I think its saying to let your kids learn something difficult and mildy dangerous on their own. This allows them to build independence, manage risk, and learn something difficult on their own. Basically, don't helicopter parent.

Hey man, i don't want to offer straight up medical advice, but maybe the chemicals in your head are off. That isn't your fault. I repeat: not your fault. I started taking St. John's Wort over the summer. Its an over the counter serotonin booster. IF you aren't on any antidepressants, i say give it a try. It certainly brings my mood up, and quickly. My mother uses it too, so I'm pretty confident its safe for most people. Chemical imbalances aren't your fault man.
