Does it say in your custody agreement that you will be splitting the month of July?

nothing changes in their behavior - it’s just guilt free cheating with friends now, but rest assure it was the same thing when y’all were together you just didn’t hear about it

yeah - put your pay check in a new account. Let credit cards roll on. Start a new savings account and start putting money aside in it. tell no one. Talk to a lawyer. Get an estimate of how much you’ll need to hire them to file. Once you’re ready to file, withdraw half of everything, yes half…..THEN file. Thank me later.

lawyer consult, start the process, slowly. say nothing. get ready financially, legally, and as much as you can mentally. take a while. get ducks in a row. when that time comes wait for the threat again, ask if it’s what she really wants? if the answer is anything other than no, you accept because your spouse no longer wants you. Then you put your ducks in the water and start the process, immediately. You’re already 2 miles in front and ready for what may come. If you don’t? then it could be you …

yep, same as all of us! over 50lb, was under 200 to start with. Most has stayed off. It totally reset my habits.

I have accrued no assets since separation. She is the monied spouse.

noones saying she isn’t getting anything out of it, she obviously is getting something that you’re providing by proxy. Validation? Comfort from the guilt of destroying your family unit? Feeling for a secure familiar branch cause the new branch doesn’t feel that strong? Regretting it? Making it harder for you to move on? Maybe just being nice? All possible. But she divorced you, right? Nothing good will come from being very close like this after the divorce. You’ll find a lot of similar stories o…

Do you know or understand “why” she’s doing that though? It’s not because she is still in love, it’s to keep your defenses low while she prepares for divorce and gets all of the ducks in a row. You’ll get the scarce side of her when she’s ready to flee. She just needs to make sure the other branch is completely secure before she lets go and swings on to the other full time. Listen to the guys, guy.

yep, she’s attempted to swing branches and has found her new branch isn’t as secure as she thought, so the monkeys still clinging to the old tree with one hand. Want my real advice? Play the game. Let her think there’s a chance. While she’s contemplating the two branches, make sure you lawyer up and get all your financials in a row, then simply serve her. She’s had an affair. Time to go.

…on a sub called Divorced_Men. No one posts here looking for the ex wives perspective on this. There are subs available for that.

It’s the opposite of the information OP asked for, in a sub, called divorce_men. Doesn’t take a genius…

Talk to a lawyer immediately, and have Plan B ready to execute the second she tells you it’s permanent. Do not hesitate. As said above, the separation is being used to prepare themselves - to get HER ducks in a row, making sure the branch she’s been trying to swing over too is strong enough to hold her and her baggage’s weight, and you’ll hear from her about it once it’s all set on her end. Don’t sit and wait on it brother, you got this. Prepare yourself and be ready.

In short: No.

yep. it’s divorce, brother. start asap. it’ll be ok, i swear. If none of these actions are enough for you to give up hope of fidelity of your stbxw, then the fact she fought you on “cutting off” her affair partner should really tell you all you need to know. do you want to share her? you know the answer. chin up, lawyer up, pull up. Let’s go baby you got this

Yep, i’ve seen it asked for many many times. Do not sign it. Negotiate and have that as a line you won’t cross. Your kids need BOTH parents involved in all major life decisions until emancipation. Don’t sweat it, more often than not, if it’s still a draft, it is simply another point for her to negotiate you down on (aka we can have joint legal custody if you accept XYZ less” elsewhere in the document. Standard narcissistic shit. P.S. in some states the ‘tiebreaker’ can only be a judge, which sor…

easy. record everything with a discreet voice recorder. And say OK to everything she throws at you. Grey rock the shit out her. Godspeed!

ah yeah these exact stories break my heart every time i read it, which is often. I remember the feeling well. The truth is though, unless that man’s a serious felon there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Zero. It’s not going to help. Hard to swallow pills: Best you can do is hope the guys not a fuck up, sticks around, makes mom happy, and your daughter. If it fucks up, it’s not on you, she will have to answer to her daughter one day. Focus on what you want YOUR family life to look like…

Have a look at the sub. You’re 1 of a million with the same story in here. Her mind & feeling towards you changed long ago. You were supposed to read her mind and be a different person. Don’t sweat it. It wasn’t your fault. Kids? Pour your energy into them, make a new life with them. Decide what you want it to look like, with the knowledge that she will only be a distant part of that. Don’t pay attention to feelings of ex, they will seem like they ebb & flow. Pay no heed. ultimately she blew up …

the family as you knew it is gone forever. take as long as you need to grieve it, and start building up your new family (you and your teen) and what you’d like that to look like in the future. Start planning for the divorce and get your ducks in a row, quietly with a smile on your face. Take Some of the advice about gym, wardrobe, friends etc to ward off complete and utter despair. shes not coming back, regardless of how she made it sound - even if there was hope, would you risk taking someone b…

You can negotiate with her lawyer, pro se, of course. You can simply pay a lawyer hourly to advise you on this if you wanted, but ultimately you’re acting on your own behalf and have to be comfortable with that should it end up in court.

Since this is a men’s divorce sub and you need advice, i’m going to go the other way. No judgement on your action or morality. my recommendation is thus ; get back with her. put the breaks on the divorce. see what happens, but START preparing for Divorce NOW, as silently as possible. Do not delay. Get your ducks in a row, cover yourself. If worst comes to worst you have a plan and should ruthlessly execute that plan should things change. This could also be a ploy for you’re partner to delay thin…

they all do it. lemme ask you, did she ever mention the 7 year itch? the jigs up, they will bounce the second they’re unhappy + see a “better” suitor. chin up king

lawyer up. she’s planning her exit. if you do not, you’ll be “surprised” when it happens, and she’ll be far down the road with plans

you’re not hearing him
/r/Divorce_Men05/02/24 06:05 PM

She might realize, as you say, of course it is not beyond the realms of possibility - what I MEANT was really, that, OP’s chances of hearing it (it was my fault, i’m sorry, etc) is so close to zero that it’s actually negligible; and if it does come, it’s because there’s something to gain for her, not because she actually believes it was also her fault.

standard stuff, you got this. grey rock, fix your side of the fence and be there/ready to scoop up the kids when she inevitably demands you have more time with the kids (…and of course don’t mull over/wait for her to attain any level of personal responsibility for the situation she created - p.s.a. it’ll never happen)
/r/Divorce_Men05/02/24 04:51 PM

I don’t know about that but she sure didn’t post in a sub reddit created specifically for men (because others available didn’t suffice)
/r/Divorce_Men31/01/24 12:04 AM
2

Of course it would be downvoted, but that’s neither here nor there is it? it’s meaningless. it’s the correct sub. that is a lot of text to simply write “i like this post in a wrong sub because the person may have an available vagina”
/r/Divorce_Men29/01/24 09:32 PM
2

maybe we could spark it over at r/divorce where both sexes are free to ask all these questions and not a specific sub for questions from men (bc they’re usually marginalized historically via divorce proceedings and thus why the sub exists)?
/r/Divorce_Men29/01/24 08:49 PM

so not only do we have to read this crap in r/divorce we also are allowing it in an advice sub for men? can’t even get a break on reddit.

it’s an exited strategy- just start preparing for divorce
/r/Divorce_Men09/12/23 06:31 AM

you say it yourself - she could have stopped the divorce at ANY point but didny

there is nothing you can do to circumvent all possible negative outcomes EXCEPT not get married/have kids. That’s the hard to swallow pill. Sounds like you’re moving forward with it so hope, doing the work, and getting a prenup is all you can do to put some protections in place but ultimately you cannot control how the rest of the dominos fall! Best of luck!
