Any future partners either of you have would probably feel awkward about you being friendly with an ex, too

Yes, more or less. I started talking to a therapist, and I've also since met someone else and we got married. I'm still dealing with some baggage with my ex, but I feel significantly better now.

My ex and I got 2 cats together. She took one of them when we got divorced, and I miss that cat so much.

I got divorced 3 years ago and had a similar situation: We sold the house and I had moved into an apartment. After it all set in a few months later, I started to feel down and depressed and was like that for months. Mornings were difficult for me, as I'd feel the most depressed in the morning after I'd wake up and reality would hit me.

Why did you go to court? I don't think that's a necessity to get divorced.

Being single is okay. And it's probably better to deal with this sooner so you don't end up with a big problem later that you might not have time to recover from.

I'd seriously think about leaving. This sounds similar to how my ex was - She'd sometimes get frustrated with me for not doing things the way she'd do them, and even tried to make me feel stupid for doing some things differently, like I didn't know what I was doing. And lacking in patience and getting easily frustrated with me when I tried to help with some things. Sometimes she'd be in a bad mood when I got home from work and would be frustrated at me for who knows what. There were periods of t…

I mean, it seems similar to women saying they don't trust men because of all the bad experiences they've had with creepy guys and all the attention they get online, etc.. Not all guys are like that.

You can't judge all women based on the actions of only a few.

I don't stay in bed anymore. I've been doing things here and there, from working on my own little projects to just enjoying a couple TV shows. It does help.

I have a cat.. Not sure how well a dog and a cat would work.

finances I'm a little worried about that. I'm doing okay, but my savings (as well as retirement accounts) is quite a bit lower than it used to be a couple years ago. I had to make a couple withdrawals from my retirement accounts while I was married, and after the divorce I didn't end up with much money in my savings account either.

At 32, you have your whole life ahead of you. Enjoy it! Actually I'm 41... If you're referring to my username, it refers to the Roland MT-32, which was a music synthesizer first released in 1987.

I was only married 4 years (together for 6 years) before getting divorced last year. We actually hadn't planned for divorce, but that's another story. I try not to think of it as wasted time. I think that's a recipe for depression (I've been depressed this past year), and I think it's best to avoid thinking that way. It's a chapter in your life, and I try to be grateful for the experiences and things I learned. It can be hard though.. It feels like a part of me that is now gone.

I totally understand. I was married for 4 years (together for 6) before getting divorced a year ago, and I've felt the same way. I've been going through what seems like a depression this year and have been remembering the good times we had and have missed her and the life we had. Although I think there were some not so good things, I do miss things and miss her. I've felt lost at times. I don't know your situation, but I imagine there may be significant reasons for your divorce, and if so, I'd k…

I'm starting to feel in my older age that a good wife is obviously not just about looks. So does that mean that to you, a good wife was just about looks when you were younger?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
