Thank you man. The divorce is not final yet and on different days I feel different feelings and think different things. Sometimes I’m ok, sometimes mad, sometimes sad, etc.

Do you have boys only? Or girls too? Are they still small? I have two boys that are still small. If I had girls idk what I would do. If my boys were older maybe I wouldn’t be so worried.

Good way to think about it my friend! I was thinking the same. I’d live life and be the best dad I can and if I’ll remain single so be it.

Good that you don’t feel threatened. Yea as long as bio dad is a good dad that helps a lot. And yea my stbxw is changing her last name back to her maiden name.

You have kids with her though right? It’s not just the one she already had before meeting you?

I worry about that too…

Wow… I am sorry. This is wild. Does she know about his history? Is your son small? Are you getting in the divorce decree that someone with that record cannot be around your son?
/r/Divorce_Men14/01/25 01:57 PM

See, having her kids call another man dad is crossing a line. This is something I would absolutely not be ok with. My stbxw said she would not cross that boundary. I hope she sticks with that and doesn’t change her mind down the road. If anything, I will teach my kids myself to not call another man dad or father. That is not cool.

Good mindset. Are the boys still small?

Would you have felt this way if your ex moved on right away? While your kids were still small? If years pass, I too would not be as worried if my kids are bigger.

Ahh I see. Do you have a good relationship with your daughter?

Dang. Seems like you handled it well. I feel like I’d get jealous. Especially about another guy being with my boys. Are your boys older? Mine are still small.

I am happy for you! This is how I am starting to see things as well. My divorce is not final yet but I am accepting it and seeing that it can be a blessing in disguise. I also plan on getting closer to God, becoming the best version of myself, and being the best dad possible! Do you have kids too? Mine give me joy and purpose. They are helping me get through this easier. Keep on staying positive my man! And God bless you.

All we can do now is try and be the best dads that we can be. At least we have our kids. Sorry to hear you aren’t doing much better yet. Don’t give up hope!

I wouldn’t be able to tell you because I am in the middle of a divorce now. I’m thinking everyone is different and takes a different amount of time to heal. How many kids do you have? Are they still very young? I’m worried about my boys the most. They’re still small and I’m not ok with another man potentially coming into their life anytime soon.

I’m thinking about being single for the rest of my life and being the best dad I can be. My wife is the one divorcing me and open to a new partner. I’m worried about another man being in my kids lives. I feel threatened by it.

My wife is divorcing me and we have been married only 9 years. I have little children. It’s hard. Can’t imaging being with someone 40 years and going through that. But atleast you can look at it that you had so many memories to make even if she does leave. At least you saw your children grow up and it wasn’t hard on them.

Ask her why she doesn’t love you anymore. Ask her what is love to her. Ask her if she is talking to someone. Ask her if there is something you can do.

You are not alone. My wife was the same. She is so creative and always made the holidays and celebrations super special. Today we filed our divorce paperwork and it’s starting to hit me hard. I feel like crying as I am typing this. I also have young children and I already miss my family and stbxw even though we are still living together for 2 more months. I also wish we could work things out. Hang in there buddy. If you need someone to talk to you can always dm me.

Good way of thinking about it, dad. It’s how I’ve been thinking it similarly as well. Our kids need us and we need to be strong for them. It’s ok for us to cry and feel emotions, but we can’t let this destroy us. We can’t change the past. We can only change the present and affect our futures. Our kids depend on us to be the best that we can for them!

I’m glad you are doing somewhat better. Time heals all wounds, at least that’s what they say. It might never fully go away but the pain should hopefully lessen over time. I know everyone’s situation is different and so that matters as well. Thanks to this group we know that we are not alone in going through this. Other men out there share similar pains.

Dad, you are doing great! Keep on being the best dad you can. You’re an inspiration. Those kids need you more than ever during this time. You cannot control her behavior, you can only control yours. It seems to me that you are making the most out of this situation. No other man will be those kids dad! You are their dad! No one can replace you. I’m rooting for you man. Stay strong.
