What state are you in? I have 50/50 and even with paying daycare, carrying their health insurance, and other expenses I was told due to the income gap (somehow her lack of employable skills are my problem) that I would owe her child support. My state has a calculator based on income and time, and there’s pretty much no getting out of paying if you are the higher earner.

My ex has no incentive to move because right now I am paying for everything. If I move and take a job that pays less and gives little to no benefits everybody loses including the kids, and they can’t maintain their health and welfare. The difference is when I can’t pay child support anymore I go to jail. Live where your children are” that’s like putting a bio chemist in Boston into rural Kentucky. It doesn’t work. I want to be able to provide for my kids. I am court obligated to carry their heal…

It has nothing to do with my new wife. It currently isn’t sustainable to live one week in Dallas and one week in rural indiana. I have been trying to convince my ex to move to where I can continue to meet my financial obligations that she saddled me with post divorce. I would willingly move to any city area she wanted. I would like to get on with my life as well. I am in a very secure job at a large company that is recession proof and I could easily negotiate a transfer to anywhere in a large en…

I could second this. I barely made minimum wage when we got married and I don’t have a college degree. My ex had a masters when we met and found the laziest teaching job she could find at poverty wages because she barely puts any effort in. She has not made a dollar more in 10 years. Meanwhile I built myself up to well over 6 figures and paid dearly for it in court even though we have 50 50 just because I was the higher earner. She was handed custodial without even a second thought and if she di…

We have kids man, and it’s hard. My new wife is smoking hot and we are in our mid 30s and she’s committed to dieting and staying active prior to me on her own which is the best case scenario. She’s also a huge help with my kids and way more active in their lives than their mother ever was. I do notice so many people just eventually let themselves go and you can’t force a sexual attraction. Just be very wary and the grass ain’t always greener on the other side. But if she’s not committed to fixin…

My new wife has offered to step back from her career to navigate this with me. I’m so grateful for her and she’s been my biggest support. We are trying to do what’s best for the kids and I never wanted to take them from their mother. She was an animal hoarder. She refused to rent, so bought the first trailer she could afford to have goats chickens etc

This was my exactly reality for such a long time. I was very unhappy, I worked so hard and eventually made a great living and stayed physically fit despite all the hours. I never had that conversation tho about her being sexually unattractive. She gained almost 100 pounds. We eventually became so distant with each other and didn’t have sex for over a year. I do sometimes feel I did her unfairly by not communicating my needs. If you do love her, explain this to her. We ended our marriage and fort…

When we got divorced, basically she was allowed to go wherever she wanted and I had no say at all. She was deemed custodial parent no questions asked. I’ll have to circle back with a lawyer, haven’t found one willing to even take my case.

Do you have advice on that? I tried to go to a lawyer in the county and they said any change to the custody arrangement is likely not going to be entertained at this point unless there is a valid reason. I haven’t been able to really catch my footing since she decided to move. We were in northwest indiana which is a large metro area of Chicago so commuting was possible. It would now be 2 hours one way for a commute for me

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
