Clearly there are not enough resources. if there were we wouldn't be having this conversation. That's not even the really scary part. If we want to open the upper tiers of society up to historically marginalized groups, then we're going to have to accept some applicants are under qualified because they were barred from the opportunity to exist on equal terms in the first place. A meritocracy cannot exist if everyone starts on unequal terms. Pretending we live in a meritocracy when some people have a head start is just cruel.

Bit of a paradox there ain't it? The less privileged are barred from the opportunities that would lead them out of poverty because they're under qualified. We'll never reach our true potential as a society if we don't fix poverty. There are plenty of highly talented people that can't reach their true potential because they're stuck in a shitty job because they would have to leave their job to be qualified.

Why is it so low? why don't men want to take care of their children? I can't use my breasts to feed children. Women can. That's a pretty stark difference. Probably not the whole story, but if only one person in a relationship can feed the child easily (and in a more functional manner) it makes a lot of sense for them to do so.
