. But what she did was more than just cheat. I would have been willing to try and make it work if it was only cheating. But she started a completely new relationship before I found out about the affair, made long-term plans with the AP, gaslight me, blame-shifted (she actually said that it is my fault that she cheated) and more. I know what you are saying. My ex wife left our marriage of almost 10 years in the most horrible way. And I agree that our life had reached a plateu, we had no problems, we're good from a financial point of view, no health issues and no real problems. It's not even that "nothing is good enough". I feel that so many women think that they are so entitled that they don't need to do anything and everything should be provided to them. The current culture and modern feminism combined to the way so many Man behave and act fuels this. Also, women get a lot more likes on such apps so they feel like "someone better is just one swipe away". I had women that were matches, but never responded back. It will happen sooner or later, I know this and I know that I can't stop this from happening. But the child is young and I feel that he did not have enough time to properly process what is happening. I think that the AP should be introduced later and gradually, not so soon and abrupt. From an objective standpoint, do …

Wooow. Your story is very similar to mine! 😯 10 years married (15 years in total together). Everything seemed fine and that we were happy. Making plans the week before she cheated. Gave her everything (including having a cleaning lady one a week that also did the ironing), supported her in her career, took care of her when she was sick and after her operation. Paid all the bills myself. She cheated, requested divorced once I found out, took half of everything (including half of the dishes, cutle…

I know exactly how you feel. Sadly, can't give any advice except "try not to put too much attention in the things she said". I know it is hard. It is for me as well. I am pretty much in your shoes as well (sorry for high jacking a bit your thread, just wanted to let you know that you are not alone). I divorced recently after a 10 year marriage (15 years in total) after my wife cheated and started a new relationship with her boss even before I found out about the affair (feel free to read my stor…

Most probably it was not you or something that you did. It was her, something in her that only surfaced then. Anyway, it does not matter.

You miss the way she was, not the way she is now. 100% that if you met her now, not knowing her at all up until now, you would not feel any connection with her. The woman you knew is gone. You are only missing the memory you have of her. Keep your head up, focus on yourself, on your hobbies, do some sport and in no time you will feel a lot better!

You need to accept that she is gone. I am 3 months in, but I accepted that she is gone for a month now. It does not make things easier, but you can't leave in the past. I'd don't know your story (will search to see if you posted it here), but you need to start moving on. I don't agree 100% with what I am about to say, but it is a valid solution for some people, maybe for you as well: the easiest way to get over somebody is to get under another.

It is nice to see some success stories as well. Being newly divorced, it gives me a bit of hope. Congrats!

I know the feeling. The first month after my ex cheated and asked for a divorce I would wake up every 1-2 hours during the night because of all sort of dreams and thoughts. Some related to what has been, some related to what she did, some related to what could have been as if my mind was still searching for solutions. The "dreams" became less and less frequent with time. It will get easier for you as well, but it takes time. Sadly, this can't be sped up and you will just have to march through th…

Here are a few: - gray rock her - only communicate with her about and related to the child - work on yourself, focus on hobbies, go to the gym, go out with friends - create new memories only you and the child - it will get worse before it get better - it will be a lot better soon, you just need to be strong and hang on

Your post touched a nerve in me. I am recently divorced (you can read my story here on reddit if you want) and soooo many things that you mentioned happened to me. It is still recent for me, but so far there was no accountability on her end, she even said that it was partially my fault for the divorce even though she was the one that cheated and started a new relationship with the AP even before I found out, that abandoned her morals and even partially our child, that planned things with the AP …
