Good point and well taken. The convenience of living close to work was worth the tradeoff in my judgement. My parents are about an hour with rush hour traffic while my place is a 15 minute drive in rush hour. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with continuing to live with your folks. I just don’t like the suggestion that living at home is the smart choice while getting your own place is likely financially irresponsible. You can be just as irresponsible living with your parents by not taking ad…

If a guy is in his 30’s, and still living at home (which has become pretty common, nowadays), he’s probably fucking loaded. Agreed, assuming he has decent financial discipline. The 25 year old with his own place... is the dickhead that’s likely living way above his means This is where I disagree. I’m 24 living in an apartment with rent that’s about 15% of my gross pay. Granted, that’s with a roommate so not technically “my own place”. I just found the independence from my folks to be worth the 1…

I'm not familiar with 100% of the details, but basically you become listed in a publicly searchable registry. Pretty sure you have to notify neighbors. Can't go within a certain radius of schools, daycares etc. Next to impossible to find a job because of the potential bad PR for whomever hires you

I do agree that the consistency should be there. If you’re going to tax X income, tax Y income too. I personally would just rather them not tax any income or less of it.

You and I have a very different idea of what the government should be doing then, brother. I think they should be taking as little of peoples money as possible. But I’m not trying to start a political flame war and I appreciate you sharing your view

I find this is the case for most guys though. Pretty much everyone I lift with does it for them. It makes them happy. Anecdotal story: I had an ex girlfriend tell me “You look good but I don’t want you to get too big.” I am by no means a swole guy so I’m not humble bragging here. But I legitimately laughed at her for thinking that I was lifting to get her approval or so she would think I was more attractive. She didn’t take that well.

I go to the gym because it’s cathartic and my preferred form of exercise. To make myself better. For me. Not once in my life have I hit the gym with the thought that I was doing this to attract a woman. If you live your entire life only motivated by what other people will think of the results, you won’t be happy when you look back

Go your own way. That’s different for everyone and I’m not here to tell any man how to GHOW. For me the church and Christianity was no different than a nagging girlfriend always trying to get me to do things their way and controlling how I should live. So yes, I can very much believe what happened to your post.

Really? You’re calling me out for false equivalence when you just said Trump supporters are equivalent to authoritarians? You claimed a political candidate you don’t like was authoritarian. Obama detractors said the EXACT same thing when he was in office. Those are equivalent arguments. Fuck out of here. Just because you don’t like a president’s policies doesn’t mean he wasn’t democratically elected. Just because you disagree with his supporters doesn’t make them your enemy. Our country would be…

My man I’m no Trump supporter, but this is a total non sequitur. Just because he’s a shit president doesn’t make his supporters authoritarian considering he was elected. You sound like assholes that said Obama was going to “take over the country” and “run for a third term”.

That’s insane!! Why run your health into the ground for a giant check that you never get to spend how you want? One thing that’s especially brutal about these really high salaries is the really high taxes. If you live somewhere like NYC that puts high city taxes on top of already high fed and state taxes, you’re probably losing 50-55% off the top.

You should check out this article. It’s a couple in New York who feel like they’re struggling. On $500,000 a year. People manage to do some crazy shit

INAL so I’m not sure, but wouldn’t that be double jeopardy? If she’s already been convicted in criminal court, I don’t think she can be retried in civil court

I have lots of passions and hobbies but I’m of the opinion that man is a social creature. Sometimes even though you do have things you’re passionate about, you just want to shoot the shit with some buddies and waste a few hours. If you’re totally uncomfortable being alone at any time then I agree with you. I just meant on an occasion when you’re actively seeking a social situation, not when you as a person can’t entertain yourself or stand to be alone.

It’s loneliness on a night you want company (of your bros or otherwise). But having the option to choose is the real freedom.

Old article, but the 2010 Men’s World Cup had revenues of almost ~$4bn. Players got ~$350mn, 9% of revenues. 2016 Women’s World Cup had revenues of ~$73mn. Players got ~$10mn, 13% of revenues. Not exactly sure how you expect to receive the same dollar amount of compensation when the market has decided your performance is 1.85% as interesting as the men’s. But okay.

Weightlifting and exercise in general will help you: -fight depression symptoms -reduce age related bone loss -improve proprioception and coordination -lower your risk of diabetes -increase heart health -reduce back pain -increase mental fortitude -increase self discipline -sleep better -lots more that I won’t list here All of these things carry over vastly into other areas of life beyond chasing women. Better stress management and self discipline? Hello promotion. Better long term health? Hello…

I wouldn’t call spending money on what brings you true joy a weakness. You are right, though. The kind of people who are only impressed by what you have rather than who you are should be ignored. Enjoy gyow, brother.

Had this exact discussion with a (former) female associate. Couldn’t grasp the logic (shocker, I know) behind how FGM and forced circumcision are exactly the same. Nor how my opposition to infant circumcision is based on the same ideas as her pro abortion, “my body my choice” stance

“The Little Book of Common Sense Investing” by John Bogle. Founder of Vanguard and the inventor of the index fund so a fairly sharp man. Not such a little book, though. Around 300 pages IIRC

Accounting major here - accounting will teach you 0 about your personal finances. Plenty of books at the library for that. Definitely not a bad career option if you’re looking for an office job, as it’s pretty typical to hit 6 figures by 30. But you can probably do it sooner by starting your own business in a trade. If you like working with your hands, I’d recommend doing a double associates in a trade and business. There’s gonna be a major shortage of those soon

Jeff owned 16% before the divorce, so she owns/will own 4%. I don’t think that meets the official definition of control but it definitely gives her some say in things. I think the main issue is the extent of her knowledge of non public information relating to Amazon.

Depends on whether or not she’s a registered insider. Given that her shares were “acquired” directly from Jeff’s shares, my guess is they are still considered restricted securities which means they fall under Rule 144. If you’re interested in all the restrictions: SEC Rule 144 TLDR: you’re probably right

FWIW, I’d recommend focusing on hobbies and school. I spent the better part of high school and all of college in a relationship (same girl). Now that I’m single and GMOW, I realize how much time and opportunity I wasted chasing girls when I could’ve been wringing every glorious second out of having most of life’s responsibilities handled by my parents. High school and college truly are some of the best years of your life, even if they don’t feel like it now. I realize I’m fortunate to feel this …

In fact, that’s how all of this works. 3rd wave feminists make the exact same argument you’re making right now. “We’re not talking about all men, just some men.” Well it they’ve clearly said this, that makes it okay, right? Obviously not. When a comment is made about a class, people generally infer that to be your attitude about “literally everyone within that class”. To use your words. This principle is the same reason you specifically called out the “men are trash” movement. Because an opinion…

See that post made you sound like a reasonable person I can respect and agree with. But your posts above generalizing half of the human population into what is is essentially psychopathy make me think otherwise. Just because society’s pendulum has swung too far in one direction doesn’t mean every single individual in a particular group is out to get you. Some of them? Clearly from OPs story. Not denying or defending that. But it doesn’t help advance MRA when you put a huge swath of people on bla…
