Good comment. Extra +1 for not “making it work” forever. That persistent unhealthy environment will damage kids as much if not more than a nasty divorce/poor coparenting. Your kids are young enough that it will just be a blip. They deserve a happy dad (and mom, but if you guys can’t stay together, someone has to make the call)

The good old fashioned “nesting” arrangement might work if they don’t want to be around each other and also have a place to stay. I had to do this kind of and it was dumb, but means to an end I guess.

Been there done that have the t shirt. Maybe try to make nice and ask her to bring kids back right away while you sort it out....but if she doesn’t, then you better make moves ASAP man. If you love your kids like it sounds like you do, you will be in a world of hurt if you do not act soon

Do everything that everyone else in this thread has said. This community will help. Find an outlet to stay even keeled (lift, golf, whatever floats your boat). Make your time with the kids FUN for them and for you. They want a happy dad and they’ll enjoy doing things if you enjoy doing them.

I hear you bro. It sounds like you have it down. I am not trying to be a downer or pushy or anything, but I wish someone would have said this to me before I struck out on my path. That person isn’t going to disappear. They are going to be at weddings, college move ins, whatever other various life events will be open to both parents. The non aggressive stance is great and certainly the first step, but for the kids (and honestly maybe not so much at your kids age) the make-nice in public, when req…

If the kids are over 18 I’m pretty sure you don’t need to talk to her? That wouldn’t be ideal for the kids obviously so I’m not advocating that, but if she’s harassing you (and multiple unwanted contacts, particularly at work, might qualify?) you might have legal recourse. I am in a similar situation and the OFW app has been a godsend but I doubt you’d use that. Unfortunately, she is not going to become rationale overnight. Best course of action is to control what you can control and don’t let h…

Well personally I would be shocked if I ever get married again. Maybe when I’m 80 if I’ve been with the same person for 40 years hahaha. I just think life and people change too much. Maybe I’m a victim of the throw away culture. For my kids though...I want them to be happy and healthy. But I don’t think I’ll be reinforcing the “get married and be a stay at home mom” or similar themes. If anything, I think I want to make a concerted effort to show them that you don’t HAVE to have married parents …

I’m curious if you have kids? I have 2 daughters and honestly I kind of have a similar outlook at the moment. If you do have kids do you share your thoughts on marriage with them? I’m not taking a position one way or the other, genuinely something I’m thinking on hard recently

Thanks man. 1/2 are a non issue. These kids are my world. #3 is the problem. I gave her the house, left most of my shit behind, didn’t take a bunch of her money that I could have, and generally do exactly what you’re suggesting. the problem is it is all about time with the kids. She wants to have them during the day (she has a full time job, but is in sales and has no office) all the time. If I give her that, she’ll use it against me in the future guaranteed, and then I’m on the outs with the ki…

Pretty sure we are the same person. I am in the middle of psych evals heading towards trial for 5050. Watching her FaceTime the kids and spew the subtle digs to them and how she is handling all of this is unreal. I had to see her today too to get some furniture and it was painful. Horrible coparenting counseling session on Friday. And I have to let my 4yo talk to this random psych tomorrow. I have patches where Im great and patches where I really struggle. She can’t be me and I’m not afraid of h…
