Thank you all <3 Some seriously seriously good advice here :) I’m sorry I didn’t reply sooner. I was feeling overwhelmed. Just with everything. There’s a chance he doesn’t have cancer and I’ll just pray that it’s something else.... anything else But if it does turn for the worst, I think I know how to handle myself now :)

That sounds like such a lovely weekend <3 And it sounds like you both are really enjoying each other before kids come into the picture, which is lovely :)

I’m so glad it worked out for you! I didn’t expect this to be a misunderstanding, I’m so glad it was. Sometimes, I suppose, even our closest partners don’t realize what’s going on with our bodies if we’re able to wake up every morning with a smile on our face. I’m sorry I was so quick to judge. <3 I’m unbelievably happy for you. I’m also a little disappointed at how many people are recommending the pull out method... Around here we have a saying. What do you call men who “pull out”? Fathers

Doctors don’t generally recommend condoms to monogamous partners. They generally have it in their heads that they don’t work. Both my sister and I have heard from separate doctors and obgyn’s that hormonal birth control/copper iud were the only way to go. It’s likely because they can’t write you a prescription for condoms. Whatever the reason, they’re more effective than the pull out method. You’re not going to convince me that it isn’t selfish. For a year I had an IUD until I needed it removed.…

You two are babies! Please don’t let this destroy you. The idea of having exactly the life you want before you’re even 20 is setting very high expectations of yourselves and your situation. Tell him how this will be such an odd memory 10 years from now when you’re in your preferred roles. Tell him how things are rough now, but they’ll change. What’s important right now is growing together rather than growing apart. You’re far too young to become bitter from circumstance. Please, if you love each…

I agree with browniebarbie. You can’t fully demand perfection from your behaviour because, above all else, you’re human. We’re all flawed and will make mistakes daily. Just make notes, even physical notes in a dairy, stating that you didn’t like how you handled something and will do better next time. I’m lucky. My husband is VERY easy to submit to. I trust that he’ll always do his best. Even if I’m not happy about a decision, I know he always has my health, safety, and our long term happiness/go…

Why do so many men act like wearing condoms for a little while is the worst thing in the world? To me, it shows a lack of respect and maturity. He would rather you suffer hormonal side effects then have to wear a latex barrier. No, it doesn’t feel as good, but you experience side effects 24/7, not just during sex. Don’t listen to these folks that the pull out method is effective. Unless you want to be a mother sooner than you plan. My husband and I used condoms for YEARS because hormonal birth c…

Thank you so much!! I don’t understand... if this information is out there, why do people still say it’s just as simple as eat less move more? And I don’t mean random people, like doctors do.

I take a leaf out of 1950s handbooks. Be a little gay (cheerful) for no reason other than to see him. Greet him at the door, take his bags or anything and let him take off his outdoor things and relax. Let him explain his day and feelings first. Let him know you find what he does in a day to be important and interesting. Genuine complements combined with gentle touches also go a long way <3

Thank you for that article :) I’ve been told a calorie is a calorie, idk.... FOREVER it’s frustrating to see that isn’t the truth, but it’s also fantastic to know because now I know what to do different

Well, there’s a little more to it than just my weight. But that is probably the thing that gets me down the worst. If I was healthier I think I’d probably have the energy to deal with the rest. Thank you :)

I am going to give her a few weeks to clean up her act. But I’m going to let her know she’s being monitored And will continue to be monitored. I’ll tell her why things haven’t been running smoothly and inform her that changes must happen

That’s really smart!! I like the idea of weekly rental agreements. She’s 25, so not much younger. She’s living with us because she claimed living under her parents roof was making her too depressed and anxious to function. Apparently they still treat her like a teenager. She can’t afford a place of her own because she doesn’t work full time, so she’s staying here for now. Before she moved in she’d just show up with a backpack after a fight with her mom and stay for 3-4 days. This would happen a …

I actually just got off of my medication. It’s only been 3 weeks. I’m going to try relying on therapy only. I was on really high dose meds right from day 1 and I decided enough was enough when I read that one of the 3 psychiatric pills can cause early dementia. I get a little better each day. I know how emotional exhaustion feels and, other than yesterday and a few days when everything got to me, it hasn’t been emotional. It’s been physical

You’re so sweet <3 you’re right. Thank you. I still want to lose the weight, but you’re right that I have to be careful. I have a history of EDNOS and bulimia (on and off for 20 years). I can work on myself, but I can’t put all my worth in what my size is <3 Good luck on your journey of healing.

I’m not so sure about the weight gain, but the medication for sure has an effect on my sleep. I give it another week and I’ll be back to normal. When I was put on them this happened, when the dose increased or decreased this happened, and now stopping them is probably making it happen again.

You’re lovely! Thank you so much! This sounds insanely attainable! Sometimes I weigh myself after every meal, so I’m for sure obsessive.... I like walking and barre inspired workout plans :D I’ll get to those and try to just let the health happen through good habits rather than trying to force weight loss. Thank you <3 I was going to do OMAD, but maybe that’s too much to start with?

Thank you so much <3 I’ll give her one more chance, but I’m going to put my foot down. Her other option is moving back with her parents so if being out is really important to her, she’ll change. I can’t afford extensions, but maybe I can get those cheaper fake bun/fake ponytail things! He actually likes them. This is 100000% my PERSONAL hang up. I see them as signs of past impulsiveness and lack of planning for the future. You’re right, I just need to get over them. I can’t quite join a gym. (Mo…

Thank you :) I agree, so I’ve been trying to apologize less. It is sort of a weak and self conscious looking thing, so it’s not great. He’s very aware of the issues with his sister... but it is true that complaining about her often gets nothing done. If I need to vent I can turn to my own sister who’s aware of the situation.

You’re lovely! Thank you so much! Many blessings to you on your journey as well <3 She becomes very defensive when confronted, but I’ll try to do it in a positive way. She’s very much the typical college SJW (except she’s 25 and dropped out of college years ago). It’s strange... she feels that because I’m a woman who lives traditionally she can take advantage? I had to explain to her that she’s welcome to all the groceries in the house, but I’m not her cook. (For a while she’d ask me to make a v…

You’re very smart! Thank you! Like, maybe focus on weight loss and keeping the house nice, but not perfect? Making sure dinner is healthy, exercising, resting when I need to, going for long walks with our beautiful German Shepard, etc. (He used to do most of the walking because I got sick in a weird way. But now, though I need a short nap right after, I can go pretty far with the pup! A little farther each day!) Then once I’m feeling a bit better I’ll worry more about things like beautiful home …

That is a fantastic idea! Thank joy so so much! He’s about 10 inches taller than I am (I’m 5’1) and STILL has the metabolism he had when we were teenagers, so half of what he eats makes a lot of sense! Another thing I can do is eat half what he eats of the main portion of the dish and, if I’m still hungry, fill up on steamed vegetables. Low calorie, high nutrition, and high fibre. (So they fill you up!)

Thank you very much! He and I were talking and we agreed that weight loss might make me feel less sick, even if it doesn’t fix everything :) :) I stopped taking the medication that I believe caused some of the weight gain and put on another 6lbs in 3 weeks. I was losing weight, didn’t change my habits from my weight loss plan, then suddenly I weighed 6lbs more all at once about 20 days after stopping my medication. It was a really big blow to my motivation, but I’m not going to let it stop me. N…

You’re very sweet. Thank you. He told me to remember how Christ views me. I’m a new creation in Him, so why does it matter how the world sees me. My husband isn’t even Christian, but sometimes he’s a better one than I am XD

No problem, doll <3 and if it doesn’t work out the first time, don’t give up! I’d also invest in a thin scarf/bandana to tie around your hair while you sleep. Keeps everything in place 🥰 (Thin as in material. A wide enough one to cover your head)

Look up different roller and pin curl “sets” on Pinterest and YouTube. One of the ones I find prettiest is the Betty Draper one (found on Pinterest) There are many ways to set the hair and that determines the shape it’ll take. The most important thing after rolling the hair, whether in pin curls or foam rollers, is to brush it out until it smooths. This can take a while, but you’d be surprised how well a paddle brush can take a puffy frizzy curl ball into sleek waves and curls

I’m an overweight woman. After being over prescribed psychiatric medication and gaining 70lbs in 1.5-2 years... I’m fat. It’s not cute. I feel bad for my poor husband. (Though he assures me he’s still happy and just wants to see me move forward and get healthy. Wonderful man) Because I’m overweight and dress nicely people have the audacity to assume I’m PROUD of it. I can’t tell you the comments I’ve gotten on how nice it is to see a woman embracing her size. I’ve also gotten plenty of fat women…

I used to do something similar. For me it turned out I had such bad anxiety that I’d literally like... forget how to walk in the presence of others... XD If that isn’t your issue, you just need a little practice :) take a barre or ballet class and remember how they tell you to hold yourself. Relax it a little, and try to hold yourself with grace and an upright position. (You don’t have to squeeze everything into oblivion like in ballet while you walk) If you practice walking around the house thi…

That’s lovely! Thank you :) I did that! He actually asked me to clean the bathroom a little more than I usually do. I usually focus on the kitchen the most. He mentioned that the bathroom could use an extra bit of elbow grease and he came home happy to see that it was very clean :) On top of that he likes to have a phone conversation while he drives home (Bluetooth! What! I’m sorry friend... she sounds very immature. To expect your partner to be completely impartial to everything you do in life because “she’s happy, so get over it” that’s literally something entitled children think. I get to do whatever I want. No judgement, no consequence. Yikes! Are you sure you want to stay with her? Could you imagine that behaviour in someone you live with? Someone you’re raising children with? .....

Thank you very much. I think you’re right. Everyone else here has also said the same. I think it’s because I assume that to most people I’d sound like a burden. But most people are crazy liberals that think women are only worth something when they are men.

Thank you so much! You’re very much right. When we started dating I was very much a typical college feminist (who eventually dropped out...) and when he told me all he wanted was to have a picket fence life I was confused and almost like... offended? 12 years later that’s the life we’re living and he seems happy! I need to stop questioning it. Thanks again 😊

Thank you so much. You’re right. I think he values women’s work and I do not. Starting at like age 10 until a few years ago I was a little Gloria Steinem wanna be where as he grew up with a stay at home mom who tried to make every day special. One pan/pot meals are a great place to start! We’re on a tight budget so I like to keep our bill as low as possible while finding creative ways to stretch expensive things like meat! Start small. Pick one thing at time. I also LOVE the pioneer woman for inspiration on cooking!!

I completely agree! So many women “do their makeup for themselves” (because they’re not technically going anywhere) but then do a selfie photo shoot in their bedroom for Instagram! Cognitive dissonance. I’ll do my hair for myself, but only kind of. What I’m actually doing is practicing for when I’m going out and will re-create that style to impress/fit in with others.

The fact that you are pre-analyzing yourself and wanting the best for your children (who aren’t even here yet!) puts you ahead of many <3 I’m sure that, as a team, you and your man will be able to raise wonderful children despite your disability.
