It's bullshit. Moderately less toxic yet bullshit nonetheless. It's still gender essentialist, misogynistic and wrong on most levels. There is a tiny chance that this book will direct you to genuine self-improvement but it fall into many of the traps of TRP.

I've seen a lot of things saying that women will lose attraction or get bored if she feels too secure in the relationship. A woman won't leave a relationship through boredom with a secure confident man. Such a man can commit fully to her but because he's secure, he has standards and will leave if the relationship isn't meeting enough of his needs. To contrast, an insecure man offers commitment as a strategy to mitigate his insecurity that his partner might leave him. A man that throws everything…

"Shit tests" are an emotionally manipulative way to discern unjustified arrogance from justified confidence. In other words, if you are too cocky, some people are always going to try and bring you down a notch by probing. A person may be justifiably confident because they live a great life, have great friends and a positive attitude. However, many people are arrogant and use it to hide personal failures so "shit tests" can try to delineate in a blunt way.

I'm sorry or what you have been through. Sounds awful! I think you need to prioritise your own safety and the wellbeing of your children. It sounds like your divorce is an inevitability at this point. Make sure you are safe and that you can cut ties easily if he forces your hand. It's horrible to be calculating about this but its impossible to predict how people react to stressful events. Your husband clearly adopted a set of very toxic values that has poisoned him to the core. Ultimately, this …

"Shit tests" are things only worth worrying about if you aren't the real deal and pretend you are something you are not. Bravado and arrogance without the competence to back it up is shady and that makes people uneasy.

Woah, you need to reframe your view of hypergamy. Most of the RP views of the topic boils down to "people have standards". However, the mistake RP makes is that it assumes that all women have the same standard. It's not true and while there are common areas of overlap it's not uniform by any means. Everybody is entitled to deal-breakers, however shallow or deep. Men are allowed standards too.

It can seem like a person is bringing a lot of baggage of they are too open too early. There are appropriate contexts for being vulnerable. There is no harm in being vulnerable about a topic on a first date as long as you have a solid grasp of the situation. It's why self-improvement is so important. To expand the baggage metaphor. If you want to reveal the bags you are carrying, make sure you have a strong grip on them. The last thing you want is for your date to give you a heavy bag to carry f…

I'm willing to treat your enquiry in good faith. I subscribed to The Red Pill last year and became deeply igrained into the lore of the place. I read the Rational Male, Book of Pook and most of the sidebar articles. Rest assured, I was a true believer within a fortnight. However, I was still needy and given the amount of bravado and boasting on the subreddit, it made me internalise some shitty values. Things like I was only a "real man" if I treated women badly, got big muscles or "spun lots of …

Interesting, I'd not come across that during the time I was a believer. I'd say my personal values align with love, patience, goodness, tenderness and self-control. Peace and joy require too much God (in their biblical iterations) to be personal values.

...you are there to help men and their sexual strategy, period. I don't see much on TRP that actually helps men. It's the men's locker room of the internet where any rando can make ridiculous claims for status. As for sexual strategy, when you present the evidence that their strategy is attracting the low self-esteem manipulative women, it's dismissed out of hand. I wish these young men could see the machismo is part of the problem and just treating people like people will reap huge rewards.

The important values in my life are: honesty, kindness, compassion, vulnerability, sex positivity, consent and pragmatism. I realigned my thinking from: "What if no-one will ever have sex with me? I'm not worthy of intimacy." to "My life is really enjoyable, I can fulfil my touch and sexual needs on my own. If I find a compatible sexual partner then great but I'd rather be alone that in a meh relationship." The difficulty is describing how I got from A to B. Fufilling touch and sexual needs is r…

People drawn to TRP are fundamentally insecure and carry a lot of sexual shame. I was a kind and pleasant person but didn't become assertive until last year. The missing ingredients were: a set of values that removed the shame from sexual inexperience, developing an internal locus of control and allowing myself to be vulnerable.

Vulnerability is the key ingredient. If someone breaks another's heart they will heal with time.

It's quite a common misandrist attitude in some circles. There is a lot of self-loathing description of male anatomy and descriptions of sex as "impaling [women] with your engorged penis". Sexual shame can profoundly affect men.

The problem is that the vulnerable men and women drawn towards these movements have bad values. They measure their value on whether the opposite sex gives in to their advances. It make it impossible to love themselves. I found that when I deconsturcted my harmful values relating to women that I was able to be genuinely positive. I became non-judgemental about sex in alignment with sex positive values. I've found it much easier to be social since I took this view.

It depends of the maturity of the people involved. I've been rejected by friends and it hasn't changed anything. I recently chatted with a woman I dated three years ago when I was much more insecure, it was pleasant. Awkwardness tends to happen when someone actively makes it awkward.

It's about getting to know someone more than a strict order. If you make friends easily than a seemless and quick transition from acquaintance to girlfriend is easier. My standards for friends is very similar to my standard for intimate partners aside from physical attraction and sexual compatibility. I'd like to know that a crush is a good person before I express my interest. Worst case scenario, I end up with a great friendship. Best case scenario I have a highly compatible partner and a fanta…

How can I correct my mindset and approach? I'm not sure you have a mindset problem. You have a well centred view and looking out for #1 is important. I think we're talking about an approach problem. I'm not very good at the indirect style of flirting and hate the plausible deniability of it all. Instead, I get to know someone in a friendship context and compliment them on their compatibilities. The point is to accept the way the world actually works, "play the game" rather than hate the players in it or the game itself. That's the problem, there is no strategy guide for life. Anytime someone offers you magic beans or the source of eternal life, it's appropriate to be suspicious. There may be anecdotes that contain some moral lesson but there is so much projection it's really hard to tease out any relevant lessons. Well done for a good outcome. Guilt is an appropriate emotion to feel about the manipulation and dishonesty. However, feeling guilty about having lots of partners is unhealthy IMO. I think its important to own your actions for back in the day. It's important that you can look your partner or exes in the eye and say "I made many mistakes in the past, I am sorry." Welcome to club Homo sapiens sapiens! The bitterness of young heterosexual men is a real problem that can't be ignored. There are components of pop culture that reinforce the idea that teens are having lots and lots of sex and relationships. It's further amplified by the fact that their same age female peers are at their most physically attractive state and have the attentions of most men. Men aged 18-24 who experience involuntary celibacy during their "prime" get shaming messages from nearly ev…

Patriarchal societies made non-fathers suffer for millennia. I will never try to deny those atrocities took place. Thankfully, cultural and ethical beliefs have shifted towards human emancipation. There are still problems with rape culture, FGM and sex slavery in the West. However, most of the horrors you mentioned are rightly reviled by the overwhelming majority of people. Therefore, it is a fringe view to promote violence against women. They are chastised by everyone but a tiny minority. I won…

Please don't take the fringe view of The Red Pill as a commentary on contemporary gender relations. Men and women are imperfect people that make mistakes. The statements you've made treat men as a monolith. There are many individuals that care about personal responsibility, fidelity and respect regardless of gender. I hope that in the future you will come to realise this.

I don't really buy the "x influence makes you more likely to do y" argument. While I largely agree with your premises, I disagree with your conclusion. Murderers have a high risk gene traits that when combined with the right stimulus (child abuse, bullying) can start triggering violent behaviours. Prof Raine also found different brain structure that maximizes impulsiveness and minimises empathy. People also commit terrible acts when commanded by someone or something they respect as an authority.…

I also found this website while coming out of the Red Pill. I was serious about lifting for a bit and his videos with Mark Rippetoe are very high quality. There is some pretty good stuff there for people who enjoy grooming, fitness, outdoor pursuits, self-reliance, survival etc. However, it's not really to my taste. I think that the mantra "women are people" is incredibly powerful. That's the mistake that TRP makes. Women aren't a monolith. You can teach yourself to value individuals for who they are rather than what they can give you. TRP isn't 100% shit. There is some useful self-improvement stuff there. It's just reprogramming yourself to be more empathetic. Read books by women. Read Howie Reith's, Marcus Geduld's and Franklin Veaux's Quora answers. There is a healthy alternative to TRP.

If my relationship with her was tremendous and met my needs, why would I care? It's only awkward if you or others make it so. She's with me now so that would be the only relevant point. I want to understand why you consider women to be objects that can be used up by having sex with them. Why do you value inexperience? You are making it sound like I'm forgiving sexually liberated women. To forgive they need to have done something wrong. They haven't.

The moment you characterise women with multiple sexual partners as "leftovers" you are denying them personhood. Women aren't objects that can be consumed by having sex with them. Experience has huge positives as well. They know what kind of sex they like and most of them grow out of the inhibitions enforced on them by our culture for fear of being slutty. Very familiar. It's a concept with good intentions but it heavily reinforces identity politics which I think serves as a distraction. I fundamentally disagree, oligarchs would still be oligarchs even if they were comprised of 50% women. Many feminists seem to have given up and would rather equal representation within the hierarchies of power rather than dismantling them entirely.
/r/ExRedPill29/12/16 06:43 PM

I don't think they are. Gender and racial equality has primarily benefited capital as both are cheap sources of labour. Most politicians have no intention to hurt the oligarchy at all which is why anti-establishment candidates are all the rage. It's interesting that you find my identity relevant. I am a white man who understands the privilege that brings.

I find this patriarchy narrative really unhelpful. It's a distraction from the core issue that we live under and oligarchy of politicians, bankers and capitalists. Income inequality is the biggest form of "oppression" yet we are distracted by the gender inequality within the oligarchy. Who cares if the oligarchy is male-dominated? It's like demanding a monster clips its fingernails.

The "alpha fucks/beta bucks" concept is poorly constructed and offers a terrible explanation to what is clearly the process of maturity. Young people are superficial, they value looks, experiences and take everything at face value. Many men and a minority of women are ignored as potential romantic partners because they don't fit those superficial expectations. Something interesting happens at the age of 25, the brain fully matures. People's identities crystallize and they work out who they are. …

I have to say that you are setting yourself up to fail with all the negative self-talk. You claim to not be good with women. I hope you realise that man/woman isn't a particularly useful distinction. You can PM me if you want to talk privately. There is so much to the Red Pill that is superficially believable. It's explanations are so broad and stereotypical that it really starts to break down if you poke beneath the surface. Women are people and you need to understand that romantic and sexual experiences won't fulfill you. It doesn't cure the lack of self-esteem or depression, those are aspects of yourself that you can change massively if you invest in yourself and your happiness.

I fancy most women, all of which I know i'll never be able to have, so instead I seek approval which is as close is I will get. This is desperation and seeing women as sex dolls. Can you please explain how 'entitlement to sex' is an example of patriarchy hurting men too. A large aspect of men getting male approval is having sex with women. Our culture suggests men are judged by their number of lays. The prime example is the guy who shows a picture of the girl he had sex with on Friday night in the men's locker room. As a consequence, women are treated like crap so a guy can get pats on the back from his male friends. It's a sorry state of affairs. But the primary victims…

I still cry myself to sleep quite often, and I know I'll die a bitter virgin. I would recommend you get professional help. You have some serious issues that a counsellor or psychiatrist could help you with. If you get well and improve yourself then you'll have more options in the future. Actually it's a way to get your relationship together if you're married, or move on. There is a definition of emotional abuse and dread game fits the description. You shouldn't need to have communication of that context in a healthy relationship. Yet such abusive techniques are preached in the RP theory sections. So its ok to go into marriage with this mindset? Yes and no. You should only get married if its definitely what you both want. Not a natural progression. If a marriage is clearly not fulfilling most of your needs then you have to be willing to leave. However, marriage is also about compromise and people will always have needs that can't be met by their partner. Why is this? Because he is such a catch that their partners don't want to lose them? Hypergamy isn't a thing. Women will stick around be…

I was very red pill for about two months before I realised how far I'd fallen. I'm now full "blue pill" male feminist. I'll try my best to answer your queries: When a man is in a relationship and changes from "alpha" to "beta" behaviour the woman is often no longer attracted to the man, and often wants to leave. Firstly, the alpha/beta distinction has long been debunked. It's not really applicable to humans due to our ability to recognise value from prestige rather than just dominance. Secondly,…

I also extend my apologies. It must have been a horrific experience, especially given it was your first relationship. It makes me so grateful that I never inflicted such pain on anybody during my time in the movement. I want to reassure you that there are many men out there who are honest, loving and will respect your boundaries. Please don't let this experience tar your future relationships and view of men. There are so many good men looking for good women!

It's the influence of evolution on the female brain. A confident leader is always going to be a better prospect for a woman than a less confident follower. Historically, women have been vulnerable to horrific treatment so they would pick a man who makes them feel safe from other men. Particularly a man who respects her.

If red pill is wrong why do you think women working as cashiers and other dead end jobs are so much more successful at finding mates then men? Attractive women will always be in demand, not in a marketplace but because men are so visually stimulated by them. A woman doesn't need status to be attractive, but attractive women with status are more attractive (at least to me). Why is it wrong for a guy to care about how a girl looks like? It isn't. Only caring about physical attributes is wrong and …

Fantastic post. It really condenses down the issues TRP has while emphasising the positive messages.

I'm a sex-positive anti-feminist, mainly because the loudest and most influential members of the feminist movement are misandrists.

What hate? Did you really hate women? The attitude that women are inherently manipulative and cruel is inherently hateful. I never fully bought it which was why my 2 month experiment ended.

This post made me laugh so much! Thank you! You have seen the truth, the only thing holding you back is your insecurities to stand alone. We all stand alone but I also view my fellow humans as equals. In some ways, I'm grateful that the anger generated from "taking the red pill" has spurred me to improve myself dramatically. Now I've let go of the hate, I've never been happier in my life.

It's mainly the thought and language policing that that social justice movement promotes that annoys me. I find it farcical and infantilising to the extreme. Christina Hoff Sommers is one of my favourite speakers on the subject. I am also a big fan of Milo Yiannopoulos although it's more due to the fact I find him hilarious than agree with everything he says.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
