I'd look for someone honest, intelligent, kind and very importantly, fun! Also someone curious/into learning and who's a cool person overall. A little adventurous. We'd have to have some interests in common and I'd love it if she really impressed me with her talents and ideas. And of course attraction. Basically same things I've looked for in a guy.

Love. Partnership in life. Parenting, possibly. Happiness at spending a lot of time together. Intimacy. I can't really generalize, I only know how I feel with my husband. Basically, an even closer bond than you have with your friends, which for me is saying a lot, as I love my friends very dearly.

When my husband goes to conferences we speak less frequently than usual. Conferences have a lot crammed into them, and often include working breakfasts, lunches and dinners or meals with colleagues for networking, plus all the travel. We usually speak once before he goes to bed, which can be late if he's still working on his presentations and stuff. When he's home, we text and speak more throughout the day. The good morning text is very nice but I wouldn't worry about regular communication while…

"There isn't much more to casual sex. Besides orgasm." Wait...there's a lot to do between kissing on the mouth and orgasm LOL. The whole body is an erogenous zone. This applies whether sex is casual or in a loving, committed relationship.

If you don't want to have casual sex then don't. You dont need to justify it. However, you could avoid problems 1, 2 and 3 by choosing a guy in person. Avoid problem 4 by carrying condoms yourself. Try to judge whether he's a decent guy before you have sex. Communicate what you want and enjoy, to help with foreplay and the rest. If he turns out to be an uncaring jerk, kick him out. If he's just inept, oh well. You're not being treated like a hooker if you choose to have sex and you're both havin…

When single and younger, I felt physical attraction toward men I didn't know fairly often. Not like I was gonna die if we didn't get together, but yeah, definitely attracted to plenty of guys. Sometimes I approached or smiled at them, sometimes not. I liked the hippie type, long hair, in a band, cool outfits, that kind of thing. I was in relationships but wasn't thinking about marriage until I started dating my husband.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/07/26 07:52 AM

Date a woman who loves Philip Glass and Dune? Or in general, someone where your interests align or overlap sufficiently.

Lol that's what used to be called a "blind date" in the past. If I was single Id I'd try the app.

"Women don't have to deal with this kind of mild disgust from men" No, women just have to deal with the thousands of years of patriarchal disrespect from men built into many world cultures. If women are now finally gaining some economic and cultural power that's only fair. If men still want women to be interested in them, they really have to offer something besides domination, disrespect and money. Fortunately, a lot of men do offer good things, so I don't think it's true that all women are disg…

I understand about the job. Re: relationships, unless you had an open relationship agreement, how can you be a great partner if you lie? There's nothing wrong with non-monogamy imo if both people agree to it. Then you wouldn't have to lie or cheat. Not all women are looking for a serious commitment. Some are good with just lovers. May be personal to me, but I think honesty is foundational to a good relationship, regardless of what else you're into.

I agree women might casually date a guy she would never marry, but lying seems over the top, sleazy, and taking advantage. I get it that you don't have morals (which makes it seem creepy that you were in the military) but it's very bad to lie like this just to get laid. I hope most women aren't naive enough to sleep with you or else are also low-character people who don't care about you either. Regardless, why can't you get laid if you're honest about your atheism, etc. One good thing: your post…

After you spend some quality time with him in person, gently bring up your feelings about the phone convos. Hopefully, being direct (not hinting, but also not critical) will help you guys understanding each other's communication styles and needs better. Good luck!

I would probably use some for making yourself feel good re: looks, and the rest for the wedding/savings. But you could run it by your bf in case he has a strong preference.

Thanks for this! One thing I'm confused about though is the gender disparity in leisure time (despite stating similar hours of overall work). It seems like women are "on-call" for the kids more and the time spent on multitasking related to housework and child care. I don't know what that means and why it takes away from leisure time--is it actually uncounted work time? How do men have so much more free time than women if their so-called work hours are very similar? <image>

I think men often internalize and emulate their fathers' behaviors too, and are affected by the dynamic between their parents. I can see an adult being clueless about self-responsibity because they weren't taught about this. I only mentioned trauma because I was thinking about psychological disorders such as narcissism. But in rereading, I see that's not what you're talking about.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/26 10:16 PM

You are generalizing. What's your source for these ideas and stats? I mean, how would you even know how much time and effort people put into domestic labor? Are you or have you been married, especially with kids, or even lived with someone?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/26 09:09 PM

I think you're right. Emotional immaturity can stem from some kind of trauma in childhood. However, it can happen to both men and women.

Yes, of course. The important thing is that you met each other.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/26 07:40 PM

I think we're in a transitional phase where old norms about gender roles are brushing up against new beliefs, and there is overlap (and confusion) as society figures out what to keep and what to change. So it really is like two conversations are happening. I don't know whether all women will become choose to become completely competent to care for themselves without the help of men, which is the endpoint of OP's point of view. It seems possible and maybe good. Honestly it seems better than needi…
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/26 07:57 AM

I think women would intervene. Often it just takes a verbal intervention to diffuse the situation, or drawing more people's attention to the danger and getting a group involved, calling the cops, etc. No one in their right mind would let someone get beat up, raped, or killed.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/26 03:17 AM

Wdym? I'm a regular nice person like all the other women who've answered this question. Are you accusing me of lying?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/26 03:08 AM

I find the fact that only men have stopped to help really weird. I've helped plenty of guys in this type of situation and so have my woman friends.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/26 02:54 AM

Do you mean in a barfight? Or?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/26 02:51 AM

Aside from that instance, you dont expect someone will give you a hand? Or just that it wouldn't be a woman?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/26 02:28 AM

That sounds awful.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/26 02:24 AM

See comment above.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/26 02:21 AM

Yeah I just assumed that was obvious. Like when women stop to help a guy change a tire at night on a snowy highway or pick up a male hitchhiker or jumpstart a guy's car. Admittedly, not fights but still help and potentially life-saving when someone's car is broken down in the middle of nowhere.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/26 02:16 AM

A man helping out a woman in danger is just decent behavior. A woman looking out for herself (as in going to a club with other friends, recognizing danger signals in who she'stalking with, carrying pepper spray, etc.) is just smart behavior. These aren't mutually exclusive. Women don't deserve not to have to think of their safety (if that's what your gf is implying) and men (and other women) should help out if necessary. And men may also find themselves in situations where they could use help so…

I'm not sure why a restaurant date felt like too much pressure. Still at this point I think you should see other people, especially if you're looking to get married soon. He sounds more like a friend.

I'm not sure why a restaurant would feel like too much pressure. Still at this point I think you should date other people, whether or not you see him again. Friendship can definitely turn into attraction but this can take time if it even happens. If you're looking to get married fairly soon, it sounds like you don't think he's the guy for you. You might be better off as friends.

Since you've said your dates have been walking around and going to cafes, this is fine, of course, but maybe it's too low effort for you? Is it possible you would feel more excited about him if he "wined and dined" you more, took you to more interesting and fun places, and in general put more effort into planning the dates? Since he's older, I imagine he would have the experience and means to do so. I'm not saying this generates physical attraction by itself, but it could make him overall more i…

He tried to end things with you three times. He's weak and won't stand up to his friends for you, even if they make racist comments. I'd seriously question if you want to be with this person. Even if you still think he's husband material (despite his not valuing you), are you sure you'd want to model being disrespected in front of any future children?

If he doesn't know what he needs, how can you? I hope the therapist can help nail down what is "missing" for him. He may also do better with an additional medicine for crisis times so he doesn't escalate or get so worked up. Maybe he can ask his provider about that. Also, when he is anxious, maybe suggesting something physical such as sex or running/jogging together might work off some of his extra energy and be fun too. Definitely bring this issue up in couples therapy. Rooting for you guys!
/r/RedPillWomen21/06/26 10:41 PM
3

Would it help him to see a psychiatric provider for medicine to combat his anxiety and depression? If he has a chemical imbalance, there's not much you can really do beyond holding and comforting him, because the problem is inside him. Also, have you talked about what he needs during crisis when he's in a better place or during the couples therapy?

I agree with others that a 2nd date with him (if he asks) couldn't hurt and might go well. But I suggest for future first dates you drive separately and meet at a public place. It's safer not to get into a car with someone you don't know.

"Where I live being a man who doesn't chase and express enthusiasm for said attention..." I have to ask why you don't chase then? Nothing wrong with changing approach from waiting for women to approach you to approaching them more. I don't really know why you haven't dated for so long. I believe your height could be a factor since you say it is, but I also think you might be extremely picky (your choice ofc) or be overly concerned with potential rejection if you show definite interest. Well that sucks if you're all that and being 5'8" is enough to make you want to change genders 1000%. Btw, women have to do a lot more than just be fit, tho that's a good start. You yourself said you wouldn't date people you met superficially. I'm assuming at least some of the ones you turned down were in shape. I understand you're looking for a real connection and it sounds like you feel frustrated or even angry that some women aren't giving you a chance and getting to know you. When you say "b…

I'm much older, gen x, so this totally might be a generational disconnect.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 09:48 PM

I like the nerdy guys with glasses aesthetic as well the more typically good-looking front man type, any race. I dated a couple black jazz musicians. But playing music is hard; I wouldn't recommend to anyone who didn't want to, or wasn't able to, be at least a decent player. You mentioned "other races." Do you find black women less receptive than others to a "nerdy" black musician? If you feel like saying ofc.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 09:31 PM

I already said I think dating would be harder. And I definitely see how hard-line career requirements (non-optional) could be a burden too; I just think that that would motivate me personally. I've already had successful careers and supported myself for many years but I think I might have given my choice of career and its trajectory more thought and effort if it wasn't "acceptable" (to some) for women to be less go-getting. But I can see how societal career expectations and norms could go both w…

I think there's a double standard at least in U.S. for gender height. I don't really know. I'd be 5'5" and I'm sure I'd make it work. It's just dating was effortless for me as a woman and I'd probably have to put some thought into it as a man. On the bright side, as a man, society would have higher expectations for me career-wise, which for me personally would be a motivator to be super successful and focus very seriously on my career/give it my all. I feel like it's easier as a woman to not do …
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 08:03 PM

I didn't suggest mixtape and black men play guitar. But idea of question was more about putting yourself out there in performing/creativity. It could be singing or open mic poetry or acting, even sports. Is there any potentially sexy alternative you think wouldn't be cringe and corny for a black man? Also if you love music, what's wrong with playing it if you're black?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 07:05 PM

Sure. I don't think it always does either. Thanks for answer.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 08:04 AM

💯 cerebral thing lol. Husband is a scientist. His main band was mostly original space jam psychedelic stuff, so cerebral on ac*d 😂 And wow, Audio Engineer is so competitive. Your husband must be really talented. Glad you didn't ignore him! Maybe bass players are best husbands 💖
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 08:02 AM

Oh, I totally get you now. I've occasionally experienced competitive guys who try to show they play better than I do, which is so 🙄. I haven't encountered any "just trying to impress you" types but I can see how that would be a turn off to a woman player! (I was thinking of guys who genuinely loved music/playing.) And you might be right about my friend. He had a great voice, even if he wasn't a great guitarist yet, so that had to be a big factor, along with the bravery. Thanks for your perspecti…

Harder time as a guy because I'm petite so he'd be pretty short. That seems unfair. Even with all my other advantages, he'd still be quite short. No shorter than some guys I've actually dated but I think it would be harder. Feeling empathy for short dudes.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 07:42 AM

But aside from your own opinion of yourself, isn't being "cool" ultimately just how people perceive you? This may be a thing of the past but I think of this guy, a random friend whom I felt zero attraction toward (average looking), and then seeing/hearing him perform live (playing and singing) changed everything. (He later became extraordinarily talented but at the time he was just learning; maybe his first show.) You see a different side of someone when they perform live. A person can become mo…

/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 06:42 AM

/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 06:34 AM

Ofc physics is a chick magnet! Plays guitar and really good at math and physics...please don't be my college ex-bf 😂
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 06:28 AM

I hear you. Another poster said similar. Though I've seen men and also women recently playing guitar and singing on college campuses and people were very into it. But yeah, I don't know if it led to hooking up or if the players even wanted that.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 06:23 AM

I hope all young women aren't that superficial or self-centered. But why do you think they are? I think many women would be glad if their SO had a creative hobby he enjoyed. Plus she could play music with him or enjoy his performances. How do you feel personally about dating a musician, if you feel like saying?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 06:19 AM

Point. Different music genres, different emphasis. (But if a guy played bass in a funk or reggae band, would it make him more attractive to women than if he wasn't a musician?)
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 06:11 AM

/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 05:53 AM

Being a good writer is sexy. Being a bad writer much less so. More intellectual type of sexy than a performing musician maybe, but still cool which is sexy imo.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 05:53 AM

I think women find competence extremely sexy. And glad to hear men find competent women hot too.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 05:50 AM

Good point. I agree. Even if someone's not amazingly talented or amazing looking, the combo of confidence and being artistic is attractive.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 05:34 AM

I think the "years back" may be relevant here, tho idk, maybe he was hot because of the confidence, if not the actual music (or typical looks).
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 05:28 AM

I wasn't suggesting playing music as just a means to an end, more wondering if it's a side benefit as I've observed in the past. I get it that you weren't interested in the women who approached you, but it least you got approached. Some guys here seem like they'd be glad for that. And there are a lot of women in between whatever the beauty queen is and someone too unappealing or wasted where it would be predatory. Thanks for your thoughts about my question and about playing music in general.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 05:24 AM

Admits it might be true lol. But drummers now... Edited to add I'm just kidding. My awesome husband is a bass player. I started dating him after he started playing out in a band. Not directly because of it but it adds hotness imo.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/24 05:14 AM

I see what you mean about falling for the local musician being less common now, but there were always rock stars on earlier media who weren't especially available compared to local guy. But maybe some current online musicians are a newer category in between rock stars and local guy. I can see that.

It's a fair question. I think if you had ANY doubts about her feelings for you, you shouldn't marry her. I'm happily married. At some point you have to trust each other and know each other's character. Hopefully, that trust is not misplaced. If someone gets married and has a large amount of money I think a pre-nup is understandable. Still that only covers money, not potential heartbreak. I'd just say choose wisely if you're considering getting married.

I'm confused. What are you and your partner waiting 2-5 years for? Til ready to get married? Are you engaged? If not, why would you wait or work according to his schedule, and most importantly why would you suddenly change your life after he comments on your response to an Internet meme? Are you sure he wants to get married and have kids? If so, I feel he should accept and love you as you are right now. I don't know. Even if a guy had those things if he's boring, why date him? I've always been attracted to really intelligent and interesting guys. Looks are certainly a factor but honestly money and status irrelevant. For marriage, stability/employment (at least for me) became more important in case kids. But for dating, I'd say it depends what the woman is seeking from a man at a given time.

/r/RedPillWomen20/05/24 07:11 PM

Women are at least half of "society." Do you mean what should we be doing to ourselves? Providing equal rights and freedoms seems good to me. Everyone is already responsible for their personal actions. What society should not be doing to women is promoting unrealistic beauty standards, treating women as second class citizens, taking away women's rights to our/their own bodies. Alternately stated, society should embrace diversity, including in appearance, provide equal pay for equal work and equa…

Kindness shouldn't have to be prioritized; it should be a given. Being decent is totally compatible with being attractive and interesting. Being a jerk/unkind just leads to the world being more fucked up. Women should be decent and kind too.

Quite a few red flags with 30M. I think your values should be more aligned for a happy marriage. (I'm married.) Maybe get to know 33M better and see if your feelings for him develop. Also, there may be someone else out there for you if that's an option.

Someone I know married a widow with 2 kids. He got the family he never had. (It was his second marriage.) So that worked out. Also, she wasn't happy with her late husband anyway even before his death. Another widow I know also planned to divorce her husband, but he passed first. So, OP, being married and even having kids with a guy doesn't mean the woman prefers him over a future man. It can be the opposite sometimes.

I've known a few women that had an external need for validation that caused those types of behaviors. The one I stayed close friends with found that therapy helped enormously to teach her how to develop a strong inner self, so she didn't have to depend on others to fulfill that basic need. That way, relationships can be healthy and happy, not based on uncontrollable, needy behavior. This is all changeable but you might benefit from therapy to understand why you act certain ways and to make the c…
