My wife cheated on and left me before when I was sick. I don’t know of any man who has done the same with a sick wife. But at least two male friends of mine have experienced the same. The problem with studies comparing gender versus gender on any specific issue is that is largely survey based. Women are FAR more likely to be less than truthful about bad behavior such as this or infidelity. That skews the results against men every time because men are more likely to answer surveys honestly.

I think society at large is more damning of gay or bi men than they are of gay or bi women. Practically speaking, one major factor that contributes to this stigma was (and still is) HIV. MSM still is the number one vector of hiv transmission. That doesn’t make it right, but it is true that gay men pose more of a public health risk that gay women as many STDs are more easily transmissible with penetrative anal sex than other forms of sex.

Abortion is hardly semantics once a pregnancy is confirmed. Once there is a heartbeat, there is technically life—it is no longer ‘potential’.
/r/MensRights30/11/23 09:41 PM
-3

Even if you whittle it down to just the fact that a pregnancy existed that OP wanted and his ex didn’t, it doesn’t really change my basic viewpoint— —his ex had the right to have an abortion, regardless of her reasoning (unless she did it illegally) —OP has every right to be upset as the unborn child he wanted is dead
/r/MensRights30/11/23 09:36 PM
2

There’s definitely an imbalance in the ability to terminate parental responsibilities as it pertains to men vs women. Abortion is also a medical issue though, as pregnancy carries risk to women’s physical health. So it’s not exactly comparing apples and oranges. Strictly from a statistical perspective, allowing such a thing as you describe would probably exacerbate the single mother and absentee father issues that are prevalent among certain groups. It’s just not a practical solution to correct …
/r/MensRights30/11/23 09:27 PM
-1

But it happened. She did get pregnant. And abortion here affects both parties. OP has every right to be upset that his ex gave such a selfish reason to abort, even if it was one among many.
/r/MensRights30/11/23 08:47 PM
6

It IS an absurdly selfish reason to abort—that she has every right to make, even if the reason sucks. I think having the right to abort is a fundamental right women should have. That being said, women like this are the ones that make the pro lifers go nuts and push harder for outright bans. Rights do include responsibility to exercise them responsibly.

So her argument is that men have proven themselves more flexible to businesses and therefore more valuable employees—which makes any wage gap based on merit, not sexism. Her solution is for businesses to stop punishing women needing flexibility? So in other words pay Jane the same amount per hour as John even though John is consistently available for all shifts while Jane constantly needs the flexibility to work when SHE wants? As much as it sucks, business needs come first in capitalism. Employ…

It may sound cliche, but not all women are bad. You’re just going to have to put the work in to find someone good—and good for you specifically. Protect yourself (prenup, trusts, etc.) and research family law in your state before making kids. The choice is be a bachelor or take the plunge.

My entire point is that it starts with hate and progresses to violence. Again, ask the Jews. Given we are in the middle of this culture war, we can’t compare it to the past because it hasn’t reached its climax yet. And no I wouldn’t be surprised if radical feminists do start resorting to violence.

Secondly, I was only comparing the word usages and was not comparing our plight to those of Africans Americans during Jim Crow. That is what we call cherry picked examples. Here’s an ACTUAL study showing men on average get longer sentences for just about any crime. https://repository.law.umich.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1164&context=law_econ_current As for shelters, I specifically talked about HOMELESS shelters because men make up somewhere around 75% of the homeless population. There are simply not enough homeless shelters that take men. Edit: here’s another straight from government: https://www.ussc.gov/sites/defa…

How is society so misogynistic when women are given more rights, protections, and benefits with every passing year? Women only loans, women only homeless shelters, gender quotas, lesser prison sentences, more mental health services, ….. I could go on and on. There are very few homemakers left in newer generations because a single earner household has become a less and less viable option. Men and women are splitting household and familial responsibilities more than ever both because elf social ch…

You are only 1 woman. Out of 4 billion. You can’t speak for the entirety of womankind either. The evidence supporting my claim is stronger. Women are going to higher education at ever increasing rates, have careers at levels never before seen in history, and indignance towards the alleged patriarchy is at an all time high. In the west anyway. Just because you grew up in a traditional household doesn’t mean the whole world was the same way.

I have a sister and three close female cousins. None of them were taught to be subservient. Just the opposite in fact. Modern women were not brought up the same way as their foremothers were.
/r/MensRights15/10/23 12:55 AM
1

If that were the case unilaterally, why is modern feminism so pervasive? For the movement to have gained this much steam, the way women are raised as children has undoubtedly changed as well. They haven’t been raised to be ‘subservient’ in the west for decades.

That’s 8 partners throughout their entire lives, which mean someone in their early adulthood should be well below that number. A traditional conservative society demands abstinence until marriage. Promiscuity isn’t a moral issue. It’s shameful because of its negative effects on society and public health. Normalizing destructive behaviors like promiscuity shouldn’t be the goal of any society. The average number of sex partners among men and women throughout their entire lives is around 8. When a person greatly exceeds that number in their early adulthood, it’s only natural that potential mates will find such a person undesirable.

Promiscuity is shameful whether you’re a man or a woman. And it’s an indicator of potential future infidelity. I have seen this in my personal life several times. I find it amusing that feminists are so hung up about damning anyone who dares to say body count matters—in doing so they prove that they are themselves ashamed of being promiscuous but lack the maturity to correct their poor behavior.

Paternity tests that aren’t court ordered are outright illegal in France IIRC. Supposedly the real ‘total’ percent of paternity fraud hovers around 3% or so. Which is still like 78 MILLION children worldwide.

It can be seen that way. But it’s entirely possible the writers simply wanted a ridiculous personified metaphor for pubescent infatuation. But I get your position—we are expected to sacrifice to our detriment and seeing it in media doesn’t help.
/r/MensRights28/07/23 02:43 AM
-25

I see your point, but it’s important to realize it’s a children’s film about a pubescent girl who is just starting to see boys in a romantic light. The expectations are meant to be viewed as unrealistic, especially given the nature of her mind being represented entirely by exaggerated and personified metaphors. At least back then the misandry wasn’t inherently blatant like it is in current Disney properties.

OP added the India question after my comment. In the west women have equal rights. In the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia/ some parts of east Asia—not so much. The problem in the west is that feminists seem to think that equality isn’t enough. They want more rights than men.

Funny how feminists love equality except when it doesn’t benefit them. Drafting men AND women would in no way cause the end of the species, especially at the current level of world population. You can try to justify that point all you like, but in the end you’re just proving you only want equality to the point of benefit and never to the point of responsibility.
/r/MensRights24/07/23 08:03 PM

‘No one is getting drafted’. The draft has been activated as recently as 1972. To this day, the draft still remains as the selective service act which every man has to register for once they turn 18. You can bet your ass they’ll bring back the draft if we’re ever invaded. Women have the RIGHT not to have to participate. It will only be equal when they have to. PS. Men in the Ukraine are being forcibly conscripted as we speak.

What does the long past have to do with current events? Currently women have every right and opportunity men do and hold plenty of government, judicial, military, and private sector positions. In many cases women are being given more rights and opportunities above and beyond what their male counterparts get. And responsibilities men have solely been forced into are still not being forced on women (selective service as an example). Maybe it was a patriarchy 200 years ago. It’s definitely not anym…

Promiscuity has been conflated with independence. When you question their level of promiscuity they take it as an attack on their independence.
