And many other prominent political positions. And not just the US. Look, I'm not going to suggest marriage is a good idea, quite the opposite, but these are legitimate examples.

Social/political status, though this is less and less relevant. I can't imagine a non-married person being elected President of the US anytime soon, for example.

I would prepare for him to possibly feel hurt, insulted, and end the relationship. If it were me, I would want to know sooner rather than later. The longer you wait, the more I would feel deceived.

Some people consider sex to be the most intimate expression of their desire and affection for their partner. To hear that "you're not so much into it, but don't mind it either" could be very negatively received. It might kill whatever passion they feel. I don't want sex all the time, but when I'm having it, I want the person I'm with to enjoy and want it, too, not just feel it's something they do to please their SO. If it were occasional specific acts, that's one thing, but I wouldn't want to ha…

Thank you for the answers. I'll probably give test-e a try after another year or so of lifting. I'm most concerned about finding quality product.

What will you say when he asks you why you have sex with him, if you only enjoy the cuddling? Do you think he might feel deceived? Do you think he might reject you? Personally, I would never enter or continue a (romantic, sexual) relationship with someone that identifies as nearly asexual. Friendship? Sure.

Do you think it was most effective because it was the first, sort of like a second round of newbie gains? How difficult was it to obtain Test-E? If not doctor prescribed, how were your concerns about quality of product addressed?

Because of feminism? No. I would guess that security and affluence reduce pressure to have (more) children, and feminism is possibly more likely to be promoted in such a "comfortable" environment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographic-economic_paradox

And it's not as if there's only one short, fat, hesitant guy playing that passive lottery. He's looking for that 1 in 8000 (that he believes is 1 in 8), but he's part of a very large pool of short, fat, hesitant male peers. They are still in competition with each other, and the odds get worse.

A marriage is no garauntee of a lifelong supportive partner. Children are no garauntee of support in decrepit years. Avoiding the "tied down" relationship of marriage does not mean friendship and other relationships are excluded.

Anecdote: I'm friends with a naturally very attractive woman in her mid-twenties. She's not what I would call a "party girl," a "slut," or even "flirty." We were having a conversation about sex and relationships one night, just the two of us. She made me swear to secrecy and then confided that (a couple years prior) she had slept with her yoga instructor ("but only a few times, because he was hot, but too much of an asshole"). She and her close friends are all very liberal and sex-positive. I ha…

Hard to beat that. "Cynicism is an attitude or state of mind characterized by a general distrust of others' motives believing that humans are selfish by nature, ruled by emotion, and heavily influenced by the same primitive instincts that helped humans survive in the wild before agriculture and civilization became established." What if "deep feelings" do develop? Does this mean your hypothetical husband can develop deep feelings for an extra-marital partner as long as they are not deeper than his feelings for you? What if this hypothetical husband would actually be happier with the extra-marital partner than with you? Do you limit the happiness of the person you love for your own (selfish) reasons? Strong love doesn't just disappear over time, especially if it's maintained. This strikes me as somewhat tautalogical (or …

Outside of one night stands, which I don't find very satisfying, I develop "feelings" for every woman I sleep with. I wouldn't describe it as "love," but there's some kind of emotional connection that is created. Where and how do you draw the line? On the other end of this, how can one promise to maintain an existing feeling (presumably their love for you)? OP was pointing out a supposed link between a moral policy in one instance and the other conflicting, possibly. And your similar assertion is just as tenuous and ridiculous, especially in light of your selective quote removing a diet which you support and roughly follow yourself. Keep grasping at straws; you almost have enough for a whole man.

Blah blah blah... I agree with LCHF to a degree. However, I prefer mediterranean which is similar. Paleo often ends up being LCHF. Similar for Mediterranean. Your selective quoting is silly, especially in light of your own diet. Hitler was supposedly a vegetarian towards the end of his life. So what? It's just as stupid for you and OP to link diet to a group that isn't about diet.

Did I just read "I see no reason to get married because of the poor material benefits for me"? Is that supposed to be a paraphrasing of my comment? Height is easy to see, and hard to fake (within reason). Sexual history is hard to see and easy to fake. If partner promiscuity is important to a person, when and how is a polite way to inquire about their promiscuity? How can you be sure of the validity of response?

What benefits does marriage provide a father that proof of paternity does not? The mother can separate either way (with or without marriage). Extended cohabitation and support, depending on local law, may be roughly equivalent to divorcing and paying alimony, but that doesn't seem to be a good reason to marry. As far as I have seen, this argument really boils down to 'get married because that's what women want/demand.'

One of those things is being up front that we are not exclusive and thus not requiring them to be exclusive. No. I agree with being honest and open (mostly because it's easier, not because it's RP), but you can set whatever standard you want, double or otherwise. Spinning plates is a reference to concurrent relationships, which defines the spinner as non-exclusive, not the plate. Guys shouldn't be hard to get, and playing games isn't fun. "Girls shouldn't be hard to get, and playing games isn't fun," is the lament of every sexually unsuccessful guy out there. What I have is the fact that before people get married they tend to fuck that person. And what about every sexual relationship before marriage?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/15 07:42 PM

If you say so. I'm not disputing the 'actual evidence' of marriage statistics. Can you show that marriage statistics are representative of pre-marriage fucking? Or are you suggesting that women only fuck men they will eventually marry?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/15 07:35 PM
1

Call it whatever you want. The theory holds up well enough in my experience and the experience of people (both men and women) in my life (at least those that are candid or can be observed). Marriage statistics are easy to get. I doubt you'd find much reliable data on fucking, let alone pre-marriage fucking. Perhaps you could extract data from a dating site to see what the response rate is relative to age difference. Still questionable, but it might get closer to the "concrete evidence" you seek.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/15 07:23 PM

RP theory roughly states that a young woman will fuck an older attractive man (alpha fucks) but settle for and marry (beta bucks) a less attractive man than those she was fucking while younger. If the woman is seeking a provider for her, and especially her children, a closer age becomes preferable (all else being equal). Marriage statistics aren't necessarily 'backwards compatible' to the types (including age gap) of sexual relationships before marriage. Call it whatever you want. You might also…

The only 'evidence' I can offer is anecdotal. Marriage statistics are easy to obtain, but I doubt there's much in the way of reliable surveys on actual dating practices (especially with regard to the more casual end of the spectrum of sex and dating).

Marrying? Yes. Dating*? I'm doubtful. Settling for and marrying the similar-age provider would fit into RP theory just fine. EDIT: *Dating being a sexual relationship without marriage, including one night stand, fuckbuddies, friends with benefits, etc.

Maybe we don't disagree after all. I reread your original post on this string, and I don't actually see that you disagree that "just be yourself" is bad advice, only that those that decry it as bad advice are lacking social (and other?) skills; can't think outside the box, etc. Those people obviously need help, and more than advice to "just be yourself." It is bad advice for them. They need more, like the supposed expanded meaning from the OP. If everyone else already understands the supposed ex…
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/15 06:05 PM

Haha! Offended? I don't know where you get that idea, Internet Stranger. It's not a straw man. Someone is seeking advice. You give them a vague phrase and expect that they should know the deeper, expanded wisdom contained within that vague phrase. If they already knew all of that, they wouldn't be seeking advice, or, at best, it's just encouragement to continue doing what they're doing.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/15 05:29 PM
6

So the people that actually need advice are too inept to understand that it's not so simple, but who gives a crap about those losers? The rest are people who already know the supposed expanded advice contained in "just be yourself." Doesn't this mean it's not advice but just encouragement to do what they already know? It's shitty advice to those that need it, and no advice at all to those that don't. EDIT: I don't see how your twist on "man up" is at all relevant to your point or this topic.

I've never heard this expanded version of "just be yourself" until fairly recently, seemingly as a response to how ineffective the advice is. When I received this advice in my youth it was not offered with any additional detail other than "just be yourself and you'll find someone who loves you for you." While it certainly doesn't suggest being fake, it offers no actionable advice and might as well be 'don't change anything about yourself in an attempt to increase attraction.' "Just be yourself" …

Did I make it a big deal? It's in the title of your post. I chose to in this case to add some credibility to my advice. It had the opposite effect. Your ideas should stand on their own merit. (I agree with your post, for what it's worth.)

TRP would probably say at least two things: Guys are aiming to be among that 7.4% and TRP is a framework to get there. Marriage is one thing, fucking is another. What would these numbers look like for all the other types of interactions prior to marriage?

Why do you "fear" being not-married? What does marriage actually provide beyond an otherwise committed LTR? A marriage is, above all else, a financial contract. Does a business man feel 'fear' when a prospective business partner offers him an unreasonably risky (for his business) contract? Or does he recognize a bad agreement and refuse to sign?

What is the limiting factor on the population of peons? Without direct gene selection or breeding restrictions, that sort of evolution seems unlikely.

I was chatting with a 19-year old, pretty, outwardly reserved/conservative intern recently. Without any prompting on my part, she said that she and her girlfriends always joked that "your first marriage is for money, second marriage is for love." Awwww... isn't that so romantic?

Why are you using intentionally inflammatory language about people in your social circle? I don't see a problem calling something as you see it, but what do you have to gain here?

Stupid terminology aside, this isn't hard to do if you're reasonably attractive. When someone becomes newly single, there's often a period of dating several people simultaneously before (possibly) settling on one. Most people seem to accept this multi-partner phase early on in the dating process. It's simply a matter of never leaving that phase.

When I first stumbled on the reddit form of TRP, I saw it as it is often described - a set of tools to help craft the life you want. There seemed to be more emphasis on making sense of these social frameworks - both what was observable and theorizing on the underlying causes. As with any group, the larger it gets, the "signal to noise" ratio gets bad, and earnest discussion fades away. I actually had more hope for PPD, but earnest discussion is also pretty much gone here. Part of that is due to …

What are the ages surveyed? These charts are hard for me to believe for 'western' people in their 20's and 30's. Hell, even my free-loving hippy parents and their peers make this a tough sell. It's impossible of course, but I'd love to see a chart with a breakdown by relative (physical) attractiveness.

As someone who has no interest in marriage, children, or "saving civilization," I am thankful to feminism for allowing me access to more promiscuous women and (to a much lesser degree) less societal pressure to commit and provide. From an RP perspective, I'm "enjoying the decline." I'm sure I'd be less thankful if I still held to the fantasies of yesterday.

She Comes First is geared toward committed relationships Yet your guide is presumably written to help those who have trouble getting to that committed relationship stage. The Ethical Slut is geared toward the opposite I think many polyamorous people would disagree that such relationships aren't "committed." Again, the techniques may be outstanding, but if I had to advise young awkward men attempting to get TO that relationship, I would recommend showing her your desire, passion, and lust FIRST -…

Fair enough. I haven't read it, so I can't really agree or disagree. The book came up because we were discussing oral sex in general. They were the ones to bring up how they felt the concept (of the book) was a turn off. Not that it was suggested for technique, but they all recommended The Ethical Slut (though a few were quite unethical in their actual practice).

I haven't read it. They implied that they had. The general point seemed to be this: although the physical techniques may be good, the focus on her pleasure first was a mistake. They wanted to feel a man's raw desire, and a man so overcome with that lust is not (even able to be) focused on her orgasm before his. This insistence on her pleasure first pushed sex towards a performance and put too much pressure on the woman to uphold her part of the performance before the show could go on. As far as …

Most of red pill theory is based on social constructs from the agricultural age. Is it? I thought it was based on observation and evolutionary psychology. I'm talking about attraction and procreation here, not the social constructs (marriage) or ideals (love) that are attached after the fact. However, it's possible that (sufficiently enforced) arranged marriages on a broad and consistent scale could exert a kind of evolutionary pressure.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/15 11:37 PM
1

Perhaps my question was too vague. In the context of the OP, do you think the development of agriculture displaced or significantly altered attraction triggers within humans? Or, are all those old attraction triggers still more or less in place, and agriculture's effects are primarily seen in offspring survival (post old attraction based mating)?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/15 10:10 PM
2

Ah, more deflection. Do you think, when those birds mate, that they're suddenly more attracted to the new bill shape? Or are they still responding to their mate's song (or size or color) or whatever the primary attraction factors were before the new bill? Perhaps those old attraction triggers are still present, but the new bill shape allows the offspring to survive and multiply more easily, pushing the less effective billed birds out. You point out that evolution acts on population. There's no c…

"Rapid evolution" can occur, but are these very recent changes sufficient to create that kind of pressure? You reference a couple things that are only a few generations old. Are today's poor, strong brutes having fewer surviving offspring than the rich, weak geniuses?

Yes. Are you? You reference birth control, paternity tests, and jobs and an environment that are not as physically demanding. These are very recent factors in human evolution. Do you feel they negate or outweigh the impact of a much longer period of prehistory? Furthermore, do you think the new environment replaces other evolutionary responses, or instead impact other aspects of life? The modern brute may still have more offspring than the physically weak genius whose fewer offspring have a bett…

Does 10,000 years of a new environment outweigh or negate the previous 200,000?

2

"Trick" was the word the OP used, presumably in a negative sense. My point was that the "trick" of building attraction and the fantastic notion of some more ideal love may be rooted in the same evolutionary soil. Perhaps love is not any more grandiose than any other element that gave our species an advantage.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/15 06:58 PM
2

Maybe 'love' is also "falling for some evolutionary trick?" Perhaps this 'love' is what helped early humans gain an advantage (in mate and offspring support/protection) over non-lovers. Maybe this 'love' is like a drug, and you will forever be chasing that unattainable high of your first 'love,' sometimes telling yourself that a different, 'deeper' sort of love will be sufficient.
