Stupid question, but is it acceptable to take 5-10 minutes to "freshen up" in the bathroom first?

Thank you. Working on it!

Compromises in human relationships are necessary. Compromises in your relationship with God are gravely sinful. I would greatly caution you against using this relationship to break your promises to God. Nothing good can come of that. You are young enough to have plenty of time to find someone who will share your values and accept you and your past. Do not endanger the rest of your earthly or eternal life.

I am in the same boat. I can't expect all men to accept that or accept me, but I only need one man to. I am a revert to the Catholic Church, so following God's law despite my past failings is important to me. May God guide you and your future husband.

Do you have advice on what to listen to from him? I feel like all I've gained from what I've watched has been feeling like I'm a 2 who doesn't deserve a good man or husband.

Do steamers work just as well? I haven't used an actual iron since high school but was surprised at how effective steamers seem to be nowadays.

My mother was an excellent cook and baker, but literally all my knowledge about cooking and cleaning comes from the Internet. I recently told my mother that I want to learn her recipes, so we just started cooking together. Of course, I'm 32 and both boomer parents say I should be focusing on a career. Go figure. They did us a disservice, but so did their parents in focusing on materialism after the Great Depression. It's up to us now to fill in the gaps as best we can. Godspeed!

Thanks for your comment. I go back and forth on this as I do want to be out in the world, but I worry that I'm doing so in all the wrong ways. If God still plans for me to have a husband, I don't know what his ideas will be, so I have to try to make up my own now while imagining what might turn him off from choosing me. I also struggle with knowing the difference between control and abuse. I thought that my role was to submit to him and his authority. If he had never beaten me, I probably wouldn…

I appreciate the honesty. I am trying to weigh the fact that men are visual creatures with being the right kind of woman. I want to be able to stand out, but in the right way, and fulfill the man's desires. Maybe good girls don't meet men at the gym but at church. I'm not sure what my gut says as I can deeply identify with a lot of different perspectives while also thinking that they're all dumb. I'm going to be working on decision making and establishing boundaries in the coming months and hope…

If God graces me with a husband, I'd like the household (him, me, and our children) to be social media-free.

Great comment! I appreciate your honesty and advice. I'm definitely open to what my future looks like and I do want to be able to grow with my future husband and accept his goals and desires as my own, provided we share the same core values. I'm not sure how to find that man, but in the meantime I know I need to focus on my own spiritual healing and growth.

Personally I'd rather have the latter as I want true love and loyalty and I want to be able to make a good man happy. Living a simple but stable and fulfilling life sounds like heaven to me. That said, I'd also love to be a stay at home mom and be able to homeschool my children. Possibly I can find a way to earn income working from home to provide that future for our children.

What do you suggest for women who gave into that peer pressure in their youth and have promiscuous pasts? Should they lower their expectations as to earning potential, looks, sexual prowess, perhaps accept a religious but non-legal marriage? Some combination of all of the above? I know it's important for a man to feel that he is prized above all other men that a woman has known if they are to become life partners, so I think that settling or lowering expectations too much can do damage to both p…

Thank you. It sounds like you were in it for some time so be gentle with yourself during the healing process and don't rush it. Feel free to DM me if you ever need someone to talk to.

I'm in the exact same boat but a lot older, so not sure how much hope there is left for me. You are still young and have time to heal and grow. I was completely honest with my ex because I thought the truth mattered and I wanted him to trust me, but it only made him hate me and torture me for a long time. My only consolation and advice to you is that through God, all things are possible. Don't lose hope, focus on healing and moving forward. Take your time and don't rush into anything out of desp…
