Saying “women support the system” flips the cause and effect. Women are not ones creating these hierarchies out of thin air, but simply navigating a society where power, status, and income are still overwhelmingly tilted toward men. What do you mean by “women making choices that reinforce hierarchies”? That assumes those choices are free of outside pressure, when in reality they’re shaped by social norms, economic realities, and cultural expectations. That’s not really true. Changing economic models doesn’t automatically mean famine and mass death. History is full of examples where societies shifted systems without collapse, like moving from feudalism to industrial capitalism, or from gold standard to fiat currency. The real issue is political will and imagination. People assume growth-based capitalism is the only option, but it’s just the one we’re used to.
