I'm gonna go ahead and say that you should do what you want and not ask the internet for advice on a very personal topic (Not personal emotionally, personal in the way that it should be your decision.).

He is in the wrong for messaging someone something that was a little rude and that he probably knew would anger the other person. He does not deserve being stalked and accused of harassment, for such a small thing, though.

For all we know, people who watched SNL will come here and see that we aren't as bad as that skit portrayed us, and that there are major issues in the way that society perceives men and the way that the courts and our governments treat men.

Unfortunately, that's true that white people have been the cause of many atrocities and problems of the past. The European empires, specifically, have done terrible things (Even more specifically, the British, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Italian empires). It's very saddening that people often look at the past and blame people who were never involved in those events directly who are alive now. I honestly think that we shouldn't blame white people or Europeans as a whole, but rather the ba…

Your brother has a point. Men are the majority of rapists, but I don't think citing a few irresponsible and bigoted teenagers from twitter is a reliable source when trying to say that blaming the victim is as common as many people think it is. Other than that, I think it was an interesting read. I am happy that your brother has the motivation to publish his opinion in your local paper, hopefully it will lead to something great!

Since when did they spout opposing viewpoints? It seemed to me the they were simply supporting an anti-circumcision viewpoint and then were trying to go off and mind their own business. I realize that you are right about expecting some resistance when it comes to opposing opinions, but when did she provide any opposing opinions? It seems to me that they encountered a little too much of resistance, especially when they were stating their somewhat naïve opinion that feminists are fighting for equa…

What an incredible person. Not many people have the good faith or energy to stay by their ex when he or she is accused of rape, or investigate almost single-handedly whether the charges are correct, and prove them wrong. Most people, I suspect, would turn their back on the accused rapist and not even bother defending them, especially if that person was the man you were going to get a divorce with in 6 days.

I have no idea; I have no experience (absolutely none, I haven't even been on jury duty yet) in the judicial system in the U.S. or the U.K. or anywhere else, so I wouldn't say that any punishment I'd recommend would be in any way recommendable unless if by some stroke of luck I actually make a decent estimate of what the punishment would be. All I know, is if I were that kid's parents, I would be livid with her, and I'd probably ground her for a few months and take away her phone/laptop/whatever…

Sorry, I phrased my comment weirdly, I was saying 'I don't know' about what you said about you kind of doubting that these ('these' being anti-circ advocates) people are advocating for the end of circumcision because of children's rights. I was then trying to provide my opinion that the main point of most anti-circ arguments is that its refusing to give the child a say in whether or not they want to be mutilated.

To the past few people to comment, I don't think peregr1ne came here to be lectured o.o She or he probably came here to share her opinion, not read walls of text that aim at converting him/her to another movement. I completely disagree with feminism's way of fighting for social and political equality of the sexes, but isn't it better for peregr1ne to find these things out on his/her own (with a little push in our direction, maybe?) and choose what he/she wants to do? I don't think he/she was loo…

I don't know about the children's rights part, I'd say the most commonly given reason to not circumcise your kid (supplied by anti-circ supporters) is that circumcising your child is giving your child an irreversible 'surgery' without anesthetic that is a violation of that person's right to choose what happens to their genitalia.

Also, the studies saying that these men that are being circumcised in Africa as a way to prevent HIV usually say something along the lines of 'these men do not experience a decrease in sexual pleasure'. Usually, they only come back to check on the men who are circumcised after a year or two and ask if they've lost an pleasure during sex. Most say no because kernilization of the glans (as far as I remember) takes about four years so of course it will feel mostly the same.

I think it's because there isn't really any other reason to circumsise somebody (besides religious reasons, and the foreskin being too tight or other health problems) that somewhat makes sense. Of course, the argument that circumcising your kids because it might be easier to clean is also complete bogus.

It is very disappointing that this person thought it was okay to fabricate a serious crime so she could justify such a small mistake like missing a bus, but I'm more than happy that she didn't blame someone of trying to rape her (such as a fellow student, a neighbor or teacher etc.), otherwise, there was a high possibility that the police would have arrested the 'rapist' and shut him or her in prison, despite the lack of evidence. I hope she doesn't do it again. I hope she is faced with some sor…

I am new to posting links (I'm usually a lurker, not a poster), so I'm not entirely sure how to add descriptions when using a link post. Here is the reason why I'm posting this: I am interested in finding out what you think. Would you say that based on the evidence provided in this article is convincing or would you say that it is not enough information? I am trying to formulate an opinion on this topic and before I can, so an outsider's input would be very interesting at this point.

I honestly doubt that every women is called a slut and whore or told to suck someone's dick every single day of their lives. To be truthful again, this was an eye opener. I have never experienced being cat-called or seriously sexually assaulted, nor have I ever been harassed by random homeless people (well, at least not where they called me rude things). Yes, in my opinion, it's very unfortunate that having a child seems to be becoming solely the decision of the mother. If the father leaves the mother to raise the child on her own, he is seen as a deadbeat, but if he stays and raises the child, he will likely have to drop out of any sort of school he was attending, if he is young, and take on extra jobs to prepare for the huge cost of having a child and raising. I don't think it would be an easy decision at all to choose between the two options,…

Oh! I forgot something! Try to include the extended abbreviation, or whatever it's called, to remind readers what that abbreviation stands for. For example, instead of M.R.A., write out Men's Right's Activist/Activism, to clarify to the reader what that abbreviation means. Also remember to put periods/.'s in between each letter (instead of MRA, M.R.A.)

I found it very interesting to read (I read the entire thing). I highly recommend you refrain from using all caps to emphasize your opinion(MUTILATION, instead of mutilation), and I highly recommend you don't use multiple exclamation or question marks to create a sense of emotion (mutilation!!!!?!?!?!?!!!!). Please also remove any word that could be interpreted by the mass populace as a swear or curse (Shit, motherfuckers, hell, bitch etc.). Also, I know it is your first draft but do an extensiv…

The key word is 'tricked'. If he had rationally discussed with her about getting an abortion, instead of slipping her an abortion pill disguised as an anti-biotic, it would have been totally fine if they had decided to keep the baby or not if it was BOTH of their decision to take that pill. In my opinion, it is wrong and dangerous to replace medication, especially when it involves something like abortion. If he had changed her medication from nyquil to dayquil, it wouldn't have mattered, she mig…

You're completely right about matriarchal societies existing. There were hundreds of matriarchal societies in the African continent, the Sitones (a Germanic people from around the time of the Roman empire) was a matriarchal society, so is the Mosou culture near Tibet, the Cretan culture on the Greek island of Crete was considered to be matriarchal, and many more.

I generally dislike feminism because of their insistance that 'feminism covers men's issues, too!', and then when I look at their blogs and documentaries and I see their protests, very rarely does one article, minute of a video, or protest sign ever exist. When, in the rare cases that they do agree that men have problems too, they (feminists) almost always blame the 'patriarchy' or other men for those problems. Most feminists also exaggerate data or bend it to their will. Although MRAs also do t…

In my opinion, yes, to a certain extent. To society and to potential spouses, men have to be fit to an almost extreme point (to the point where you have to go to the gym 3-4 times a week, 2-3 hours a day lifting weights so you can atleast keep your body in that shape). Why do you think one of the number one qualities females (especially teenagers) look for is being very muscled, even though that person might not be developed enough to work out to that extent. This is definitely a personal experi…

I'd say that before the 1960s-80s, the vast majority of all people who had an education were men. Most boys and girls never learned how to read or write, as they were needed out in the field or stuck in factories (In the early 20th and throughout the 19th centuries) to earn money to even EAT that day, so often there was not enough money to send kids off to school. Not to mention that public schools in the U.S. didn't commonly exist until Horace Mann and Henry Barnard helped reform the schooling …

The sexes are not equal, socially or biologically, and likely never will be without millions and millions of years of evolution and years and years of radical change in the way that our societies work. So if I identify as male, it's okay to call me a bigoted pervert? And is it okay to call someone who identifies as female a crazy slut? In my opinion, and I'm sure, the VAST majority of people in both (legitimate) women's and men's rights movement's opinions, you're ideas about sexism are false, r…

Tell her about how the VAST majority of male service members didn't sign up for the military to kill people; they signed up to protect their freedoms and family, and to generally defend the innocent and powerless. Men are not warmongers; saying that all men are warmongering fools is like saying that all women are serial killers because of a serial killer 100 years ago. It's simply just stupidity

I had always thought that feminist statistics were somewhat or VERY untrue (like 99% of land owners being women). I went on youtube and found MrRepzion's youtube channel. I hunted through his videos and I found something about a woman who had been charged with the same crime as a man and had been given a less-terrible sentence and I ended up finding my self on Girlwriteswhat's youtube channel. Theres also that guy (Earl Silverman) who set up a shelter for abused men, but feminists lobbied for it to go out of business and after the government refused to give him any financial support, he had to sell the shelter and committed suicide shortly after.

Wow so just cause he might have had an erection during the rape, that means he wanted it? If a girl that age was raped by an 18 yr old male, and she was turned on, nobody would think that she 'wanted it'! So much for any sort of reason in the comments. And just cause at that age you might have been a walking erection, doesn't mean that you want to be violated and raped.

I guess it all depends where you live. In places like where I live, it's perfectly fine for a guy to wear purple or pink but it has to be sportswear or tennis shoes. In other places, i bet its fine to wear anything you want and not be seen as weird or being gay for simply wearing a bright color. In other places though, people are told that if they wear pink or if they want to straighten their hair they're 'not real' men.

My class and I were taught in science one year that males had an erection every two minutes and that males thought about sex every 30 seconds as teens. This is bullshit, it's like saying females are turned on every 30 seconds, it isn't true in the normal, everyday sort of moment. And I doubt anyone here has an erection spontaneously every 2 minutes. This goes to show that males are viewed as sexual beings, thinking about sex constantly, and always planning their next move on an innocent girl. Te…

Also, the same happened to me in middleschool. I had figured out that I am gay the year before. I was staring at this really amazing necklace my french teacher was wearing and she caught me and glared at me before re-adjusting her position and buttoning up her shirt. I know that she is still affected by this because from then on she never wore a low cut shirt, and she always wore her buttons at a normal level. I'd say that thats largely correct, but much like men who exercise or put on a suit to 'look better for the ladies', a lot of girls and women put on makeup or exercise in the hopes to 'look better for the guys'. I would absolutely love it if males and females both wanted solely to look better for themselves, but to be frank, that isn't happening anytime soon, and the opposite sex and same sex both think that (depending on the person, of course) makeup makes some women look more attractive, and t…

maybe he has feelings of shame/guilt and he doesn't think anyone will listen? or maybe he doesn't have any alive family, or his abuser is not letting him leave the house so he has no friends. Idk, we'd have to find out from him.

shame and self-blame are common symptoms with abused/battered spouses and children, making him feel MORE shame is going to make him feel worse and is NOT going to help him or anyone else. Next time, maybe you should be kinder and not assume that it is his fault that he has been put into a VERY difficult situation that regardless of gender, is VERY difficult to get out of. What is stopping him is somewhat likely love for that person (even in the face of unhappiness and violence, you can still lov…

This is sure as heck not sexist, although I do agree that there possibly would be a double standard if the post was about women. For example, if a video made by a young woman described what kind of a male she would rather date, she would be given praise or people would see nothing with her video (which there isn't.), but as soon as a guy does the same thing but about the kind of female he would rather date, he is suddenly experiencing a tsunami of hate and is treated like a creepy jerk.
