She looks like she belongs in a shitty anime. A really shitty one.

It was actually somewhat common (not overly common but it did happen) for slaves to become freedmen in ancient Rome. Freedmen could also do quite well for themselves as business owners. An example of this would be to look at the tomb of the baker (A quick google search should bring it up). Not to say that slavery wasn't harsh in Rome because it absolutely was. The slave trade was a huge business but, as a slave in ancient Rome, you could become free and be successful.

They were the same. The difference is they couldn't get away with the sort of behaviour you see today and they knew it. There were serious consequences. Being disowned, kicked out of the village or, say, marked as a social pariah, were punishments tantamount to a death sentence. The world was unforgiving and, in the modern world with all its convenience, people tend to forget this.

I'm talking about actual myth, not the netflix series. Edit: I will concede he is called Alexandros often in the Iliad but this is mostly due to the metre in which the epic is written.

Do you mean Ashita no Joe? Man that's some old stuff there. Did you know they recently did an homage to it in an entirely new anime? It's called Megalo Box and was quite well received. They specifically did it in a older style that was really refreshing. Cowboy Bebop is just great shit. The opening is iconic.

Ah, isekai. Guaranteed to be at least one a season. Akira was the gateway through which anime in the 90s got over to North America. It's fucking awesome and the animation holds up today. Hell, it looks better than some modern anime.

You have to either dig deep to find it or just rewatch stuff from the past. Love me some 90s anime. Edit: A good chunk of it is the fact that studios are catering to Japanese markets. They're realizing now that the North American market has potential to make them money but, in all honesty, they don't give too many fucks about what North American audiences want. Japan is the epicentre of all things otaku and it's a huge market. North American weebs and such aren't really to blame as far as this t…

Crystal's is different. In Gold and Silver she tells you to retrieve the dragon fang. Once you do, she shows up and gives you the badge and dragon breath. In Crystal, you're tested by the elder. If you answer correctly you pass and get a dratini with extremespeed upon leaving the cave and talking to the elder again. Passing the test triggers the scene between the elder and Clair.

Actually her name is Clair. Also, she is in all 2nd gen games. The instance you're referring to is in crystal though. It isn't Lance that rebukes her, but the elder of the clan. He threatens to tell Lance about her being a spoiled cunt.

Female elite 4 members like Agatha. You whoop her ass and she admits that she sees what Oak sees in you. The males are just as easy to beat if you raised your team with any measure of effort. The dragon type user from the Y and X elite 4 was chill. She was down to fight you because she can tell you're strong and it'll help her pokemon grow. That said, there are also gym leaders like Whitney who throw a tantrum when they lose.

Remember that the Odyssey and Iliad, as we know it now, weren't codified until many centuries after it was told. It was originally an oral tradition that spans centuries before the version we have. This is long before Greek culture as we know it. Helen is normal. I think you may have misunderstood me here. Penelope stayed faithful for two decades. It's myth. It's a warning in the ancient Greek world's perspective of what happens when women don't conform to the behaviour expected of them. Longer, if you want to be really technical. The Republic is supposedly founded in 509 BC and while the western half of the empire fell in 476 AD, the eastern half did not. Confronting her puts you on her radar and opens up a can of worms best left closed. Call the police when the child is wreaking havoc above you. Say you're hearing excessively loud noise and are worried about a domestic dispute. They find the kid alone and get in contact with CPS.

Ah the 90s. I actually watched it again the other week. My buddy watched the movie a few weeks ago on LSD lol. Must have been one hell of a ride.
/r/MGTOW09/07/18 06:48 PM
1

salutes Good on you man.
/r/MGTOW09/07/18 06:44 PM
1

Yep. I live near an airport and for years the road around there was fairly dangerous because bikes would have to basically be in traffic. So the city puts in this brand new two lane bike path so they can get off the road. They never fucking use it.
/r/MGTOW09/07/18 03:29 PM
4

Yield to the vehicle with the most tonnage. You're on a bike. You'll bounce off anything but a hatchback.
/r/MGTOW09/07/18 03:10 PM

Good lord..

And the battle for best girl continues to rage.

Fair enough. I don't dislike Rei, but when I saw her I instantly started looking for Asuka.
/r/MGTOW08/07/18 11:02 PM
3

I see Rei but no Asuka... Edit: Asuka not Asuna lol.
/r/MGTOW08/07/18 07:16 PM
1

Probably pretty fun.
/r/MGTOW07/07/18 10:49 PM
1

They did. Heartgold and Soulsilver for the ds. Those are the games with ice fang as that move didn't exist in 2nd gen.
/r/MGTOW07/07/18 10:22 PM
2

The other option is to over level to stupid proportions. The shitty thing with this route is that it's really time consuming because the best you're going to get is 60 or so exp from a Kakuna in Viridian forest lol. Edit: Nidoking is also good because it gives you a fully evolved pokemon early. Just make sure to pick up the moon stone in mt. Moon. He'll destroy the Vermillion gym being a ground type.
/r/MGTOW07/07/18 08:33 PM
3

We're talking about red, not fire red. Steel type anything didn't exist yet.
/r/MGTOW07/07/18 06:19 PM
3

Hard mode is winning with a Kakuna.
/r/MGTOW07/07/18 06:07 PM
1

That's only in the remakes. In gen 2 you used ice punch.
/r/MGTOW07/07/18 06:07 PM
3

Switching him out a fuck ton to get that early game gyarados is always worth it. Useful against Misty if you went the charmander route and didn't want a pikachu.
/r/MGTOW07/07/18 07:25 AM
15

Nah just train him up a bit. Charmander is weak to rock throw and can get merked if you don't level him.
/r/MGTOW07/07/18 07:22 AM
5

Gotta love gyarados.
/r/MGTOW07/07/18 06:21 AM
5

Charmander is a classic choice but the guaranteed crit from razor leaf is always tempting. I used to use charmander but I've used bulbasaur the last few times I played the games.

I don't understand the inclusion of a female option for main protagonist historically speaking. If a women came up and talked to you in an ancient Greek city, with the exception of maybe Sparta, their first reaction would be to ask where the hell your father/husband was. It was a bit different if you were poorer because those women had chores like fetching water that required them to be outside. Aristocratic women, however, were expected to stay in the women's quarters weaving at the loom.
/r/MGTOW28/06/18 06:55 PM

I read that in a Khajit voice at first lol.

Animals can be really accommodating. My dog had a friend that was a french bull dog and the whole time they played together he'd be on his back letting the little dude have at him. Very patient. Always was aware that he was huge. The sole exception was wrestling with me.
/r/MGTOW26/06/18 04:32 AM
2

I think we're on the same page man. I don't mind the tangents. I am partial to them myself when discussing something I'm passinate about. I love animals and they recirpocate it, so it's nice to see other people that feel the same. I only posted because I love my pets and wanted to share a little bit about my experience with them and their quirks. Like I said, I think we're on the same page. Personally I think having pets is good for kids because it teaches them to love something other than thems…
/r/MGTOW26/06/18 04:29 AM

Oh don't get me wrong, I love cats. That cat especially I had a tight bond with. I'm friends with all the cats in my neighbourhood and I catsit for my friend when he's out of town. My dog was actually a lab and bernard cross lol! Imagine a black saint bernard. Our cat was like 14 when we got the dog so he fucked with him but they were definitely buddies. Near the end our car went blind which was hard to watch.
/r/MGTOW26/06/18 03:33 AM
4

I've had and love both. I had a 140 lb saint bernard and lab cross but my cat wore the pants. Used to slap the dog's face and attack him all the time. When the cat died our dog refused to eat for two days. They really do grow attached to members of a family unit.
/r/MGTOW26/06/18 03:13 AM
3

Of course it is. I'd rather him have an idea about it though so he's sure he can care for it should those problems arise. Some things can be completely unexpected. In my case, both my dogs suffer from seizures. This requires certain medication and eating habits. I'd hate it if the dog had to be given up because he couldn't afford complications to its health. Edit: I say this because when I was ten my dog back then developed a skin condition. It required he eat certain food which my parents could…
/r/MGTOW26/06/18 03:00 AM

They're not even their own best friends.
/r/MGTOW26/06/18 01:05 AM
3

You may not want a bigger dog if you do get one then. They tend to only live 10 years tops. Lots of potential health problems too, especially with hips. You have to be very conscious of their diet and weight. That said, I love big dogs and they're my first choice.
/r/MGTOW26/06/18 01:00 AM

That made it easier for me when I was in university. I was still at home because the school is in my home town. Though I was working 32 hours a week on top of that and the school was almost an hour away. Lots of very late nights but it was still worth it to not be exposed to that shit at all times.
/r/MGTOW25/06/18 06:35 PM

You're absolutely right. I've known a few people that have killed themselves including my oldest friends' mother. She jumped in front of a van on the highway near where we lived. We had the misfortune of coming home from the beach in a direction that took us straight to where she died. My friend had spoken to her just hours before hand and he hadn't noticed anything a miss. She didn't make any threats, she just did it.

I was with my dad in Pisa, La Spezia, Florence, and Venice some years back. It was fantastic. We hung out together and gave each other space. While I read a book he wandered the city or vice versa. We also spent time seeing landmarks like the Santa Maria Del Fiore catherdral with each other. We spent time together and also did out own thing. It was the best vacation I've ever had. Drop truths but don't mention MGTOW. It can be a turn off to people still hopelessly dependent. Drop little truths, see how tbey react, and, if it seems as though they're receptive, go a bit further. Either they'll put two and two together or they won't.

It's true. Pyrhrus had to turn back because Rome could just keep fielding armies, however untrained. The same applies here with the endless legion of simps and white knights. Altair is a badass though and gets it all back plus some. That game had a sync bar not a health bar which stayed in sync if you did like he did. To get a perfect playthrough you can't get tagged. That means dude didn't take a single hit.

I wasn't making a case for them being matriarchal, I was just presenting a theory that Scythian women, due to the expectation of being to be able to fight (something a Greek would have considered strange), may have had an influence on Amazonian legend. I am aware they lived after Homer, as evidenced by Herodotus describing them in his account of the Persian war. I just thought it was interesting to mention in relation to Amazons being martial women. Edit: I realize now that the comment about liv…

There is an idea that they were based off Scythian women. Scythians were a nomadic tribe that roamed a broad swathe of territory from the Russian steppes to Anatolia (modern Turkey). They were similar to the mongols in that they were masterful riders of horses and were very warlike. Women were expected to be able to defend the tribe as well and so there is a theory that this had an influence on Amazonian legends. Scythians are even mentioned in Homer, although I can't remember exactly where or i…

What I meant was that it was Merry's sword that caused it. She stabbed someone that was already dying. In the movie they made it seem like she was the definitive cause. It's been well over a decade since I've read them so I could be mistaken.

Like Merry's sword. IIRC that was given to him by Tom Bombadil and was enchanted to kill the Witch King. Eowyn killing him in the movies was Peter Jackson plugging in a girl power moment.
