If the only context sexual offences come up in is how female victims are affected, we have every right to mention male victims too.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/09/24 12:41 AM
6

Postmodernist and relativistic thinking too. Anthropologists call attempts at stopping this, "neocolonial hegemonic Western cultural imperialism", rooted in, "patriarchy, white supremacy, and cisheteronormativity".
/r/MensRights17/08/24 01:29 PM

Most are like that, but I’m glad for the minority that isn't, who also tend not to be anti-male like most feminists are.

And even that was removed for being anti-trans, not being anti-male.

Reddit doesn’t have any principles. They let communities like r/jailbait stay up for years. Don’t expect them to change for the better. The administration is rotten to the core.

OP, it’s difficult for us to leave this post up in its current form because Reddit could regard it as community interference. You should write a post precisely detailing your experience while avoiding links and unnecessary screenshots and post it to r/MensRights.

We don’t know anything about the person who made the comment. They could be a feminist, someone trying to make feminists look bad, or a troll who doesn’t believe a word of what they say. What I want to draw attention to is Reddit’s response.

I am bi, not white, and male only in a biological sense and don’t support gender norms or the idea that anyone needs to be masculine or feminine, but they’d still hate me for going against the grain. They only prop up those who blindly support their views.

Not to mention, a man lost his wife and two of his three daughters. He will have to shoulder much more grief than the vast majority of people using this as an opportunity to blame men collectively.

I'm only highlighting what I think is flawed reasoning. Should people forsake upward social mobility, which also empowers us to make more of an impact? It's dumb to single people out for being rich or attractive - being classist or vain is a different matter.

As a moderator myself, the people I butt heads with most severely tend to be moderators elsewhere, not regular users. I treat this as only one aspect of my life and use other means (IRL too) as a way of contributing, and I understand that it's a position which warrants constant scrutiny. It's evident to me that most moderators don't feel the same way.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/07/24 01:35 PM

LOL. This is the main reason so many desperate men are turning to the right, falling for the sweet lies spun by their grifters. Don't complain when you encourage it like this yourself.

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/07/24 01:08 PM

They're probably the kind of mods who believe racism against "oppressor" groups is a good thing. It's the same logic they use for sexism against men.

r/comics is very feminist in the female supremacist sense.

Then we should explicitly say that we’re referring to people who abuse their power - which is something lots of people who aren't upper-class do.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/07/24 05:42 AM

Why should attractive men be sympathised with but not rich men? I don’t understand the logic in trying to use relatively superficial traits as a proxy for someone’s worth.

I normally find myself at odds with what you say, but I agree wholeheartedly this time.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/07/24 07:31 AM
1

I’m sure many of them don't like men, but our case against them is stronger if our critiques apply to more of them. Virtually all of them care less about men than women. “Hate” is more subjective and harder to qualify and quantify in an objective manner, and research like in the post shows how this can be exploited.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/07/24 03:24 AM
1

We did have something like that, but it was removed for being enforced too subjectively. The rules are overdue for a rewrite anyway.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/07/24 01:10 AM

It belongs in r/everydaymisandry. If we allowed too many of those posts, they’d dominate the subreddit as there are innumerable examples of such content.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/07/24 01:04 AM

Rather than characterising most feminists as misandrists, it’d probably be more accurate to say they simply don't care (as much) about men.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/07/24 01:00 AM
2

It's for exposing them. We need to make them look worse and ourselves better.

/r/EverydayMisandry03/07/24 03:18 PM

Everyone is disadvantaged in some way. I don’t like the word “oppressed” because it’s loaded and makes people think you’re exaggerating or being hyperbolic. Men and women alike definitely face real issues - some of which overlap greatly, some of which are strongly influenced by gender (or other factors which coalesce in a manner that makes gender the ostensible determinant). Instead of questioning whether women have problems or the extent to which they’re relevant, we should be exposing how femi…

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/07/24 11:49 PM

Most modern left-wingers are left-wingers when it comes to themselves (and when they can virtue-signal) and right-wingers when it comes to others.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/07/24 10:04 PM
4

And our individuality should be emphasised over aspects of our identity we can't control.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/07/24 12:21 PM

Rejecting the imposition of an identity is not the same as denying that nature has a role.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/07/24 07:35 AM
25

What other such groups have The New York Times covered recently? I wouldn’t want the focus of a “men’s group” to centre around convicts. Cater to more men, or call it a (male) convicts’ group. I also reject the idea that we need any kind of masculinity or femininity.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/07/24 07:52 PM
8

What feminists don't want to acknowledge is that two can play their game. They can be misandrist all they want, but in turn, they can't expect others to take them seriously when they complain about misogyny. I put everyone down because I'm a cynical bastard, and I also don't want people to tread on eggshells around me.

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/06/24 10:12 PM

Well, unfortunately, most people politicise “help” of any kind, not just for men. Everything is political, and we can’t take any seemingly safe assumptions for granted.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/06/24 11:04 PM

Many things are inherently political. When people complain about something being political, it's because they disagree with the politics.

Speaking for myself, “left-wing” holds valuable connotations of the ideals of equality, liberty, and progress as I conceive them. I want to be unambiguous in my rejection of hierarchy and tradition. Part of why conservatives have been so successful in co-opting the MRM is that many leftists today just want to invert the hierarchies/oppressor-oppressed dichotomies of the past, and even if they don’t consciously think this, they tend to support special treatment and making exceptions in a way that…

Yes, because I think conservatism is farcically moronic. I also don't like most leftists because I find them too authoritarian, collectivist, and identitarian, though they aren't unique in that.

This subreddit has always been strictly moderated to ensure certain standards for quality are met. Manual approval is not something new. Posts before mid-2023 were all auto-removed by AutoModerator, and users had to leave a comment explaining the purpose of their post. We only changed how this was implemented, and the comments are no longer necessary.

I'd argue that it's good for everyone if these groups self-segregate from the rest of us. Make them enforce it as rigidly as possible - in this case, if help is required for anything in the complex, even from the emergency services, the workers must be female.

If I'm understanding correctly, you're extending my reasoning further by saying that TERFs are more misandrist/more likely to be misandrist than other radical feminists? I see your point. However, we are all responsible for the labels we choose, and radical feminists only have themselves to blame if they complain about being seen as misandrists unfairly.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/06/24 05:42 AM
3

From what I've seen, radical feminists are more likely to be misandrist than other feminists. Some of them use the label as a euphemism for misandry.

I didn't say anything about excluding trans people. I chose the first option in the poll. What I’m saying is that it’s important to acknowledge we face a lot of resistance from trans people too.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/06/24 01:06 AM

And radical feminism doesn't have the same issues with misandry?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/06/24 04:40 PM

How is it “much worse”? It’s like Nazi factions arguing over whether Jews who disavow their genes also deserve extermination.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/06/24 05:37 AM
35

As someone who’s in it for egalitarianism and not male advocacy specifically, I have no problem with advocating for trans people. However, it’s worth noting that the queer movement has practically been subsumed by feminism, so they don’t really like men. Some of the most uber-sexist takes I see in feminist groups are from trans people, things which TERFs would agree with. Most feminists’ objection to TERF ideology is the “trans-exclusionary” part, not “radical feminism”.

Some people use statistics about certain races being more likely to commit crimes to imply they have an inherent predisposition for such behaviour, while dismissing contributing factors, and argue in favour of prejudice and exclusion as a response. It’s an ecological fallacy. I disagree with using religion to make the argument here because religions are ideologies, ideologies are sets of beliefs, and people have the freedom to choose their beliefs; ergo, you can judge someone for their religion …

Men are more likely to be victims of most violent crimes. Sexual offences are an outlier, and women are seen as greater victims of these. Combined with the fact that sexual offences are considered worse than other violent crimes, this leads to women receiving more sympathy overall.

Unlike what the internet would have you believe, mods do have a life outside of moderation and don't spend all their time on it. The inactive mods are free to pick the pace up when they return.
