Thank you for this. I really needed it. Literally all of what you said is true and reality for me at the current moment. Its always nice to hear it from someone that's been through it.

Congratulations for passing your geology exam big guy. Give yourself a pat on the back, you earned it. If she wont say it to you, I will.

Yes, at this point, it is done. It is fucking rough man but you gotta look out for yourself and do what needs to be done. In my opinion, there is no coming back from that. The same exact thing happened to me after 16 years of marriage and having a 4 year old child. I filed the week after I found out. She tried to fight me and take my kid from me, I got 50/50 and we came to an agreement and finalize probably in June. If she has feelings for him, the feelings for you are gone. She is monkey branch…

Would you mind if I dm'd you and picked your brain on some stuff since we are going through similar situations? Just easier than making posts back and forth.

I actually saw something about that class as well. I'll have to look into that. Im actually sitting here waiting for my therapy appointment at the VA and my therapist is also a social worker and used to work for cps as well. I planned on asking him what classes he suggested, as im assuming hes got some knowledge on the subject. You mentioned a GAL. Could you explain to me when this happens and how to go about it? Someone explained to me that a GAL is used after court to kind of monitor the situa…

There absolutely was another guy on the side. It started by her gaslighting me and trying to make it seem like I did something wrong. We've been together for 18 years, I know when she is lying. I did what I had to do and found out shes been seeing a guy at her work. I have hard evidence of this and its pretty bad stuff. Shes an HR rep as well which makes it even worse. I could go to her work today with what I have and they both would be fired. And as much as I want to, I know its not the thing t…

Well man, if you want me to be completely honest with you, I am kind of in the same boat, but also a different boat haha. My wife and I were married for 16 years. She cheated on me but I had to find that out on my own. I learned she was going to do a smear campaign against me. She even tried to silver bullet me in a way. But I filed first and put an end to that pretty quick. I have also been logging and recording every interaction ive had with either my wife or child since this has happened. I c…

From my understanding and from what I have heard from many people, the court cares about the present much more than the past. Its not a bad thing you have all that evidence showing what all you do and have done. But if a parent shows initiative and continues the course, it does hold a lot of weight. I've heard stories about drug addicts showing improvement, working towards sobriety and that was enough for them to land 50/50. Not trying to scare you or bring you down, but again, is just what I ha…

I am still early on in the divorce process but its already pretty brutal. She cheated on me and is now trying to take my kid from me on top of it. I am going through very similar things. For years, I never really dreamt. Now, I spend the day getting my mental in a good place and am fine overall, but everytime I close my eyes I have nightmares about everything, even if its just for 10 minutes. I wake up and reality hits me like a truck and I have to spend the whole day rebuilding my mental. It tr…

You have no idea how many people tried to tell me it would be better if I didnt know. I tried telling them the only closure that comes from this is knowing for sure. And that's exactly what happened. I mean no offense by this, but I didnt want to be in your shoes and wonder for the rest of my life if it was true or not. Id much rather know for the sake of both my child and I. You have to trust your gut and if that's how you feel, its probably pretty accurate. I just hope for your sake, that your…

Judging by your name, we are in the same state. Im a little over a month in from filing for divorce after finding out my wife of 16 years was seeing another man from work. On top of that, she is trying to take my kid from me via a smear campaign. I am simply asking for 50/50. One of the very first things I did was get a recording device and have recorded every single interaction with her or my child. It has been the single greatest purchase of my life. I cannot tell you how much evidence I have …

Are you a pretty level headed person or do you tend to jump to conclusions? Use deductive reasoning. Where do you land? What does your gut tell you? My stbxw and I's divorce talks started by her gaslighting me and trying to make it seem like i did something wrong. After thinking about everything for over a week straight, I was certain there was another guy in the picture. I have never been so sure about something in my life before without knowing it to be true. I eventually found proof and ended…

You learn to turn the sadness, despair and depression into anger. Your anger turns into focus. Your focus turns into self motivation. Your self motivation turns into determination to improve yourself and your quality of life. At least this is what happened for me within the month since it happened and I still live with my cheating stbxw who's trying to take my kid from me on top of everything. Like anything else, comes with time. Gotta go through the darkness to get to the light. Hang in there m…

Well, spoke to my attorney today. He told me there are no orders in place, we have equal rights and that there is nothing she can do to stop me other than file an ex parte, which would be doing me a favor as there is nothing she could say that would be true and it would just end up making her look crazy and controlling in the end. Looks like I get to get away with my kid for a nice weekend.

Well, that's the thing, she is confident that her and two of her family members doing a smear campaign against me is going to work. But i have so much contradicting evidence now, recordings of her making it very very clear shes only doing it for control/child support, that its not going to. The judge would have to be deaf and blind to not see what is going on. So yeah, youre right. I cannot wait for the day I do get 50 50. Shes going to have a very hard time coming to terms with it.

Thanks for the reply. I am sorry all of this is happening to you. The more I read these forums the more I realize just how common it is. But I am sorry that you are going through that. I feel your pain my brother. I do have a lot of contradicting evidence now to anything they could say about me which is good, but it is still concerning. She is very controlling. I made a post just the other day asking advice as she just took our kid on a vacation 2 weeks ago after divorce talks started. I filed w…

Thanks. This is exactly what I thought as well. Going to speak to my attorney Tuesday about it and get his take to make sure im covered. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever why I shouldn't be able to especially considering she just got back from taking her on a vacation and this was after divorce talks started. Thanks for the reply.

I do have the ability to just turn my emotions off all together when I feel enough pain. Im guessing that is similar to what you mentioned. But the environment that I am in and their behaviors makes it difficult to not think about stuff sometimes. Will try to get better at it though.

I try to detach the best I can. Its just very hard. Im starting to hate my wife for what she did and continues to do but I also still love her and wake up hoping it was all a dream. Some days the sadness turns into anger though and I get laser focused. But my constant worrying of what might happen brings me right back down. I didnt mention that but I did as well. I know every person in my child's life, their first and last name and can recite even the address if needed. I have been documenting a…

Oddly enough, I was going to make another post about that tomorrow. I had an old military friend move to our state and they were driving 2.5 hours to see me for a bit today. I asked the in law, very nicely, if they could leave for a bit so that I could have some privacy in my own house that I pay the mortgage for. They got an attitude and argued with me. I have only ever been nice to this person. Let them live here rent free for a year. I am going through hell with everything already and am gett…
