Amounts should be capped no matter how much the father makes. It takes a certain amount to raise a child. Even if we assume a well-off father will provide better stuff, there needs to be a limit to this. You can't "outrun" child support by increasing your income, because they'll just raise it on you. The philosophy seems to be that if the payment isn't causing a hardship, then you aren't paying enough.

I wish more men truly understood how detrimental fatherhood really is to one's personal autonomy and well-being. If you value your freedom, don't reproduce.
