My mom is a better shot with a handgun than some of our local cops. Lol, my mom is a better shot with an AR than my dad's deputy friend that went with us to the range. Thanks Army! Honestly though, I can hit a torso on a silhouette at 25 yards and that's it; I am great with rifles, shotguns, auto-rifles, LMGs, GPMGs, HMGs, and grenade launchers, but I get shown up with pistols every time. I heard "Sapper school," and I couldn't believe I was lucky enough to get offered a school like that without it being in my contract. I hear you; when I was in, I got ostracized for not ostracizing soldiers who'd been accused of domestic violence. I assume it was worse for them, had to be, but it was pretty rough on me too. I don't know whether that is true or not, but the UCMJ's standards of evidence always baffled me. To prove adultery (a crime for service members, but not for mil-spouses) there needs to be video or photographic evidence of penetration occurring. For sexual assault, the standards are almost as lax as older Title IX requirements. Regardless of the outcome of those investigations, a known suspect's career advancement is, almost without exception, severely retarded.

It's not that women wouldn't be influenced by politics, it's the idea that they wouldn't be called to put their lives at risk, involuntarily, on the battlefield. I don't think it is, but this seems to be the author's logic: "...I would suggest that there might be a more sinister racist undertone when we apply this term to North African refugees, for example. If we're saying that only women and children are vulnerable, perhaps we're suggesting that all [male] North African refugees are somehow aggressors, or somehow not worthy of our protection."
