How on earth do I get 3-4 dates a week? Even when I message the guy first I get 2 dates a month, max, and most of those are from guys who are completely undesirable and I know I'm not going to like them but I try to be an optimist and go on the date anyway because you never know but he's always blah. Trust me if I could go on that many dates, I would because I think it would make me less needy. I'm also 36, although to be fair I've never had a lot of interest at any age, even when I was 22 or wh…

But I know that no one wants me, you know?

But how do you love yourself? What are the concrete steps? I feel like people toss that phrase out without really explaining what it means and what actual steps are needed to get there.

Yeah people with Marfan aren't usually that affected and she does have other stuff going on, but her face does have a lot of Marfan features. And yeah not everyone who has it is ugly, but most who have it are, at best unconventionally pretty. Lincoln might have had, although when people accused him of being two faced he asked something like, 'If I had 2 faces, would I choose one this ugly?' I try to do my best but it's hard :(

I do live in an east coast city...unfortunately, there's way more women than (straight) men. I am on online dating it's just a disaster. The guy's I've met are socially awkward to a point where it's not worth dealing with or we just don't have enough in common. I meet a guy I like who likes me back like...once every 3 years.

But like...ask him about the 6'7" thing. Or ask him if literally everything about you stayed the same, but you woke up and were 6'7" tomorrow...would he feel the same way about you? Would it bother him at all?

But don't you think being 5'7" with no disorders helped you? Ask your captain tonight...if you were 6'7", would he have ever asked you out? I'm curious what his answer would be.

I have used apps. I don't get anything. Google Lizzie Velasquez....I'm not as affected as her and she has something else going on but she has a lot of typical marfan features...you really think women who look like her or myself have no trouble finding dates? Seriously?

I get what you're saying, and I know that I sound bitter right now...but I feel like I have been in 'nun mode' my whole life. I have cultivated the hell out of my personality. I'm well read, a good listener, loyal, domestic, witty, thoughtful, in top notch shape....but I feel as though I'm writing a novel on the shoreline. It's all washed away by how I look and I really don't know what more I can do.

Right? I feel like such a failure for being single but I really don't know what to do.

I mean, I like to think my standards are pretty low, but who knows. Also I can't dunk on anyone I'm terrible at basketball. But thank you. I feel like it's hard to not be bitter in my situation.

I have no idea how to do that :( I don't know how to be confident when I know my outward appearance is so off putting and I can't change it.

Sorry for all of your struggles. With all due respect though I don't think men not being attracted to my height comes from their lack of confidence. I've never heard someone tell a woman who expresses objection to dating a short man be told that she isn't confident enough to date a short man, you know? My height just isn't considered attractive.

Unfortunately tall guys are generally not nice...they have an abundance mentality and act accordingly.

Exactly. And I can't even do anything about it. I can't amputate my legs to be shorter. Nobody cares that I'm nice though :(

Thank you for your reply and I appreciate the validation. I've tried the support groups but they don't do anything for me. I just don't know how to stop beating myself up and thinking that it's all my fault.

I feel like they would hurt my feelings. And my face is such that makeup can't really fix anything. The structure is just off.

I've dated guys as short as 5'6". I don't care. The support groups are not helpful but that is good advice. But like...does it make sense why I'm depressed about the situation and why reading this sub makes me sad sometimes? Like, objectively I think for various reasons I'd be great girlfriend or wife material. I have my ducks in a row....but because of how I look, no one wants my ducks :( Thank you for replying.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
