Thank you for sharing. As someone with both masculine and feminine personality traits, I think I've been made to feel ashamed of my male biology, because every political attitude says it's wrong for me to be myself in so many different ways just because I was born male. I feel a disconnect with my body because I simply want to be myself, hence the dysphoria and transitioning so I can feel better about it. It's highly unlikely I'll have children in the future because I don't want to expose them t…

I'm very happy for your sons that they're able to be unapologetically themselves and they have such supportive parents. I agree that it isn't all women, but enough women that we need to keep ourselves safe because we only have 1 life to live. Masculinity, femininity, and my gender never really mattered to me because I thought I was just myself, until society made it matter through treating me differently, conscription, etc. I just miss being able to be myself without being judged just because of…

I'm sorry you feel this way and had to go through that treatment. I have no problem with people fighting to make masculinity valued in the same way and seen in the same light as femininity; in fact, I only encourage it. I'd love to see men being able to be their most comfortable selves, whether they are more masculine, feminine, or somewhere in between. Since I've experienced vilification for my birth sex (something I can't change) from traditionalists who want to force men into masculine/self-s…

Hmm, gay bars welcome women. And being bi, most gay and bi men I know have female friends they are very close with and often sympathise with the feminist cause. I don't get why they do that, but to each their own I guess.

Man, that sucks. :/ Yeah, I don't get why so many feminine men are feminist allies, when it's so clear feminism ultimately sees feminine men as enemies or intruding women's spaces. Weird.

I see. It appears that those who dodge it have to lay low here. To be honest, it is a mystery why I've been affected so much by it. I think it's the combination of conscription + other negative factors at the time.

Not South Korea. But women here are also very hypocritical, unempathetic, and feminist.

I agree I should start working out more. If you don't mind me asking, how did you mentally escape? So far, if I try to stop, the intrusive thoughts about the past come rushing in on repeat and really affect me.

Conscription is stricter here. There are laws that criminalise dodging it, and you don't have much of a say. However, it's not as strict as some other countries like Finland or South Korea.

Just to be clear, it sounds like you're saying you managed to get exempted from conscription but the toll of the anxiety about conscription affected your adolescence pretty badly? Yes. Not only the anxiety, but the bullying, depression, and social isolation. It is a mystery to me why it's affected me this much as well. People around me seem alright, but it's had a huge implication for me. I'm beginning to think it's more of a combination of conscription + other negative factors caused by it at t…

I haven't, but it sounds like I should. I suppose my main issue is trust: "would they downplay me, say 'but other demographics have different issues too,' etc. like people had said to me?" I'm just tired and afraid nobody would understand me. I'd definitely go for a male therapist.

What can male MRAs do to support female MRAs who face such backlash? As of today and as far as I know, I don't think male MRAs have to do much to support female MRAs, other than respecting every MRA equally regardless of their gender. A lot of us are here because we believe in true equality, are disappointed by feminism, or/and care about the struggles of the men in our lives. So, those disapproving voices don't really matter. That being said, the MRM should be more welcoming to male advocates w…

I think it's worth assessing whether this fetish has its roots in some bad experiences or/and traumas you may have had, whether partly or fully. Even reading about misandry online can count as a bad experience. I am not saying the fetish has its roots there, but if it does, you may want to sort out the root cause of it, because if left unchecked, I don't think it's very healthy for your mind in the long run.

Thank you for the insight. That sounds really awful.

I agree. I wouldn't want anyone to control what shows I can and can't watch, what video games I can and can't play, etc. Anyone should be free to watch their favourite shows with whatever characters they have or play their favourite games, but as with anything, it should be done in moderation, not in excess; and if their favourite pastime is hurting others, they should be mindful of it and careful not to let it happen. Given observation, I believe that people are consuming soap operas to the poi…
