On average, men need more calories than women.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/03/26 10:59 PM

I am maybe attracted to 1% of women, if that. That's not a problem. It only becomes a problem if everybody is attracted to the same 1%.

I don't remember. Wasn't anything important, I think. The point is that I sometimes think when other people say something without thinking, and that noticeable change in conversation flow can creep out some women.

Women have suddenly lost interest in me. In one case, the date was going well, until the moment it took me a while to answer a question, because I had to think about the answer. I could see the switch flip right there.

Some men do. I don't. The only time in the past I felt that way, I ended the relationship because it was broken.

/r/PurplePillDebate21/02/26 12:10 AM

I think you may have that backwards. Women who date an asshole often know that the guy is an asshole, and date him nevertheless for a variety of reasons.

Of course the "Labor Theory of Value" is a myth. Unfortunately, one hour of Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift on stage has slightly higher value than one hour of me posting on reddit. Mathematically, the Labor Theory of Value can be made work if the input-output system is linear and positive semi-definite. But in the modern world, the output does not linearly depend on input; creating copies has become much cheaper than the initial development. There there is all that waste which has negative value.

I am related to a couple that just got married where she is his first girlfriend, literally. I know more examples like that, and I don't have to go back to my parents' generation. Doesn't have anything to do with culture; some people just have their first relationship work out, and that number isn't even that small. Not having to move to a different city for studies or work helps, though.

With a 60/40 ratio of women to men, yes, some men will take advantage of the situation. My ex studied at a university where the ratio was approximately 75/25, unsurprisingly it was extra bad for the women there. Don't play those games, look for potential partners outside of the professional school.

I would not date my current self due to bad health, but I would date my younger self.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/01/26 07:15 PM

I would not date a woman I do not consider sexually attractive, but that's not the same as looks. Looks then are not static. People can lose weight or gain weight, take better care of themselves, and even being in a different mood affects looks significantly. On a longer train ride, my seat reservation put me opposite a woman of my age. We had a really nice chat, and after two hours she looked much, much better than when she boarded the train.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/01/26 05:59 AM

Q4M: do y'all assume that every coupled men you see out in the wild is unhappy in his relationship or the woman settled for him? No, of course not. If not, what do you assume when you see a couple out in the wild? I see some happy couples and some unhappy couples. Probably more happy couples than unhappy couples, but I am not keeping count.

You talked to guys who did not even know how dating worked 30 years ago. Going to bars and approach? LOL. Bars were full of men, hardly any women there. BTW, dating apps already existed 30 years ago. Don't overlook that "bad guys" will jump onto some opportunities which "nice guys" will let go for various reasons. Back when I was 32, a decent looking 18 year old girl wanted me to take her v-card. She was quite immature for her age, thus I declined the offer. I did not want to take advantage of her immaturity.

You should. But as a contraception method, condoms have a rather high failure method even when used correctly. Now, if you were to do that just once to lose your virginity, the risk might be considered reasonably small. But you suggested to "slowly make steps upward from the bottom of the barrel".

There were no men interested in going out with me, not just no attractive ones. As this keeps coming up once in a while, let me just say that I have a female relative in her late twenties who is about a 7/10, is quite extroverted, and still can't get any dates in a city with 60%men/40% women among young people.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/11/25 09:58 PM

Most virginity stats put virgin men in their 20s at around 10-15%. Yeah, that looks like a realistic range. However, that's a statement about virginity, not a statement about relationships. Sexlessness numbers, the percentage of men who did not have sex the past year, are much higher. Furthermore, the percentages will be higher in some populations, for example among socially awkward nerds who still live with their parents.

Why do you not respond with the proper courting dance that we agreed as a society makes for a good dating experience for everyone? LOL, you're not even on the same planet as reality. That is not a good dating experience. Not at all. Nor does it "attract the right kind of man". Nor did it in the old days.

A valid question. There even are relationships where the woman physically abuses the man. But overall, I think it is not the same. In the woman with the "bad guy" scenario, the woman complains about the "bad guy" to her Nice Guy[TM] friend, using words such as "why can't he be like you" (but she would never date the Nice Guy[TM]). The woman's focus is on trying to fix either the "bad guy" or "fix" herself so that the "bad guy" stops abusing her. In the man with the "crazy woman" scenario, the gu…

There's also other risks. Just started with the pill? It will take some time until it actually works. Got sick and everything came out at both ends? The pill might not work for a while. In some combinations of anti-depressives and the pill, the pill won't work. Did your doctor check counterindications before they prescribed the pill or the AD?

Before the internet, It used to be people would only date for the following social norms. Marriage (Religion played a part in that) Financial Gain (Society loved rewarding couples with money) Children (Back when that was affordable) Family Appeasement (Get the folks off our back about it and get them grandchildren) Love (Yes people would just do it for love) Nope. Many people, men and women, dated because they enjoyed sex. Just look up, say, the number of illegal abortions in the 1950s.

Training for a marathon is not a red flag. She is at least somewhat in shape, which is a good thing. Extensive training can, however, contribute to a cramped schedule with not much room for romance. If we can meet only once every six weeks because she never has time, this won't go anywhere.

Looks at those studies: from when is the data they are using? From where is the data they are using. For example, there is such a study from Poland, using data going back to the 19th century. Well, back then the risk of malnutrition during or after a pregnancy was massive, there were no vaccinations against many diseased, antibiotics hadn't been invented yet, and even the risk out death was significant. But that's Poland, over 100 years ago. Such ancient studies are not relevant to modern life.

I am happily married and not interested in complications. I could easily end up friend zoning a woman I consider attractive, albeit I would not first let her think that I might be interested. Some people are in a bad mental state, for example after a break up. That can lead to conflicting emotions. Around age 15, there was this girl I liked, and she clearly was interested, but my mother and her mother successfully sabotaged the whole thing. Years later, she approached me, but I could not handle …

Wow. I did not know that asking guys out can be this difficult for a woman. Two of them have told me they find me super hot and it’s just awkward to sleep with a friend. That's the friend zone. Do you genuinely believe that a "traditional" female role is important and honorable? 150 years ago, yes, but that changed decades ago. In many locations, the "traditional" female role is not economically viable. Housing and food are too expensive, most men don't make enough to feed a family when the base rent for a two bedroom apartment is 3k/month, or even more.

Your observation is correct, some men avoid dating single moms. On average, dating a single mom is more effort, higher risk and more complications for less in return. Would you want to date a childless guy who is seeing his ex-wife three times per week, or would that feel weird to you? Would you want to date a childless guy who can meet you only once or twice per month because of his gazillion other obligations?

I consider it much more of a red flag if people want to have sex without a condom right away (without any std tests or whatever). That guarantees that they had sex without a condom with others before, and that's a much higher risk of catching stds than the number of previous partners.

This varies a lot. Sometimes, the relationship deteriorates over time. It has run its course. That typically won't hit you that hard, because you have known for some time that it likely wasn't working out. Sometimes, the relationship seems to be great, your girlfriend is great. But suddenly, she leaves you. Apparently the relationship wasn't as great for her as it was for you, or maybe she is just crazy. Those breakups tend to hit much harder.

Going to the gym is way easier as a student because the hours of a student are much more flexible than the hours of somebody working 8 to 5 (plus overtime) with a 45 minute commute. The week only has 168 hours, of which eating, sleeping and work take a big chunk. If you also have family (or other significant obligations outside of work), finding the time to go to the gym can be difficult. Many gyms are crowded from about 4 pm to 11 pm. More overweight people can sustain a larger calorie deficit and thus lose weight faster - for some amount of time. Yes, losing weight is difficult where you are. Your maintenance probably is somewhere around 1400 kcal, +/- 200. There isn't much room there for a significant calorie deficit, and just one big meal can wipe out your deficit for a whole week. And you might be in a range where your body wants to hold on to the remaining body fat.

When you're working 70 hours per week, you're married to work, not to your wife. Your wife and kids don't even get to see you much Monday through Friday. No, that guy does not "look well after the children", because he is not even at home.

Different people will have different preferences. You are engaged, why would you even care about the preferences of the non-representative sample of guys who post on PPD? But that wasn't my point. As a woman, you won't get "too much" muscle by just a little bit of weight training without taking steroids, testosterone or anything like that, and even less so without a calorie surplus. Consider Chloe Brennan, a professional strongwoman. She is incredibly strong. At the 2022 Rogue Invitational, she …

Don't worry. As a women who is not on steroids, you're won't build up a massive amount of muscle. Not enough testosterone.

Therapy is tricky. As you already wrote, therapy is expensive if it is not covered by your insurance. On top of that, you need to find a good therapist (many therapists are not good) with an approach that matches your needs. And that good therapist then has to accept you as a patient. "I'm sorry, but we're not taking any new patients at this point." Once you have cleared all those hurdles, then therapy does help.

Many people have difficulties with that principle. If you ask or expect somebody else to do some work for you, don't expect them to do it exactly as you would have. That is not realistic.

There is "pump and dump". Some men will pretend to be interested in a relationship, even though all they want is a one night stand. Women who just want a hookup don't have to worry about that. Women looking for a relationship might feel a need to filter out those men.

In most marriages, the husband is several years older than the wife. Meanwhile, women have a significantly longer life expectancy. Thus, it is quite common that the wife survives the husband by 5 years, 10 years, or even more. The bulk of those women then stay single for the remainder of their life. Obviously, at such an age relationships are about the companionship rather than about sex, but these widows have to do without the companionship as well.

Not untrue, but for the most part irrelevant. The young men who struggle can't get any dates, exactly zero dates for several years in a row. Anything that might later cause a relationship to fail doesn't matter at this stage. Conversely, the people who can get into relationships relatively easy will eventually figure out that the real world does not work like a movie.

Below, something to know about partial differential equations: Real world (systems of) partial differential equations consist not only of the equations themselves, but usually also of initial conditions and boundary conditions. If they don't, the problem you're trying to model is poorly defined, and attempts to solve…

Women have a significantly longer life expectancy. Some of this can be attributed to biology and some of this can be attributed to women (that's other women, not you) messing up their health less than men do. On average, women seem to have better social skills than men.

Depends on where you live. In most European countries, employees can indeed just call in sick and still get paid and not get fired. They then might need a doctor's note, but that's not difficult. Never had a doctor who wouldn't write one when I needed one. That's in addition to 30 vacation days per year.

This is very individual. Some people would love it, my wife and me would consider 610 euros for a fancy dinner way too expensive. Often at these places, you're paying more for the alcoholic beverages than for the food itself. Thus, you need to know how much your SO is into expensive wine.

That person clearly is a survivor of emotional abuse. Surprisingly, while physical and emotional abuse are quite common, many therapists are rather clueless at helping abuse survivors. With all this talk about how men view relationships, it does feel like no matter how few people I have sex with, the man will still consider me “used goods” even if he’s the only one that was using them. There is some truth to this, but I believe it depends on age. An 18 year old is more likely to consider a women "used goods" than a 30 year old. The above assumes that you don't live in Saudi-Arabia.

A man who is average on everything is just dull and unattractive. Your example is not really average, it is below average even though the individual numbers are average for the US. Say, no college, 45k salary, IQ of 92, doesn't want to do chores, but 6' 190 lbs, pretty good at fixing appliances.

Some people feel fear when alone at night in the forest, where wild animals might be around. That is natural. But we don't live alone in the forest. We live in apartments and houses, and those typically don't contain wild animals. Living alone is not inherently dangerous. It is not something you should fear. You might dislike living alone, it can be uncomfortable if you don't know how to cook, but such feelings should not be confused with fear.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/11/23 04:33 PM

This varies a lot, and depends heavily on location and environment. At the time I studied in my hometown, in the age group of 18-35 there were 65%men/35% women in the city overall, and 85% men/15% women at university itself. That's just toxic, and even Chad couldn't get much going. Some men live at such a location, and they need to realize that and start looking for women elsewhere, or possibly move. Then, some men only have "male" interests, and everywhere they go is a sausage fest. That can be…

If as a man you fear being alone, you are weak. What is strong or tough about fearing being alone? I agree that many men have only limited dating options. Thus, men can't be too selective. Approaching is not always creepy. Approaching is sometimes creepy. And this depends not only on the situation, the man's looks and his way of approaching, but also on the woman's state of mind, which in turn can depend on location. Generally speaking, if a woman has already been cold approached 20 times today (and another 20 times yesterday), she is unlikely to react nicely to number 21.

But is that the truth, or is it only a trope? I know quite a few women who went into a horrible relationship knowing that the relationship would be horrible. Reasons ranged from not wanting to be alone to being in a desperate financial situation to being an abuse survivor who expected to be abused.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/10/23 12:13 PM

I don't see how it would change the relationship significantly. Rather, if she does not make me feel loved, there won't be a relationship. And that, in turn, does not depend on income.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/10/23 12:05 PM

This depends on how hot she is. If she is a 9/10, then 85% of the guys want to fuck her. If she is a 4/10, then her boyfriend has no real reason to be concerned.

Germany used to have a large surplus of old women, because so many men died in WW II. Almost 80 years after the end of the war, that effect now is gone. Germany then still has cities where in the age group of 18-35, there are 60% men/40% women, or vice versa (the numbers used to be even worse). That will impact dating. I.e., as a single man, avoid German cities with a large technical university and not much else. Karlsruhe, Darmstadt and Aachen come to mind.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/10/23 10:04 PM

I'm in Germany, and I'm older. Even 30 years ago, women could have an n-count above 50 and except for some immigrants and perhaps some old people, hardly anybody would care.

Education in Germany is managed by the individual states, and thus differs significantly by state. Especially, the school breaks also depend on state. You can find a table here, under "Herbstferien": https://www.schulferien.org/deutschland/ferien/2023/ You can see that some states have a school break first half of October, some states have a school break second half of October, and some states have only a very short autumn school break. I will claim that on average, women have lower self confidence than men. Not because of biological reasons, but because the genders are socialized differently and because the beauty industry tries to guilt trip women into buying their products. Approaching somebody when your self confidence is low can be quite difficult even if chances of success are somewhat decent.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/23 02:00 AM

Ok, so you cold approach them. They tell you "Fuck off, asshole." You cold approach another one. She ignores you. You cold approach another one. She tells you to "fuck off, creep." You cold approach another one. She ignores you. You cold approach another one. She threatens to call her boyfriend to beat you up. And so on. What is your plan if your wife/girlfriend gains 30 pounds while pregnant with your child?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/23 11:09 AM

Well, you're painting an incomplete picture of the average man there. He also is a bit overweight, 195-215 lbs. He is financially constrained because of a combination of student loans, car payments, credit card debt and perhaps even child support payments for a child from a previous relationship. He has a misdemeanor on his criminal record. He owns two guns.

Dating applications have been around since the mid 1990s at least. Some of them were phone based, select "1" if you are a man looking for a woman. Some of them were browser based. Overall, they had fewer users than dating apps nowadays. Fatherlessness is a problem, but it isn't the cause for young men struggling with dating. Most fathers can't help their sons, because the last time that father was on the dating market was 25 years earlier when things were very different.

Self confidence is attractive. "Bad boys" often have decent self confidence. Mistreating women is not attractive. But quite a few women are not in a good place mentally, for example because have been abused by their parents. Those women then might be attracted to men who actually mistreat them. Or they might make poor choices for themselves because they don't expect any better.

Family dynamics, probably combined with the pressure to create storylines for reality TV. All Kardashians show some such behavior, Khloe is just the most extreme case.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/23 10:16 PM
3

I don't perceive this as dishonesty. Rather, I perceive it as self damaging behavior. Checking some boxes on some checklist isn't sufficient for attraction. If a woman isn't attracted to you, she likely won't date you even if you are 6' tall (and thus check that box). Conversely, I have a strong preference for dark hair, but that does in no way imply that I deem every dark haired woman attractive.

Some of what you write is true, but men don't actually resent women for having standards. Rather, men are confused when women have highly inconsistent or insane standards. Your chances are tiny from the get go, and average or worse below average looks will make your situation worse. Do you live in a city with 35% men/65% women in the age group 18-35? Your claim that dating is difficult for older women (say, age 60+) is correct. Most men don't say that women would become attractive by being skinny. Men say that overweight women can improve by losing weight. That's not the same statement. Men are not a uniform group. Different men have different preferences.
