Pretty sure that the actual body count weighs far far more than the attempt count when it comes to assessing the relative pressures, struggles, and challenges faced by different groups. As in "it's so bad I tried" is a better alternative to "it's so bad he died". Obviously both are bad situations, though it's painfully self evident which situation is worse.

Within our current system, for sure. A smack can cost you years in prison. Certainly not worth it, no matter how much they may deserve it. What I want, the law to compensate for verbal abuse and provocation when determining assault cases, isn't going to happen. Because that mythical $0.79 wage gap is based on the hugely misleading comparison of total money made by men and total money made by women. Men put in more overtime thus inflating the gap. While it's true that most people don't work 60 hours, the people that do are overwhelmingly men - this further intreases the gap. The functional limit might also help explain why men work so much overtime compared to women. More fuel in the tank. This definitely has relevance to wages.
