It's only awkward if you make it/let it be awkward. Not everyone is made for everyone, and if a girl isn't interested, so what ? Don't let it be awkward, you're just not her type. Bantering is teasing in a way that doesn't have any insulting in it. It's meant to be fun and playful. Basically yes. If one wrote it down and actually reached out, she's the one that's interested. Her friend might be, but that's less likely. In my own experience, the vadt majority of girls asking this are the ones who are insecure / dishonest about their own numbers. Often if I answered it leads to friction if my answer isn't in the ballpark of the fictional number they were planning to tell me.
