I don’t hate you heart ❤️

Wow I’m so sorry you have to deal with this.

I think women can handle rejection poorly and I’ve seen it but too many men be stalking, shooting, creeping, throwing tantrums etc. to say categorically women handle rejection worse than men.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/26 07:42 PM

Yea I agree with you
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/26 05:14 PM

Same here

This is very true I just seem to get along with women well and have a good amount of female friends and it’s not always a plus it can cause wariness from a potential partner
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/26 04:46 PM

Yeah third paragraph is real. My female friends are slightly weirded out as to how I could be single 😆
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/26 04:45 PM

Yeah preselection works with clearly sexual/romantic relationships in my experience it doesn’t really apply to platonic ones
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/26 04:44 PM

This. It’s not their job to help me anyway 🤷‍♂️ And they have mostly admitted they don’t have a clue (doesn’t help that one got in a good marriage young and doesn’t know much about dating etc etc). Still love em
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/26 04:43 PM

I agree with a lot of this especially third paragraph. If you are a total dumpster fire getting friends can help.

Yeah same here. Fun friends though

I love this blog https://www.ggd.world/archive?sort=new
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/26 04:10 PM

My views are that this is a really difficult but important issues for progressives to talk about and that we cannot cede it to the right. https://www.ggd.world/p/why-is-fertility-collapsing-globally

Thanks it’s ok was years ago I’ve been abused my men too
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/26 07:13 PM

Sorry for the double reply but I take it you’re talking about red pilled/right wing men generally right? I reread your post and get it better now.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/26 06:08 PM
2

I get your point but there are plenty of people who think women should be a part of the conversation. Like me and I’m a man and have been abused by a woman. So again not a monolith.

Hmm I think a cultural narrative of men as protectors can be problematic but this post treats “men” as a single collective, blurring the distinction between men who commit violence and men who prevent it or never engage in violence. It ignores that many men protect women in contexts that have nothing to do with male violence (natural disasters, accidents, medical emergencies, fires, etc.) It can imply collective responsibility—that all men lose the ability to be considered protectors because som…

I honesty don’t understand this post or thread at all beyond “men are bad and even other men think so.” Is that what I should believe after reading this?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/26 05:37 PM

That’s like saying one of the values of human beings is to offer protection but only from other humans it’s a bit solipsistic
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/26 05:32 PM

I’m not sure what your last point is? Is that there should be no police and army? Or no government? Or no men?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/26 05:27 PM

This is my thinking too. Social standards are real I’m not gonna go around shouting “I’m horny!” Or “I have an erection please fuck!”

Yeah I agree 💯

Trauma and hurt isn’t a competition or a hierarchy
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/26 04:53 PM

I’m genuinely shocked to see you and other women present sex as transactional and a relationship as an entitlement. Isn’t that something blue pill/feminism frowns upon? The woman isn’t entitled to a relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/26 01:50 PM
2

I agree with a lot of this. Loneliness, trauma, mental illness, rejection, and economic insecurity are absolutely not unique to men, and no one should use suffering as an excuse to dismiss the experiences of other groups. I also agree that misogyny and entitlement are real problems, and that a romantic partner cannot be expected to be someone’s entire emotional support system. Where I see things differently is that acknowledging men’s struggles doesn’t necessarily mean saying men have it worse o…

I’m not arguing that the struggles trans women face aren’t real or severe. Discrimination, violence, economic barriers, and trauma are serious issues, and I don’t want to minimize them. One of my best friends is a mtf trans lesbian who struggles with dating, so I hear the other side. But I also don’t think suffering works like a hierarchy where one group’s pain invalidates another’s. Someone can have privilege in one area of life and still experience profound loneliness, trauma, mental health st…

I think this perspective is missing some nuance. There is a difference between refusing to adapt and acknowledging that some people are struggling in ways that are not solved by simply “trying harder” or changing a few behaviors. Many men who feel lonely or rejected have already spent years trying to improve themselves, socialize more, date differently, work on their appearance, or seek help. Adaptation is important, but it also matters how we talk about people who are struggling. Telling someon…

Listen I sympathize with you. It’s hell isn’t it? Going through all kinds of meds and therapy for little or no gain. You’re not alone. I have a similar story. 36 yo virgin. The world is often a rough and unforgiving place. And us men are expected to power through it. I remember my first suicide attempt. I was 19 went to hospital. When I was discharged a girl about my age was discharged too. All the staff (all female) hugged here and were like “oh, we love you, good luck, etc etc” With me it was …

I’m surprised more people haven’t brought this up. In an open sexual marketplace Machiavellian, narcissistic, psychopathic men are very often considered confident and attractive and chosen by women.

I’ve known a good amount of women and girls who want to kill themselves over heartbreak. It’s really sad.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/26 04:09 PM

I have several female friends and it hasn’t really made much difference in dating for me. That’s fine, as I enjoy the friendship and we add to each others’ lives. At my age (36) many women are more settled so it’s harder out there anyway as far as dating goes. My female friends’ friends are all already taken. Funny enough, their advice is also not always the best. Our experiences are just so different. I can give a concrete example. My best female friend and I were with a friend group at a gay b…

It’s great you’re trying different things! I’ve been doing that too and also having difficulty meeting single and available women. But with me age is an issue (36) as so many people are already settled down.

I don’t think this is true. Everybody can feel yearning that is strong
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/26 06:11 PM
3

Hmmm I have a deep yearning that can be difficult to explain. Some is I’m sure social, some hormones, some upbringing, some personality, etc. It can change but the yearning is almost always there. Sex drive is strong too and this is true of many men. Hard to disentangle everything. But there is often in men a high desire for external validation, to prove yourself, to perform a function. Different sexes have much in common but we do have differences too. https://stanmed.stanford.edu/how-mens-and-…

As a guys with a good social circle and nice amount of friends but who has had little to no success in romance, I think that friends are helpful in enhancing life but it sucks if you see everyone you know paired up but you. There’s also the difficulty with so many events/people seeing couples as the default and you get left out.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/04/26 04:24 PM

Yup this is my issue. And I have friends and a good social circle. But when you miss that boat it’s rough.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/26 01:05 PM

I agree a lot of users here are vicious or uncaring. OP protect yourself
/r/PurplePillDebate17/03/26 09:41 PM

You’re not responsible for your trauma but you are responsible for yourself is a cliche by this point. Funny enough in years of trauma-informed therapy no one has said this to me.

/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/26 06:32 PM

Many men have suffered and I can’t stand this denial anymore.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/25 06:12 PM

I mean it’s a two sided struggle but it’s real
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/25 06:11 PM

Christ I can’t do this anymore. I really can’t. The denial.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/25 06:11 PM

Basically this.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/25 06:02 PM

I think this poster is an ass but saying that free speech only has to do with the government is untrue and I see this sentiment a lot. I think it comes from an obsession with the First Amendment at the expense of other discourse on free speech. John Stuart Mill’s On Liberty, one of the foundational texts of free speech, makes many arguments that go far beyond governments. “Like other tyrannies, the tyranny of the majority was at first, and is still vulgarly, held in dread, chiefly as operating t…

I know right? Have you seen the video with the woman with the tape measure where she shows how 9 inches is like the size of her skull from top to bottom lol
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/25 06:21 PM

Why are we talking about little girls and boys now it’s so fucking weird
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/25 02:44 PM

Men usually care more about size than women. But it’s not like women don’t care about size at all. Most men are average=fine. What matters is what you do beforehand and with it.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/25 02:43 PM

Ahh I’m sorry but I have to say that reading this disturbs me a little. You don’t need someone else to take care of you and I’m sure you can be perfectly capable of managing your own emotions. If you are truly incapable of thinking for yourself, how could you even find a partner?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/25 08:13 PM

Oh no a woman is enjoying her life how sad 😔
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/25 05:12 PM

How about no? You can go back to the 19th Century if you wish (watch out for the cholera!). The rest of us don’t. But I suppose this is in character for RP Trumpanzees that think we should no longer be a modern liberal democracy but a decrepit backwards theocracy.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/25 09:45 PM

I think this is true for some but far from all men. I think if you leave this sub you might see other things. r/GuyCry for example. You’ll see a lot of loneliness, empathy, attempts at connection, etc. there.

Who is you people?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/04/25 09:51 AM

A woman can certainly benefit from things like social supports they didn’t individually create. Interestingly that is like the mirror image of a RP argument - men will say the created xyz.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/04/25 09:46 AM

Are the people who talk so much about single mothers (and absent fathers) in this subreddit aware of the um, let’s just say, racially charged undertones of what they’re saying?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/25 10:04 PM
1

Now it’s a racial quota 😆
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/25 03:04 PM
-1

Still no evidence.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/25 02:57 PM
2

Wow where did this quota come from? What industries? What evidence do you have?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/25 02:18 PM

That is at the heart of totalitarians and fascists - belief in power at all costs. They don't use rhetoric to persuade but to gain power and organize. They believe in a hierarchy of deference to themselves. Hannah Arendt's Origins of Totalitarianism has some great nuggets about this. Umberto Eco in Ur-Fascism as well.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/25 12:19 AM

Wow how many women have you met with all of these standards?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/25 11:43 PM

Hey if it works for you kudos. There are times I’ve gone after women and times I haven’t, like right now. Nothing wrong with that. You can still live a great life. Even Beethoven never married.

The problem is age gap relationships often have weird power imbalances and involve people in different life stages.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/25 11:01 PM
2

Oh I agree.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 09:53 PM

Agreed. Sounds weird to me. I had little experience in much of my teens and twenties but that’s because I had to first work on not flinching when someone stepped on creaky wooden stairs
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 09:44 PM

This has worked a lot for me in the past
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 09:13 PM

That can be good
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 08:58 PM

Sorry for the misunderstanding I’m not using approach just romantically but met could be another way to put it
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 05:45 PM

Well I’m talking about approaching even at those events. Ok so you’re at the hike. How do you talk? Really granular I know but I grew up with crippling social anxiety

2

Fair enough
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 05:27 PM

Yeah I mean books aren’t the best but a person has to begin some way therapy was how I did it

Yup agreed
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 05:17 PM

They do lie about this. A lot. Yea there are some approaches but very few
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 04:58 PM
2

There are a lot of women on here who say they approach men or that they hate it when men approach them
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:58 PM
1

So you think women should approach and also approach strangers?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:53 PM

Ok that’s creepy AF
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:43 PM

Oh yeah it’s terrible how much women’s health is neglected especially poorer women and women of color
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:43 PM

Damn that doesn’t leave much what about Gen X 😆
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:39 PM

What things actually work for you then? BTW one of my therapists dismissed my cousin molesting me so I get it
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:38 PM

https://www.ric.edu/academics/graduate-degree-programs/clinical-mental-health-counseling-ms/clinical-mental-health-counseling-ms-program-specifics If you scroll down you will find a list of courses at a local school near me for a masters in mental health counseling and I don’t see gender studies anywhere.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:36 PM

So you wish your therapists challenged you more? Mine did that a good amount with me
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:11 PM

That therapists do/trajn in any of the stuff you mentioned. You said you never had one.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:01 PM

How do you know this?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 02:58 PM

How did your therapist want you to cope?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 02:53 PM

There are plenty who are not millennial girl bosses
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 02:51 PM

I don’t think it’s unique. Finding someone you can work with is hard for anyone. But it’s also hard to sit in group therapy being the only guy. Even harder when you don’t want to be one. Interestingly enough though class issues are the biggest hurdle for me. Big difference between growing up poor as I did but most therapists I’ve seen were middle class and above. My first one was an exception.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 02:51 PM

What do you mean about it being feminized?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 02:46 PM

It’s not easy and a lot is trial and error basically. You also have to, I think, have some kind of goal or problem in mind to try to find a good fit. Be clear about what you are looking for and the work you want to do. I made the mistake of doing work in therapy for years that didn’t really help me much because I’m very obliging.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 01:42 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 12:58 PM

There’s a lot of drawbacks to teenage love - abuse, manipulation, naïveté, hormones, bullying, disappointment, school, parents hovering over you, acne, social media crap, body changes, lack of independence, shitty jobs, grades, awkwardness, you name it. Then you graduate and even if you had a good relationship and can go poof just like that. Work with young people and you’ll see it’s not all a bed of roses.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/25 03:31 PM

Agreed. Statistical misunderstandings are definitely rampant here. Redpillers especially but also others. Many don’t seem to know what statistical significance even is. Fallacies of composition are rampant. Then again I’ve read textbooks that mess up some of these concepts, especially a particular social science one.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 02:37 PM
12

Wait WTF do these guys have to do with redpill? Was Hadrian secretly practicing picking up woman while banging Antinous?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 12:58 AM

No need to be rude. Anyway, those stats don’t really explain why now Bumble made this change. That’s just raw data which means nothing on its own. My source specifically speaks to this.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:43 PM

Do you have a source that this is why they made the change? Here it says it was because it was a burden on women to make the first move (too difficult basically). https://www.npr.org/2024/05/06/1249296671/bumble-dating-apps-women-opening-moves
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:21 PM

One interesting point is that Bumble used to make women make the first move but then that failed. They had to go back to men doing it but faking like they weren’t with the whole prompt system.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:26 PM

I agree
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 11:06 AM

Ahhh, and you know this all how? What is your evidence?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/25 11:16 PM

There is no need for the government to require paternity tests. That is an infringement of bodily autonomy. Couples can work these issues out for themselves or with their lawyers.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/25 07:14 PM
23

Pretty obvious AI generated anti birth control drivel. Both men and women can both suffer from hormonal issues and we have doctors who can help with that. Just blaming any relationship problems on “da female hormones” is a fancier sounding way of saying “she’s just on the rag, duuuude.”
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/25 08:47 PM
2

I agree with you only on the narrow point that brains continually develop in complicated ways and 25 is not a magic cutoff year.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/25 10:42 AM

Fair enough. You’d have to ask Dr. Lieberman herself about this topic as this isn’t exactly my area.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/25 04:15 PM

Hey, if you want to publish peer reviewed history feel free. Things are always being challenged. But you need more data than just biology. And the Maines work would seem to come before modern understanding of the clitoris too. More historical data is needed. I have to be honest - Maines is not considered good history now and I learned that from a well-known female colleague because I used to teach about Victorian vibrators and massages (it’s interesting!). I get you may like her hypothesis but r…
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/25 04:01 PM

Scholars today think Maines' claims are too vague or unproven and they should at least not be accepted uncritically as a baseline. See also https://doi.org/10.1093/jhmas/jrm044 https://doi.org/10.54563/eugesta.1168 Obviously, history is messy (it is my area) and we can only follow data and say what is likely, probable, unlikely, unprobable, etc. Early reviews were generally good (although Worden pointed out a mistake here https://doi.org/10.1093/jhmas/56.3.293). But later scholarship has been ve…

I not only disagree but find the whole privilege debate tiresome. Saying women are privileged is ridiculous. I also think it’s true in many other contexts. The average man or woman may be this or that, but the individuals within that group are going to differ so much in their experience. Individual differences often swamp group differences. It’s also why I hate it when people say men are privileged. Very few of the women who have told me about male privilege were beaten as children. And they may…
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 11:24 PM

I can agree with that
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 10:59 PM

Jesus Christ are you really doing this? I’ve attempted many times can I win the competition?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 10:26 PM

I mean, if women don’t select you your line dies out. Right? How would you change that?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 08:25 PM

So you want to keep women from these opportunities? What do you want, to force women to choose who they don’t want?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 08:23 PM

Nice
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 07:56 PM

What is your favorite meal? For me it’s steak au poivre with fries, asparagus and chocolate torte. At least today. Tomorrow it might be something else!
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 07:51 PM

Agreed. Those who are not selected need to realize their place is extinction, as it always has been.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 06:47 PM

Well then step up, deal with it or get out. You heard her and she’s right. It’s a woman’s world now and nothing is going to change it. We have to adapt.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 06:46 PM

I really appreciate the honesty here. Makes me feel better about my circumstances in a way. I think you are close to 💯right, at least in a way that only looks at the individual benefit, which is very much the norm today for everybody. It’s very rare somebody is honest like this on here. This is pretty much how I think about this issue. I hate saying that both genders have it bad in dating because we all know rn it’s not true. Makes me cry a lot but 🤷‍♂️Us men need to be stoic and realistic and g…
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 05:42 PM

Gross
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/25 10:08 PM

I agree 💯
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/25 09:23 PM

You don’t have to make being an asshole your whole personality
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/25 09:15 PM

You’re all such assholes
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/25 09:14 PM

It obviously is to many of you. I think it’s horrible constantly insulting men’s dicks. Why I can’t stand being here with you assholes
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/25 09:07 PM

Then stay away from the sub? I mean, I do it most days
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/25 09:03 PM

Christ there are already posters in here talking about small dick energy. Can you all get a life?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/25 08:58 PM

Happy international women’s day!
/r/PurplePillDebate08/03/25 04:25 PM

What an awful take
/r/PurplePillDebate08/03/25 04:23 PM

Wait are you serious? This all sounds very sick
/r/PurplePillDebate08/03/25 03:49 PM

I’m certainly not happy with him
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/25 04:47 PM

Yeah once you’ve experienced this or someone close to you is like this you know what a hell a life like in A is.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/25 04:40 PM
1

Yeah I mean this op is laughable. Who’s gonna choose being born a baby addicted to opiates bounced around in foster care who is then reunited with momma who becomes a prostitute immediately and then joins a gang, goes to jail and has five baby mamas wtf?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/25 10:51 PM
8

Yup exactly it
/r/PurplePillDebate22/02/25 05:27 PM

I have think all this discourse around sexual needs is a little silly but can sympathize somewhat with someone in a predicament. I think brothels should be legal throughout the US.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/02/25 11:15 AM

Yeah in fact in a way you could say it’s worse because of the hidden intentions
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/25 10:20 PM
6

Agreed 💯of course always depends on the individual for both sexes but for me and many men - yeah we aren’t getting in a LTR with just anybody. Probably a smaller pool than most consciously realize.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/25 10:13 PM

Yeah I’m pretty picky too so I can understand. Who cares if women are picky? They have more to risk, what with pregnancy and all.

Scrote feelings?

Oh ok I can safely ignore your comment and citation then thanks

Not exactly high quality or applicable to all women
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/25 04:06 PM

This study is about women who seek out repeated voluntary abortions and n=41 😆
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/25 03:50 PM

I mean, I’ll agree so long as the man gets to get back a little on the child support so he can splurge too 😆but more seriously, put the money into a college fund or something

Love the citations to Sapolsky

Your anthropology is way out of date. See Graeber & Wengrow’s The Dawn of Everything (2021).

Stop excusing your gross generalizations of men which come out of nowhere. I’m sick of hearing it and your gross sexism and stereotyping is hurtful and makes me uncomfortable. Please leave me alone.

Well then I guess you disagree with OP as I do
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/25 11:51 AM

I’m happy to look at ways to improve things in this country through social services, day care, parental leave and maybe that will and raise birth rates a little, but you sound like someone who just wants to turn the clock back so not thanks.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/25 01:14 AM

Huh? This is about ending a relationship if nothing is going wrong?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/25 01:05 AM

You’re not responding to the comment in good faith. You can always make a separate post for a tangent or post on the daily but this is WAY off topic.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/25 01:04 AM

Hey OP! Should your logic extend to any relationship? Like if you have children? Sayonara, you’re not entitled to anything!
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/25 12:19 AM
8

Huh where did they say that? They talked about not breaking vows in a whim? There’s room for disagreement but it’s reasonable and there was no diatribe anywhere near equal to yours?

Christ every divorce is different stop this

It is extremely hard for me to be vulnerable as the two times I have done it with women ended up pretty bad - they lost attraction. They didn’t intend this I’m sure. It was not malicious. But it happened and killed two relationships. I’ve worked hard through mental illness and ND. My ability to even get in a relationship is difficult - like climbing up a mountain. To fall after being vulnerable is tough. Realistically I can’t afford to do it anymore. I’m 35 and already almost halfway through lif…
/r/PurplePillDebate18/01/25 02:43 AM

Oh yeah I agree. And that’s universal - people hate taking responsibility. I screwed up my twenties and had to fix a lot of things. I dropped out of college but then went back and did very well and went to grad school. I suffered a lot in my life and childhood but I’ve tried hard. Only problem is sometimes my best doesn’t seem enough.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/01/25 03:05 PM

Yeah I agree it’s not human, so what are people up in arms about? Women I know have broken dicks modeled after male porn stars and I couldn’t care less.

This just seems like rage bait and ranting rather than a proper debate
/r/PurplePillDebate16/01/25 10:53 PM

I’m fine with sex robots and as fine with that as I am with sybians and other things.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/01/25 08:13 PM

Yeah it’s kinda worrisome to read teachers like this. Unfortunately all too common. I know some who just hate their students and it’s like get another job

Yes sorry if I wasn’t clear I’m trying to be brief I don’t have much time right now

Therapies vary widely. From one of the papers: “Indeed, some research indicates that men may prefer a healing environment that involves ‘shoulder-to-shoulder’, action-oriented tasks outside of a formal clinic, rather than ‘face-to-face’, talk-focused therapy in a formal health clinic”
/r/PurplePillDebate05/01/25 05:43 PM
3

Hmm I think that personal responsibility is important but mental health is more complicated than single individual variables
/r/PurplePillDebate05/01/25 05:33 PM

Partially yes. A focus on explicit problem solving too
/r/PurplePillDebate05/01/25 05:31 PM

I think we should go beyond victim blaming to a more holistic model of men’s mental health https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0706743718758041
/r/PurplePillDebate05/01/25 05:25 PM

There is an increasing amount of scholarship on men’s mental health, often advocating more active forms of help rather than just talk therapy and that saying that men are just stubborn or don’t want help isn’t working. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29673270/ https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0706743718758041

According to this survey most men tried to get help before suicide https://www.hqip.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/NCISH_2021-Suicide-by-middle-aged-men-report_HQIP_FINAL.pdf

I think this is all pretty sensible.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/01/25 02:59 AM

So you think marriage should be a religious institution? Could you explain more? I actually ask in earnest. Secular marriages are a modern invention I guess.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/01/25 02:56 AM

Yeah I agree a good partnership can always elevate people
/r/PurplePillDebate01/01/25 02:55 AM

Can we do something bout this disgusting misogynistic nonsense?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/01/25 02:54 AM

Agreed along with pseudo history and so many others
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/24 09:38 PM

Yeah DV is way too serious to say this BS you have that many fears of paternity fraud get a lawyer
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/24 09:36 PM

Yeh agreed I’m wary and birth control can be unreliable
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/24 09:33 PM

Oh I’d love to see that too.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/24 09:30 PM

I agree. Also, why do this when you could talk it out, leave her, pretty much any other reasonable course of action? What did he trying would happen? “Honey, look at my Excel Sex sheet. I’ve been initiating 2.3 times per week and your acceptance rate is a paltry 5.7%. Last quarter’s median sex activities rate declined drastically.” “Oh dear! I’ll get right on that. Let’s use ISO 9001 and set some fuck targets.”
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/24 08:37 PM
1

I'm sorry to hear that. The Duluth model has been widely criticized in scholarly literature.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/24 06:34 PM
2

Yeah I agree 💯with this.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/24 12:23 AM
4

I don’t think it’s just a show. Maybe for some individuals it is. But not overall. Do you have any scholarly evidence that it is? Suicide and overdoses, as well as other data, seem pretty real to me. I don’t know what you mean with your first sentence. Are you saying that men are to blame for everything wrong in society?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 09:34 PM
2

We have a similar issue in teaching, which I do and is very female dominated. And of course STEM is often the inverse.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 07:21 PM
3

I agree they are it mutually exclusive I think that’s one error I’ve made before. Many things can reinforce and help. There definitely needs to be an alternative to red pill. Right now it offers community, understanding and validation and I’m trying to provide that as best I can to young men. But it’s not easy red pill seems to grow every day.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 07:02 PM
2

Ahh ok that much clearer thank you. I actually agree with a lot of that, though I think a lot of mainstream talk therapy is still iffy for men and alternatives are needed - I noticed any changes of mental health practice were not in your list and I think that’s important too.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 07:01 PM
7

Wow that’s interesting. Therapy has helped me before but I started to tire of it and looked more towards the latter stuff lately. It can be good but is certainly no cure all - as no treatment is.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 06:41 PM
4

Well your response seems to be 1. Men don’t want to do therapy/are non compliant so it won’t work 2. Men don’t understand therapy. Men confuse sex work for therapy. 3. Men are much worse at handling mental issues logically. Aren’t these all individual causation? I can agree somewhat with some of these but this response seems to be what the paper argues against. Or are you against Whitley’s opinion?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 06:19 PM
4

Interesting point. What do you think about this: “This narrow focus often singularly attributes the cause of a health problem to the attitudes and behaviours of men, rather than acknowledging a highly complex web of causation.”
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 05:52 PM
5

Agreed
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 05:45 PM
3

Thanks for the edit. Yeah, expectations matter and can definitely affect mental health.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 04:29 PM
3

I’m sorry I don’t understand what does ar jtearh expe stinks mean?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 04:25 PM
5

Good points but I think that in mental health the argument is that for a long time it has been default female. But that’s debatable.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 04:21 PM
5

Yeah this is definitely an issue. I think too many men are waiting to be a line hero like in the movies and myths. But you have to build a life for yourself. It’s a behavior and not something to wait for.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 04:11 PM
5

How do you know this? I’m all i favor of more physical activity but therapy can play a role.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 04:09 PM
2

Very true especially with those who are very violent or unstable
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 04:08 PM
7

Thanks for your response. I agree men need to take responsibility. But isn’t it also true “that the wider social discourse around men’s health per se has often adopted a narrowly focused, deficit-based approach?”
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 04:07 PM
2

He’s an extremely mainstream psychiatrist what’s the issue? Many therapists including my own have recommended his books on feeling good. He’s well-respected in the field.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 03:24 PM
3

He’s a mainstream psychiatrist who helped popularize CBT, one of the most popular therapies that has helped millions. Look him up. Many people in mental health sell things - books, therapy, etc. since the time of Freud.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 03:20 PM
3

You may agree or disagree with him but Dr. David Burns is a world-renowned therapist. I’m sure he didn’t mean to harass women but to instead put out yourself out there for some exposure.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 03:16 PM
10

While I wouldn’t necessarily think it would be healthy for a person to be super promiscuous (whatever that is) why should I ultimately care? And shouldn’t people enjoy sex?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/12/24 05:09 PM
3

Yeah I agree. There’s definitely a spectrum but it’s good to be higher in it for a relationship. But I’ve also seen attraction grow in some couples so…
/r/PurplePillDebate29/12/24 05:08 PM

I actually agree this is a definite problem and something reasonable will have to be worked out. There is a dialect going on with the issue of parental choice that can’t be denied.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 03:50 PM

How many of those prison guards were women? Bet you know the answer.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 03:29 PM

I’ve been suicidal myself so it’s actually really personal for me. This is the end of the discussion.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 03:10 PM

Yes
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 03:07 PM

Was that motivated by gender? Enough concern trolling.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 03:07 PM

I meant in the modern era US, basically last few decades
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 02:55 PM

Why not? You can be angry and rant and also get things to change. Betty Friedan, Nina Simone were both very angry and ranted a lot.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 02:21 PM

Exactly
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 02:05 PM

So violating rights is ok in states with small populations of democrats got it.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:37 PM

It was not a legal abomination. Even if it was, I don’t care. I’m not goin g to support the constitutionality of segregated schools in Washington DC just because the Bolling case used reverse incorporation, as if the founders had getting rid of segregation on their mind when drafting the Fifth Amendment. Yet even Scalia found a use for reverse incorporation when it came to hating on affirmative action in Adarand. Results matter.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:37 PM

I mean I would care about women’s health no matter what my personal position. Just as I would care about other social questions I have no immediate personal stake in.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:31 PM

Actually plenty of women non-obese without blue hair have brought this up to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:29 PM

What a heinous, disgusting, misogynistic comment. Truly bottom of the barrel.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:17 PM

More than the one as abortion also has to do with medical care and many other things. Many gyns/obs are leaving states with strict bans.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:16 PM

Very good point
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:14 PM

What a disgusting misogynistic comment. It always comes down to opening women’s legs to you doesn’t it?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:13 PM

Screw off misogynist pig
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:12 PM

So after having unprotected sex you don’t want to pay child support. Therefore abortion should be banned and women should die of sepsis until women decide they don’t want your child support anymore. Seems more likely women would just avoid having unprotected sex in this scenario, no?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:12 PM

Plenty of men get hook ups. You can’t be serious.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:08 PM

Thanks for bringing this up.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:07 PM

Every date I’ve been on has brought this issue up at some point, so it’s clearly having an impact.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:06 PM

Good point.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:06 PM

I think it’s important to advocate for one’s beliefs. Whether it works or not is not up to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:06 PM

Sure tell yourself that.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:04 PM
1

Nonsense.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 02:44 AM
3

Yes
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 02:24 AM
2

Yeah contracts are not always inviolable there are many reasons they are canceled or void.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 02:19 AM
3

Yeah women’s infidelity rates have been increasing for some time.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 02:18 AM
8

Very good point.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 02:15 AM
2

I agree. Most people died at 40 throughout history. Should we base current social policy off of this? But today in the US we are talking about lgbtq divorces (and marriages) and honor killings in the same breath?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:43 AM
-2

Wow there must be more honor killings and virginity checks in your neck of the woods than mine.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/24 01:37 AM

Agreed I think this is a reasonable take.

Nonsense. Society has improved in many ways alongside women’s rights. Just ridiculous, misogynistic, sick assertions.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/12/24 02:00 AM

I agree I like sex and have a high libido and think it’s ridiculous that women shouldn’t enjoy it too.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/24 11:22 PM

This is a pretty awful take and just plain offensive

I agree. The anti woke stuff sometimes can have a point but has gone way too far and is motivated by bigotry. I love video games and have been pissed at all the hate directed to, for example, Dragon Age Veilguard, which I thought was a good effort 7/10 game. Now there’s hate toward Witcher 4 trailer that just came out when we A. Know pretty much nothing about the game B. CDPR has a great track record and C. Ciri was the obvious choice for a (already existing) protagonist, putting aside creating …

I can definitely see and have experienced all the worst hurts men have done. But a topic like this is so broad. As humans we are (supposedly) highly intelligent hairless apes. It’s a part of our humanity to be flawed unfortunately. Despite being agnostic I think this is something Augustine gets sorta right with original sin. But, anyway, men could definitely be kinder and bully less. But I also think masculinity has so much to give so I’d hate to lose that.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 04:41 PM

Yes you can waive parental rights so this is a nonissue
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 03:17 AM

No I don’t. I care for my students deeply.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 03:09 AM

If the fathers would support the children there would be a lot less redistribution.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 03:05 AM

Again, I could just as easily say abortion is throwing a child away as garbage. Chill out.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 03:02 AM

Agreed
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 02:55 AM

As a teacher my mission is to help young men reason and be responsible. But they also need to be heard. The modern sexual revolutions have caused many displacements, reevaluations, changes, etc. But screaming won’t and hasn’t worked - if anything MRA has only grown. Would screaming at you that feminists suck because they’re just trying to get on welfare as single mothers help you see reason?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 02:53 AM

I don’t believe in MRA nor did I like my father (who was abusive). But saying men don’t give a flying fuck about men is awful to say.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 02:44 AM

Get a vasectomy or use a condom
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 02:40 AM

Jesus Christ this is pretty extreme and bigoted rhetoric are you ok?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 02:29 AM

I mean a man can get a vasectomy right? Just as a woman can get an abortion? You get the medical procedure if you don’t want to pay child support.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 02:24 AM

What do you mean standard? You mean common? As it’s from the Thomson article every 1st year philosophy student has to read? Standard also doesn’t mean incontestable.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 02:12 AM

Your analogy about being forced to be hooked up seems to work better in cases of rape than in voluntary intercourse.

Ahhh, I get it. Try this argument on for size: “Men are stronger and can dominate women physically and hurt them. They in fact do. This just is. You catch women saying it shouldn’t be this way but it just is.” Doesn’t this seem like a very impoverished form of argument? There should be “shoulds” or “oughts,” shouldn’t there? The disagreement would come with which shoulds or oughts we adapt.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/12/24 08:36 PM

Be careful with sexual dimorphism arguments. They can go both ways. You could also use sexual dimorphism to argue, let’s say, that a woman SHOULD have an older mate with more resources.

So what if something is the norm or not? If older guys dating younger women or vice versa was the norm would that make it ok?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/12/24 02:28 PM

I agree. It’s utterly pointless. I think things are returning to times when 90%+ of men do not reproduce. I think men are pretty much cooked in modern society. Less and less women and men are in relationships. It would be better if we men committed mass suicide to stop being a burden as we are not needed anymore.

There is no guarantee of anything. A logical consequence of the appointment of extreme anti abortion activists vetted and handpicked by a legal society totally opposed to Roe v Wade to the Supreme Court is a much higher chance of Roe v Wade being overturned. I follow plenty of legal commentators who predicted this such as Paul Campos. It was easily foreseeable for those who actually know the court. Just count the votes in Hellerstedt, add in Kennedy’s retirement. https://www.npr.org/2018/06/28/6…

It is obvious that his appointments made it possible and he himself has taken credit. We should be morally responsible for the anticipated consequences of our actions, in this case his Fed Soc appointments. But plausible deniability is a part of the strategy - he can hide behind the court and blame them if the heat is turned up.

I don’t think women are more homogeneous than men at all. You could easily look at the variety of ways they dress (since you mentioned this) and compare it to men who wear the same hoodie every day.

Easy to say when rejection is much less a part of life for women than men. Norah Vincent is one of the few women I’ve read who seemed to understand this.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/09/24 03:04 PM

For me, the hallmark of entitlement is to expect the other gender to experience rejection more 🤷‍♂️Of course men complain more if they put themselves out there and are rejected more.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/09/24 02:54 PM

If women are the ones doing the divorcing they are obviously rejecting the man (and there may be good reasons). Never seeing a woman arguing out of a breakup is a separate issue and I’ve seen it plenty of times. But, overall, men still experience more rejection. I gave statistics for who initiates divorce and rejects/leaves the other. That leaves breakups. Are you arguing that most breakups are initiated by men?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/09/24 02:37 PM
2

Women initiate something like 70% of divorces. I just laugh at the idea of a woman never trying to argue out of a breakup as it’s so fantastical. Just a fantasy world.

Men make the first move and deal with rejection more. Fact. They literally had to change Bumble because doing what men do all the time was too much of a “burden” for women. Bumble Changes

Agreed
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/24 08:26 PM

This is why I’m giving up and getting closure in my life and putting my affairs in order. Just can’t do this anymore. I can’t take the rejection. And you know who else can’t? Women, who never wanna pursue. So much so that Bumble had to change the way they did things. Ladies: read Norah Vincent’s book if you wanna see what it’s like.

While there are definitely many different groups of women, and no monoliths, I don’t think 1. addresses the crux of the argument, which is that there is indeed a group of women who say they value one thing but often choose another. Revealed preference, in other words. And this shouldn’t be a surprise- plenty of men do this too. It’s a human thing.
